Chapter 17 – Tom Sue

Luo Bei’s mood was very complicated, because the male lead of the seinen, slice-of-life, career novel she saw was the Jiang Sihan living in her basement.

According to the development of the plot, he would take on a role in a web drama before next year and the production period of the web drama would not be long. This web drama could be considered an important turning point in Jiang Sihan’s life. First of all, he received payment that could go towards his daily expenses for quite some time. Secondly, it would be broadcast next year on some internet platform. Finally, the web drama received a lot of love from the audience because of its excellent character development, its public ratings exceeded that of TV dramas with top-line actors as main leads.

The book did not describe into detail the male lead’s love line, but an unknown woman was mentioned several times. Jiang Sihan had no scandals at the peak of his popularity. Some speculate that before he officially debuted, he had a girlfriend who was also his first love that he couldn’t let go of so he had no interest in starting another relationship. Others say that Jiang Sihan loved a woman deeply but the two were never together, it had been unrequited for him.

Luo Bei was not interested in his love line, but this person would be such a Sue in the future!

If Zhao Pianpian was Mary Sue, then Jiang Sihan was a Tom Sue. Although before his debut he didn’t know when his next meal would be and lived in a dark and damp basement, once he debuted, his road to stardom was exceptionally smooth. That’s why in a short few years, he was crowned the film emperor. Later on, his forgotten dream of becoming a musician was revived and he became a Heavenly King worthy of the name. In the beginning, she did approach Zhao Pianpian with selfish intentions. After all, Zhao Pianpian was the future wife of the CEO of Lei Corporation. In the future, if she and Grandma encountered problems, there would be more people she could ask for help from. This kind of selfishness was part of human nature. Luo Bei had also put in sincere efforts in the process. But when it came to Jiang Sihan, Luo Bei only had to wait and see.

Zhao Pianpian’s difficulty was in her loneliness and helplessness, while Jiang Sihan’s current predicament was his poverty.

Luo Bei did want to lend him money, but Jiang Sihan was a man, a man who was persevering towards his dreams. Reasonably speaking, he must have a high self-esteem. If she lent him money, there was a chance it might be counterproductive.

It was important to note that in the story, the reason he was struggling for this period of time was because his initial dream was not to be an actor. Luo Bei wanted to befriend them, but didn’t want to affect what they would go through in life.
