Chapter 299 - Jealousy... Was Eating His Heart.

When Tanaga came back the night before, he called Jeff to ask for some advice if what he was planning to do was right. Jeff just arrived from a business meeting and was planning to take a bath before eating and sleeping early.

But when he heard the voice of his friend, which sounded problematic, he decided to go to Tanaga's house and talk to him personally.

When Jeff arrived at Tanaga's house, he was sitting in front of his laptop and was watching something, but he then quickly closed his laptop – that's why Jeff didn't see what Tanaga was watching.

"What are you saying that you're planning on acting as Tanaka? Why did you plan on doing this?" Jeff asked while walking towards Tanaga.

Instead of answering, Tanaga stood up and went to that mini bar to make some c.o.c.ktail drinks.

"What do you want to drink? Hard or c.o.c.ktail? I also have beers. Which do you like?" Tanaga asked while he was busy making his drink.

"If your wife was here, I would make you a long island iced tea, hahaha!" Tanaga joked, faking his laugh.

"Don't even go there, man! I'm fine with anything," Jeff answered while comfortably sitting on the sofa.

In just some moments, Tanaga was already holding two scotches. He gave the other glass to Jeff and then sat on the opposite side of the sofa.

Tanaga was still not answering Jeff's question. He sipped his drink and sighed. "Did you know that I visited her last night and she thought that she was just dreaming? I didn't know that she heard what I said. She even opened her eyes for a short time 'cause she thought it was just a dream… If you only knew how scared I was at that time! Bro, even if I was stone-hearted when I see her tears falling down, saying words for me… my heart…" He then thought deeply while slowly drinking the liquor he was holding.

Jeff shook his head while looking at his friend. "So, why did you think of facing them as Tanaka? That's what I don't understand," Jeff asked, obviously worried about what Tanaga wanted to do.

"Have I told you that she gave birth to twins? Hahaha! Think about it! Twins!" Tanaga was laughing while he spoke yet had some sadness in his eyes.

"Congratulations! I forgot that you have the genes of twins. Hahaha! Now if I also have twins and both are girls, that'll be a good story. We can have two marriages. Hahaha!" Jeff banters to his friend but he really means it.

"Nah, talk the talk and walk the walk," Tanaga answered.

Jeff sneered before asking the same question. "You're avoiding my question – why do you want to pretend as your twin especially if Ashley doesn't know you have one?"

Tanaga looked up to the sky. "When I saw our sons, I didn't notice how happy I was that time, particularly when I carried them. While I was carrying my sons, I suddenly thought of the hardsh.i.p.s their mother experienced.

"That's when I thought of tearing the contract and the divorce paper to let myself try to return to their lives. But I suddenly became scared that she wouldn't accept me back. You know why, right?

"Grandma hid the truth from her that I'm still alive. If you were in her shoes, would you accept me back just like that? Wouldn't you have some hatred towards Grandma from what she did? I don't want that to happen. You understand, right?" Tanaga emptied his glass as he spoke.

Jeff couldn't utter a word because Tanaga's explanation was valid. Ashley may not accept him back and she might actually be the one filing for a divorce and take the kids with her. The law in America often favors the mother, after all.

If by any chance Tanaga uses the contract, Ashley would not be the only one hurt, but her family too. Jeff didn't know how to reply to his friend.

"Well… if you think that she will accept you as Tanaka and not Tanaga, why not? At least she won't have hatred towards you, especially towards Grandma Hanada. And, you'd be her brother-in-law and the uncle of her sons so you can still be part of the kids' life. It's not a bad idea, but we can't guarantee if Ashley will believe you or not. Based on what you told me before, I guess she's a smart woman," Jeff explained. "Do what you think is best. You know, I'll always be with you along the way." Even though Jeff kept giving advice to Tanaga, he didn't notice that Tanaga had already fallen asleep.

Jeff decided not to wake him up and just left without saying goodbye.

Tanaga woke up early and prepared to visit the hospital. His mind couldn't be changed. The car was already prepared outside and in just a few minutes he was already inside the car, heading to the hospital.

While they were on the road, Tanaga decided on calling his lawyer.

"I want you to destroy all the evidence about the contract and the divorce paper. I don't need it anymore," Tanaga declared.

"Yes sir! I will do so right now," the lawyer replied while waiting for another order.

Tanaga also ordered his lawyer to make a new will of testament and put Ashley as the one and only inheritor of all his wealth and his shares at the THJ group. That was just a precaution in case something happens to him.

"After you finish making a new will, send it to me immediately so that I can sign it digitally. Okay?" Saying that Tanaga ended the call.

They soon arrived at the hospital right after he finished speaking to his lawyer. He didn't notice that they were parked at the entrance of the hospital for about a minute.

Tanaga's driver opened the door for him to come out. When he came out of the car, he was shocked upon seeing Koji exiting the hospital.

Rather than Tanaga being happy and getting the attention of his cousin, he stopped because it seemed like his cousin was thinking deeply and didn't even notice him.

He suddenly thought of Ashley, his wife. He felt as though his heart were pierced. Tanaga suddenly held his chest and immediately walked inside the hospital.

Even if his mind forgot Ashley, his heart never did; that's why his jealousy was coming out.
