Chapter 192 - Six X

"They agreed?" KJ asked.

"Yes," Psycho reported. "The investors had agreed to invest in Six X. The CEO managed to convince them."

KJ sat back on his chair and frowned. He had just arrived at the company and was already informed that Mirae had scrapped the plans to debut a new girl group and is pushing to work on Six X.

"Why did she cancel the plans for a new girl group?" he asked.

"Well…" Psycho started. "Before she arrived at the office today, she asked me to look into a new agency called Aroma Inc. It had just started its operations and had rapidly recruited some of the top artists in the industry. They are also planning to debut a girl group this year and the timing would have clashed directly with our planned girl group."

"Why is the CEO interested in this company?" KJ questioned.

"It's because of this," Psycho replied, handing him a file. KJ took it and glanced through.

"Two of the Board of DIrectors…" he said, pointing at the page. "Shim Junhyung and...Park Seungheon."

Park Seungheon...It was Ash's real name. By openly using his real name, he was directly challenging KJ. Mirae must have found out this information through her sources. If she had gone ahead with their original plans and the new girl groups had clashed, then the results would have been uncertain. They could not have predicted the success of the new group and knowing how adept Ash was at handling trainees, there was a huge chance that they'd have lost.

By putting Six X on the forefront, Mirae not only increased their chances of winning against Aroma Inc., but also ensured that they'd maintain their profitability in the industry.

He smiled. "Let's do this," he said, closing the file. "We'll prepare for Six X's comeback. This will be fun."

….

Shin Junki slammed a vase against the wall.

"What happened, sir?" Shelley exclaimed as she rushed into his room.

"That bitch!" Junki roared. Knowing whom he meant, Shelley quickly closed the door behind her.

"That bitch assigned someone else as the PR Director!" Junki fumed. "That too over me! Me!"

Shelley wanted to point out that between him and the Nation's True Love, people will naturally gravitate towards the latter but she kept mum. It was best not to provoke the dragon.

"I've been working here for ten years!" Junki claimed. "This was supposed to be my position!"

He slammed his hands on the desk in anger. The employees outside heard the commotion but did not bother to ask what was going on. Word had already spread that he was not given his desired position and was throwing tantrums.

Maybe if you'd have kept your mouth shut and not have messed with KJ's wife, then you'd have gotten that position, Shelly thought. By branding the CEO as a gold digger and trying to bribe her when she was at the hospital after a miscarriage was a very dumb move. That too, without investigating her background.

"I'll get my revenge," Junki vowed. He was determined to make the CEO fall. He did not care who she was but it was time to bring her down.

….

Mirae was at her office, reading the files on her desk when there was a knock on the door.

"Please enter," she said. The door opened and a tall, short haired girl entered the office. She was Mirae's age and was sporting several tattoos on her hands and neck.

"Lee Dami," Mirae stated. "The leader of Six X."

"And you are the new CEO," Dami commented. "I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I should have come to you this morning but I had some obligations-"

"I know you're looking for a new agency," Mirae said bluntly. Dami blinked at her in surprise.

"How did you-"

"I'm the CEO of an entertainment company," Mirae replied. "I may be new to the job but I know what goes on in this industry."

Dami pursed her lips. "Yes," she admitted. "The members of Six X are looking for a new agency. Mystic Entertainment has not given us a comeback in almost two years despite demand from our fans. We begged CEO Ahn but he discarded us like trash!"

She did not bother to mask the contempt in her voice. Her disdain and pain was very evident. Her group was tossed aside on various pretexts. All their contributions to the company meant nothing to them and she had low expectations from the new CEO as well.

"If you want to leave, you can leave," Mirae said. Dami took a sharp breath upon hearing those words. Just as she expected, they were being thrown away.

"But before you leave," Mirae leaned forward. "How about a new album?"

Dami stared at her, shocked. "New album?" she repeated.

"I've already discussed with the investors," Mirae said. "They have agreed to give Six X a comeback this year. We'll leave the creative decision of the album on the members. I'll personally handle the comeback preparations and also ensure that there are no lack of promotions. Furthermore, we'll be releasing solo songs of the members ahead of the group comeback in order to create a buzz. The solos will be repackaged into the new album."

Dami could not believe her ears. They were getting a comeback?

"You're lying," she blurted out. "CEO Ahn also made up stories to keep us in the company! What's the guarantee that you'll keep your word?"

"I'm not CEO Ahn," Mirae pointed out. "Unlike him, I keep my word. I can even include it in your contract that if this comeback is successful, then Six X will get yearly three comebacks along with one mini album and a full album annually."

Dami hesitated. Was the CEO really telling the truth? From the media statements, she knew about her and KJ's clash with Ash Park along with the tragedy she went through. Dami had thought her of as simply a pretty face next to KJ but it seems that there was more to her.

"Talk with your members," Mirae suggested. "Ask them if they're okay with this. I'll proceed with the comeback only if Six X agrees to come on board."

"I'll talk to them," Dami said. "But we want the terms in a written contract."

"Deal," Mirae agreed, stretching her hand forward. Dami hesitated before shaking her hand.

"Deal," she nodded.
