190 Be wary of enchanted swords, please! part My first instinct was to throw dirt at Lorenzo’s eyes and follow with a swing of my blade, but even I somehow managed to hit him his steel plate armor would stand in the way just like before. Instead, by placing my hand on the earth I sensed a familiar feeling, the same feeling I experienced when I dug my hand in the mud at the bottom of the lake.

The flow of mana wasn’t nearly as strong here as it was over there, but it’s enough.

The only thing I need to care for is to avoid touching that sword, even indirectly. The misterious energy that courses through his blade is so fast it’s impossible to dodge, but as long as I don’t touch it I should be safe.

An Idea comes to mind, but I’ll have to put it to the test first. Instead of throwing dirt as it is, I harden it. Good thing is I only needed to spend a single point of mana for that.

I throw the arrowhead shaped piece of hardened dirt just to the side of Lorenzo, but try to keep control over it in the air to make it turn and hit him.

*clank*

Of course it did no damage, he didn’t even notice it, but a grin appears on my face.

Confident on his advantage, Lorenzo allows me to stand up on my own. My trembling legs barely support my weight, but my resolve is too great.

I don’t hate him, I just hate the fact that he turned his back on me, that he betrayed his friends, people who trusted him. But he’s only human and I can’t blame him for that.

.....

“I hope you’re being paid handsomly for this, because if not you’ll regret it”

“Oh, I am being paid a lot more than your worth”

Lorenzo replied with a smirk, and just before he went in for another hit I started pouring all my mana outside. Just like last time, I couldn’t care less if I’m left empty, I can’t afford to focus on expending it slowly.

The natural flow of mana gets invaded by my own, overtaking its course by force. Three thin lines made out of my own mana rush over to my former cursed blade, Risa’s sword and my obsidian knife at the same time. Dirt gathered on their hilts in a thin layer, but strong enough to lift the weapons in the air the same as if they were being wielded by a human hand, and they started spinning around me in a simple but fast manner.

Althought their movement is predictable, Lorenzo is taken by surprise. I guess no one would expect something like that to happen. It’s not really a spell or a skill, but something in between. I just hope this is enough to keep him from getting near me.

I need to keep my focus on the pieces of dirt controlling the seemingly flying blades, but my hands are free now which allow me to grab a potion and recover myself while Lorenzo is still gaping at my demonstration.

“Just what the fuck are you?”

He said in a low tone of voice.

I could answer, but I’m currently too busy trying to control my weapons, Lorenzo tried to probe my defense and poked with his blade. The tip of his sword clashed against a fast moving obsidian dagger, completely crushing it.

But then I realized, I was able to feel my obsidian blade the same I could feel the earth under my feet. It’s sharp pieces scattered on the air, but somehow I was able to put them together and shape it into a different shape.

Lorenzo didn’t know what to do, the enchantment of his sword was rendered useless and I was left with an advantage. But I didn’t want to win the fight, I bought enough time already and all I needed was to run away with my head still on top of my shoulders.

But how am I supposed to leave after hearing what he did to miss Risa? she didn’t deserve something like that, much less at the hands of someone she thought was her friend.

Just a bit of payback, that’s all I need.

Instead of retreating like I was supposed to, I tried to push my advantage by walking close to Lorenzo. My spinning blades were swirling faster and faster, the sound eventually became louder and gusts of wind dispersed close by.

Lorenzo tried to fall back, only to find himself cornered against a tree.

When I walked forward, controlling the blades as best I could, Lorenzo simply climbed on top of a branch, rendering my onslaught useless.

As if things weren’t bad enough, Risa’s sword got stuck on the tree, leaving me with only two floating blades.

The branch creaked as Lorenzo jumped on top of me knowing full well I would be unable to block or parry his attack, but there was one thing he didn’t expect me to do.

Now that he was on free fall right on top of my head, I shifted all the mana I was focusing on the blades into the fire attribute.

Fire gathered on the palm of my hands and grew in a split second because of the sudden burst of mana, something like a ball made out of fire was shot directly at Lorenzo who had nothing but a sword to defend himself.

He fell limp in front of me, but my consider skill warned me that he was still alive and conscious. His hair had been burned and his sword fell at some distance from him.

Just when I thought It was safe to run away, he started laughing like a maniac again.

“Hahaha, I didn’t think you would even put up a fight and now I’m like this. Guess I have no choice but use everything I have”

He said after letting out a whistle, calling his pseudo dragon.

Five seconds, ten seconds, a full minute and nothing happened. We were just standing there awkwardly waiting for the other to make a move.
