Chapter 138 - Hann Constructions (XIV) D-Day Part Three

Name:The Idol's Wife Author:Tea_Tae
Mirae chose to take the stairs instead of the elevator to avoid detection by others. She ran up the emergency staircase all the way to the eighth floor. It was tedious but she her training included walking up and down the stairs everyday, so she was not tired by the time she reached the eighth floor.

Putting on a pair of glasses and a blonde wig she had in her handbag, she put her head down. The employees were too busy to notice the stranger walking by. Mirae was striding towards Chairman Kwon's old office when a familiar figure showed up in front of her.

Immediately, she slid behind a water filter, pretending to pick up a cup. Secretary Lee was talking to another employee and did not notice her. He passed by, his concentration on the file in front of him.

"So you see, you'll have to arrange a bigger discount," he was saying to the employee who was with him. "And make sure they agree."

Mirae was about to head towards Chairman Kwon's office when Secretary Lee turned around.

"Excuse me, miss!" he called out.

Mirae froze in her steps. Oh no! She thought wildy. I'm caught!

She heard his footsteps approaching her.

"Can you please get me the file from my office?" he asked. Mirae was confused and did not dare to turn back.

"Yes, sir," she heard a female speak up. Mirae took a glance back and saw that he was actually talking to another woman nearby. Not waiting to get caught, Mirae walked on while he was distracted.

She finally reached the Chairman's office. It was at the very end of the floor. Mirae did not remember much about the place but she had flashes of the first time she had visited the place. Even though she did not know why she was there in the first place, she remembered Grandpa Kwon's warm smile very well. Reminiscing him brought back memories, creating a lump in her throat.

But she had very little time. Get a grip, Mirae! She scolded herself. You have a job to do.

The door was undoubtedly locked. There was an electronic lock on it, which meant only the high profile employees of the building can enter it. But she had KJ's entry card with her. Even if he was not in charge of the company, he was one of those who can enter the room using a personalized key card. If it was not for the Cartel's spies inside the organization, KJ himself would have come to take the files.

Mirae took out the keycard and pressed it against the scanner. To her relief, it accepted the card and opened the door. She was about to enter when-

"Why are you here?" a stern voice came from behind.

Mirae slowly turned around to see Secretary Lee, standing there.

"Why are you here, Mirae?" he asked.

….

"Are you accusing me of the murder of a person I didn't even know?" Shun demanded.

"Not accusing," Hyun Jung replied. "We just want some answers."

"This is preposterous!" Shun slammed his fists on the table. "First you waltz in here, accusing me of being involved in Taewon's murder and now you want to question me about CEO Ahn's death? Wasn't it a heart attack?"

"That's what we told the public," Hyun Jung replied. "But in reality, the police were looking into his mysterious death. Even the members of EXOTIC know about this."

He gestured at Ash and Dasom.

"He is right," Ash agreed immediately. "CEO Ahn did not die of a heart attack."

He pretended to lazily doodle on a piece of paper, whereas in reality, he was jotting down a message.

"Let's get to it," Eli said. Hyun Jung took a seat next to Ash while Eli took the empty chair next to Dasom. She gave him a hard look before sitting down. He, too, rolled his eyes at her.

"How well did you know CEO Ahn?" she asked.

"I knew him through social circles," Shun replied.

Hyun Jung was listening to the questioning when he felt a light tap on his wrist. Ash gestured to the note he was scribbling on.

"Keep him occupied for 20 minutes," it read. Hyun Jung frowned. 20 minutes? He thought. What did that mean? Did they need twenty minutes? For what?

He did not question aloud but diverted his attention back to Shun and Eli.

"But the two of you went to the same bank," Eli countered. "And were also members of the same gym."

"So were a hundred more influential people," Shun dismissed her. "So does that mean everyone is a suspect?"

"However," Eli said, taking out a picture from her bag. "Both of you even had the same bank teller."

She showed him the picture which was cropped to show Junhyung and him in one room. They had deliberately cut off Ziko, in order to see what Shun Oguri will say.

"This man…" Shun feigned. "He seems familiar…"

"That's Sung Song-il," Eli replied. "He handled one of your overseas account."

"Ah yes," Shun replied. "Yes, he was in the accounts section of the bank I had affiliation with. Unfortunately, I closed down my account months ago and have lost contact with him."

"Strangely, he only handled your and CEO Ahn's account," Eli pointed out. "And both of you received money from the same source. Yet, you said you didn't know CEO Ahn much."

"We are both businessmen who receive money from various investors," Shun countered. "Obviously, we had some common investors. That does not mean we were close."

"You guys had the same investors, the same bank teller and even went to the same gym," Eli counted. "Yet, you day you two did not know each other much? Isn't that a bit far fetched?"

"Miss Lee, I meet hundreds of people everyday," Shun scoffed. "You expect me to be close with each and every one of them?"

"You claimed that you have not been in touch with Mr. Dong-il for months," Hyun Jung chimed in. "However, this picture was from a week ago. Care to explain that?"

Shun stared at the picture. No doubt, it was taken from their time at the mansion. But why was the picture cropped? Did someone only send them the picture of Junhyung and himself? Was it Ziko?

It must have been Ziko, he concluded. After all, he would benefit greatly if Shun was exposed as a Cartel member and arrested.

"We met at a casual acquaintance's house," he lied with a poker face.

"Then why did you lie that you haven't met him in months?" Hyun Jung grinded.

Eli smirked inwardly. He did not refer to the cropped out third person in the photo which means he was lying.

"It slipped my mind," Shun said.

"Funny how you have a response to every question," Ash wondered out loud.

"Yeah, it's almost as if you've rehearsed for them," Dasom said, giving a sarcastic smile.

"Where were you when CEO Ahn was killed?" Hyun Jung asked.

"I was at my office," Shun answered. "We were working on a major project. You can ask any of my employees."

"We will," Hyun Jung replied. "We will also check the CCTV of that night. Along with your bank transactions."

"Suit yourself," Shun shrugged. "I'm sure you'll find nothing."

"We'll see," Hyun Jung said shortly.

"Is that all, detective?" Shun asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Not quite," Hyun Jung answered. "We actually have one more question."

He stood up, leaning over, putting both his arms on either side of the table.

"We would like to know, what you were doing a certain tape," he said.

"What tape?" Shun asked lazily.

"The sexual assault tape involving Song Tamlin's daughter," Hyun Jung revealed, stunning the whole room.
