Chapter 163 - If She's Lucky

The women arrived at Allison's mansion. They proceed to the minibar room upstairs.

"Make yourself comfortable, Caroline," Allison said.

Caroline sat on the sofa.

Allison looked at her companion, shaking her head. "I was wondering... why did you marry your boyfriend? You will be gone for a few months. What's the point of marrying him and then disappeared from his side? I don't get it..."

Caroline massaged her temple. "Call me selfish, but I just want security after I come back. I just want to make sure that he will never find another woman to take my place while I'm away. That's the reason I married him at a civil wedding ceremony."

Allison's eyes narrowed. "Ah, okay...I see...I got your point now. After knowing about the wedding I was angry at first. I thought you are trying to abolish our deal."

Caroline shook her head. "No. I'll go ahead with our deal. I'll fulfill my promise to you..."

"Good!" Allison was feeling relieved upon hearing Caroline's words.

She rose to her feet and took the bottle of red wine and pour it in two glasses.

"Here, let's have a drink..." she said.

Caroline accepted the glass that was offered to her and took a sip of the red wine.

"So... when are you going to leave your husband's side?" asked Allison.

"After our honeymoon. We have booked a reservation in Harmony Oceanfront Resort in Palawan. We will stay for five days there and then return here to Manila. After that, I will leave him," Caroline replied.

"Sounds good enough for me," Allison said. "If you need my assistance... just tell me...I'm ready to assist you anytime," she offered.

"My problem is... I'm still not sure how to leave him..." Caroline said in confusion.

Allison's brows drew together. "Huh? You don't have a plan yet on how to disappear from your husband's side?" she asked.

Caroline nodded her head and sighed deeply. "Yes, you are right, Allison. I have no concrete plan yet until now," she admitted.

They were silent for a moment.

Allison stared at the red wine, then a devilish smile appeared on her lips. "Why don't we just kill your husband, have him meet an accident so that you can inherit his wealth after you come back. What do you think?"

The color drained out of Caroline's face after hearing Allison's evil suggestion. "No! Please don't do something brutal to my husband. I love him! Allison, promise me, you are not going to do anything to my husband!" she pleaded.

Allison laughed loudly. "Oh...look at you! Calm down...just relax Caroline dear. I'm just suggesting an effective escape route for you. I'm not saying literally I will kill your husband right away, it's up to you. I'm just joking," she said and ceased laughing.

Allison's face turned serious. "Anyways, just leave him without saying anything. Do it when he was away. Don't worry about what will happen after you're gone. Just let him speculate what happened to you. Once you already disappeared without a trace, there's nothing he can do about it," she said.

Caroline has been thinking of the same scenario in her head.

She wanted to vanish without putting her husband and family in great distress.

But then she realized that it would be impossible for them not to worry about her disappearance. It's futile to shield them from future worries and stress. They're bound to get hurt and suffer from her abandonment.

And as the days were moving forwards and her plans come nearer to completion she was getting restless...

Allison watched the tormented face of Caroline. "I will arrange a gate away vehicle for you on that day you plan to disappear. That's my way of supporting you," she offered.

"I will call you if needed one," Caroline responded. "I will go now, Allison," she said and rose to her feet.

"Alright, enjoy your honeymoon then," Allison said.

Caroline sipped the remaining wine in her glass and put it back in the center table.

The two women exited the room and went downstairs.

Caroline entered her car and bid goodbye to Allison.

She started the engine and drives the car towards the gate.

Allison watched as Caroline's car exited the gate.

She released a deep sigh. She will only feel confident if Caroline will finally start living in Alex's house. For now, it's still a wait and sees the situation.

Caroline can still change her mind any minute and changes the course of her plan. But she has to give her a benefit of the doubt. On that specific night of the murder case, she didn't hesitate to kill her minion to protect her, which would give Caroline a glimpse of what she's capable of doing.

She went back inside her house to rest upstairs in her bedroom.

Caroline traveled for more or less thirty minutes going back to Eastview Subdivision.

She arrived at her house at 9:00 in the evening.

Thelma was still wide awake when she entered her bedroom.

Her mother was watching a television show with low volume because baby Cathy was already sleeping in the bed.

"Did you already eat your dinner?" Thelma asked.

Caroline nodded her head. "Yes, Mother. I already have dinner in a restaurant with my friend Jessica," she said. She told her mother a lie in her text message earlier, that she was meeting Jessica her friend in Cavite City when she was still working there as a saleslady.

Thelma turned off the TV and walked towards the door.

"Thank you for taking good care of my daughter, Mother," she said.

Thelma just nods her head in response and exited the bedroom.

Caroline walked to her daughter's side and kissed Cathy's head.

She went inside the bathroom to clean herself and then change into her pajama.

A few minutes later, she exited the bathroom.

She picked up her daughter and transferred her into her crib.

She reached for her tablet in the bedside table and check her messenger. She found messages of Hector and Clara informing her that they will arrive in the country the next day and John will fetch them from the airport. Then they will visit her during the evening to see baby Cathy.

Caroline sighed heavily. She's going to miss her baby terribly. She looked at her daughter in the crib sleeping soundly. She went to the crib and picked up Cathy and placed her on the bed.

She will sleep with her daughter by her side on the bed tonight.

Susan and Hector were online and want to have a video call so that they can see their granddaughter.

Caroline activated the video chat and focused the camera on her sleeping daughter.

She began talking...

"Hi, Auntie and Uncle... good evening... how are you guys?" she conveyed her greetings.

"We're good," replied the couple smiling at each other.

"I'm sorry... baby Cathy is sleeping right now. You want me to wake her up?"

"Ah...no need. We're contented watching her sleeping right now," replied Clara.

"Tomorrow, we will arrive there in the airport terminal. So, we will visit your house in the evening. Is that okay with you Caroline?" asked Hector.

Caroline nodded her head. "Yes, I'm looking forward to your visit, Uncle, Auntie. My daughter and I are excited to see you again tomorrow evening," she said cheerfully.

"Great. We will log out now because we need to rest early for our flight tomorrow. See you soon, Caroline," Clara said.

"Bye Uncle, bye Auntie," Caroline said.

The couple log out from their messenger account, Caroline did the same and set aside her tablet, she put the device back in the bedside table.

Caroline watched her daughter's face lovingly.

"I'm sorry that you will go away for a while, daughter. I'll see you soon after I come back. Don't hate Mama for doing this, okay?" she said tearfully.

Tears were streaming down her face. She feels sad and bad about leaving her daughter behind.

But she has no choice. If she will go to prison, she will leave her daughter behind, it's the same story.

If she will go on trial just to prove her innocence... her family, John, and Mike's family will be dragged into the scandal and she was afraid that their businesses will be affected by the crime she committed trying to defend herself.

The mess she got herself into, is emotionally and mentally draining.

There were days that she can push her demon away but some times they would appear in full force and reduced her to tears. It's so agonizing to remember how she stabbed Brenda's heart with the knife she was holding in her hands. During that moment she was not thinking of any possible consequences, she just wants to survive and save herself from harm, in the end, she killed someone so that she can continue living.

The price she had to pay just to continue living in this world is maddening.

Then she remembered that she was supposed to die in the hands of Joseph... but she was lucky to elude death during that time when Joseph changes his mind at the last minute and killed himself instead.

She was supposed to die again when Brenda was about to stab her with the knife she was holding, 'coz she knows that if that deranged woman starts stabbing her... that crazy bitch would not stop unless she stops breathing.

She escaped death two times...

Now she has to suffer the consequences of her refusal to submit to destiny.

If she can survive and managed to stay sane after all the tribulations in her life...maybe...she will have a happy ending with Mike and live a fulfilling life after destiny is done creating havoc in her life.

Right now... she can only hope for a much brighter and secure future with her husband after all these madness ends.

There will be ten or more excruciating months ahead to pass... or presumably one year from now if she's lucky.
