Chapter 192 - Delivery

Allison descended the staircase and her feet landed on the floor. She looked at Caroline. "Ready?"

Caroline nodded her head and answered. "Yes!"

"Alright, let's go, girl!" Allison said.

The two women were about to move forward towards the door when Owen interrupted them.

"You want me to drive for you, girls?" he offered his services.

Allison shook her head. "Not today, Owen."

"Okay Madam," he said and proceed to climbs the stairs.

The two women exited the door and went to the car parked outside.

Allison slid into the driver's seat, Caroline sits on the backseat.

The vehicle was now slowly moving out of the gate and was heading to the busy street.

The two women were silent during the ride.

Caroline fixed her gaze outside, watching other vehicles moving in all directions as they were passing buildings after buildings.

Her thoughts drifted again to her husband trying to guess what he's doing right now? Was he thinking about her? Was he angry and sad? Does his world collapse when she disappeared? Was he suffering painfully just like her?

'Of course, he does!' a tiny voice answered all her questions in her mind.

She was just hoping that her husband would be able to go on with his life, attain to his businesses naturally, and continue living like he did when he still hadn't met her. She knows that the pain he was going through right now would subside gradually in no time.

As the days keeps rolling by, her husband's heart will go numb and he will no longer feel much pain. Only by accepting the truth that there are some things in this world that humans can not have complete control... things will become easier to handle.

Her only regret was that she was the one who gives her beloved husband so much pain.

Ironically, destiny gives her a man she could love faithfully and sadly also give her a tragedy that turns her life upside down.

The blessing and reward are not proportioned somehow.

It requires complete endurance and acceptance on her part, to ensure that her fragile sanity won't crumble along the way. And where does this road lead her to?

Only time can tell.

She can only plan, take actions, and then reap the rewards of her actions in the end.

But somehow... she felt that things will become more complicated for her down the road.

She can sense it...feel it...like a howling beast ready to devour her.

She released a deep sigh and shut off her eyes. It's only her first day and she feels like she was going out of her mind.

Caroline continued battling with the different thoughts crisscrossing in her head.

Allison was glancing at her passenger in the rearview mirror from time to time.

Looking back, she remembered how many times she was planning evil plans towards the girl sitting on the backseat of her car. But all of them were thwarted by destiny, instead, the girl was given by her in a silver platter in exchange for the life of one of her minion, it seemed for everything that was given to her there was always one thing that would be taken from her.

Is this a give and take scenario?

She was taken from the orphanage, given a life of luxury, then mentally, physically, and emotionally tortured, then she killed her adopted father, killed one of her minions, and now she becomes a monster for her motives, using another person to do her bidding.

Her innocent life was used and destroyed...now she is going to destroy another person's life

She was playing God.

And loving it.

So this is how it feels if you can manipulate other people's lives, it makes you feel powerful and entitled.

Was she a bad person?

She wasn't a bad person at the very beginning...

But the life that was given to her was painful and horrifying, her whole being was tainted until she becomes the shadow that haunted her very own existence.

The girl sitting on the backseat was just like her in many aspects, they were both victims of life's cruel circ.u.mstances.

On the other hand.

Caroline was suddenly dreading going to Alex's mansion.

But she can no longer change her mind, Allison won't let her change her mind. The mixture of dread, sadness, loneliness, guilt, remorse, anguish...and multitudes of emotions hurled at her in every direction, making her feel so weak. She can't help it, she's getting emotional and nervous, she broke down, as fresh tears sprung her eyes. She cradled her face with her hands and began sobbing real hard.

Caroline's weeping filled the entire vehicle.

Allison wasn't liking it, she gritted her teeth, totally annoyed.

"Stop crying for God's sake! Crying over spilled milk won't get you nowhere, girl!" she reprimanded the hysterical girl.

Still, Caroline won't stop crying.

Allison looked ahead trying to find a place where she can park the car and allow the girl to cry as much as she wants without disturbing her driving.

She can't drive properly if somebody is crying inside the car, she hates crying the most, it's a sign of weakness!

She noticed that there was a public park located nearby, she navigated the car into the direction of the park.

Allison parked the car near the park. She gazed at the trees and the well-manicured gardens in front of her.

She glanced over her shoulder and watched the wretched girl pouring her heart out through her crying.

She picked up some tissues from her shoulder bag and handed it to the girl.

"Here's some tissue...dry your tears..." she said dryly, her words devoid of emotion.

Caroline accepted the tissue and began drying her tears.

There were a few minutes of silence between them.

'Caroline seemed to be slowing down with her emotional breakdown,' Allison noticed.

Just when she was about to start the engine...

Caroline starts crying again!

Dang!

Allison was shaking her head, just when she thought that the girl was already done crying, she starts another session of heartbreaking cries.

Allison can no longer bear it, the girl's cries were getting irritating to her ears. She took a deep breath and looked at the girl. "I'll sit on the bench over there to breathe fresh air. You can join me if you want..."

Allison gets out of the car and walked towards the bench and sat on it.

Back in the car.

Caroline finally has the entire vehicle to herself.

Now that Allison was no longer inside the car she can drown her sorrows by crying nonstop, and cry, she did.

She was sobbing uncontrollably in the next fifteen minutes.

While outside...

Allison watched the couple holding hands strolling in the park. The woman was staring at her man lovingly in the eyes, in return, the guy planted a quick kiss on the woman's forehead. The woman giggled happily.

Aww...sweet!

She smiled a bit...

She never had a loving experience with a lover.

Her first experienced of s.e.x and intimacy was with her adoptive father. She never had a normal relationship with any man, she was afraid that she was never good enough for anyone because she feels like she was dirty and no guy would ever take her seriously after learning her dark twisted history.

Her f.u.c.k.i.e.d up life was meant to be a secret. Besides she has no plans to open her heart to anyone and experienced the joy and pain of loving.

She wants to be in control...she doesn't want to suffer anymore...and the majority of the books she reads...they all showed her one thing...that loving someone comes at a great price.

So what's the point of loving someone when you just give them the power to hurt you anytime?

She glanced over her shoulder to see her car, she can't see the inside because the windows are tinted.

Caroline was still inside crying, probably.

She fixed her gaze on the fountain located on her right side.

Suddenly, her phone starts ringing...

She fished out the phone from her shoulder bag. The caller was her brother.

"Sis, where are you? Why have you not come back yet?" Alex said.

"Were at the park right now."

"Huh? What are you doing in the park?"

"Caroline began crying and would not stop. I can't drive properly when somebody serenades me with their crying so I have to find a place to stop and get out of the car..."

"So...where is Caroline right now?"

"She's still inside the car..."

Alex can be heard sighing at the other end of the line.

"Just let her go...set her free..." he finally said.

Allison's brows snapped together after hearing her brother's suggestion.

"What? No way! Now that Caroline is ready to commit to being with our dying brother, I won't let go of this golden opportunity! I'm not that stupid!"

Alex sighed again.

"I dunno about your arrangement with Caroline but...I feel that you are forcing her to do something that she doesn't want to do! That's not the proper way how to deal with people!"

Allison shut her eyes. "Here we go again, brother! Let's stop talking about this!" she snorted. "Instruct your cook to prepare delicious dishes for lunch. We will celebrate Caroline's coming into our lives!" she said firmly.

She ended the call abruptly at her end, not giving her brother any chance to continue his argument.

It annoyed her deeply when her goody shoe brother tried to go against her plans while she was only doing this to honor the request of her dying brother.

She's only trying to be a good sister the only way she knows how.

Was she a bad person when she only wants her brother to be happy before he passed away?

Was she a bad person when she was only trying to help Caroline hide her dark secrets?

Well, she can't deny that there was a manipulation involved when it comes to her handling of Caroline.

But then...everything has a price to pay in this world.

Everyone must sacrifice something to achieve what they want.

Isn't that the law of nature?

Plant a seed so that you can harvest something...someday.

Right?

She killed one of her minions to protect Caroline, was she that bad?

As far as she can remember, she just killed two people in her life. One was her evil adopted father and the other one her minion who was trying to kill Caroline during that time. She saved Caroline's life for her brother.

As for her own, she saved her life from her sick monster adoptive father who plunged her life into a hell of torture.

The only way to be free from other people's control is to kill them so that they can no longer hurt and control others!

She's been giving the world a great service by killing a monster!

It might be a little bit twisted reasoning for others to digest but they don't understand her sides unless they undergo the same hell that she went through.

A few minutes later.

Done sorting her demons, Allison is now ready to go back to the car and deliver Caroline to her brother's doorsteps.
