191 Be wary of enchanted blades, please! part “What the fuck is going on!?”

The gentlemanly, well mannered instructor, didn’t hesitate to swear now that he was no longer employed by the adventurer’s guild.

Even if I wanted to answer the question I couldn’t, I was just as surprised as he was, yet, all it took was a quick check with sense presence to realize what had happened. Lorenzo’s pseudo dragon had been defeated by a mob of goblins.

They not only killed the beast, but also butchered it and took all of Lorenzo’s belongings.

I start retreating without turning my back on my enemy, I’m completely defenseless against the powerful enchantment embedded on his blade. Blocking or parrying are completely useless, and if I try to hit him I risk being zapped.

My mana has ran out completely, but luckily he doesn’t know that.

“Where do you think you’re going? If I don’t bring the girl I won’t be paid and all of this will have been for nothing”

“You say that like it’s my problem”

“It kind of is, why did you have to stand in my way... why couldn’t you act like a proper adventurer and make money for me? I want you to know that what happened to Risa is all on you, if you didn’t play such stupid games I wouldn’t have been pushed to do this, now my only chance of making it alive to the sacred empire is to bring a mage with me, I wonder how much will they give me for you”

.....

His bloodshot eyes looked like those of a wild beast, his facial hair was non existent and his skin was blackened by the fire. It would have been a fun sight, it may have even brought a chuckle from his pupils, but he looked so fierce and dangerous laughing was the last thing Ryu would do.

“So it was about money, uh, how about I give you what’s on my purse and we part ways then?”

I’m not a good negotiator, but even stalling for time could be useful to recover myself from the huge toll my body took after harnessing so much mana at the same time.

“And why would I let you go when I can simply beat the crap out of you and take what you got?”

He shrugged with a wide smile as he walked towards me, unarmed.

I know his sword was dangerous, but for some weird reason his behavior now was even more terrifying.

“You want this!? go fetch it dog!”

I say as I show him one of the light blue coins Heimar gave me as payment after completing his quest. Lorenzo’s face brightened up at the sight of the immensely precious coin and followed it with his sight as it disappeared on the dense vegetation.

“Why did you have to do that!? do you even know how valuable mithril is!?”

He didn’t throw himself into the bushes like I thought he would.

“If you have the guts to throw a mithril coin like that, it can only mean you have more on you”

That’s true, I do have more, Heimar did pay handsomly for the egg shell, but there’s no way he knows that for sure.

“Stealth, camouflage, concealment”

I whisper to myself, activating all three skills in rapid succession.

“Do you really think you can hid from me like that? I still see you, as clearly as before. Don’t you know you need to disappear from someone’s line of sight before activating them?”

“I knew you would say something like that, but you see... that’s only true if I fight like a human”

I draw a knife from my sash, it’s not enchanted, it’s not even a good one. Just a regular, plain steel knife I got cheap at Quarrydew.

My grip on the hilt is so tight I can feel my veins pumping blood, I feint an attack but instead of going for Lorenzo I jump head first into the bushes.

Lorenzo followed me with his eyes until I completely disappeared in the foliage.

“That’s useless too! hahaha”

But his laugh was short lived as I attacked him from behind. My cheap knife was no match for his high end plate armor, but just like the rock scorpions, the joints were unprotected. I went for his right leg, slashing directly behind the knee cap. It was just a shallow wound, but he let out a yelp.

The second he turned back to face me, I was in the bushes again.

Lorenzo quickly understood what I was doing and rushed for his sword. As soon as he grabbed it, the sparks started fizzling again in the air.

“So you’re fighting like a gobling now!? It really suits a weakling like you I must say”

The next second I was right in front of him, wielding my knife directly at his sword. The battle hardened warrior held his sword tightly and braced for the impact, but I let the knife fall, shifting it into my other hand only to stab him, using my aim skill, precisely in between the junctions of his armor.

Lorenzo let out a groan and hit blindly in the air, but I was already on my way south to reunite with my friends.

Last thing I saw was a barrage of arrows flying towards Lorenzo, forcing him to run the other way. Not even an A rank adventurer was an opponent for a goblin army, let alone a former B rank adventurer like him.

Bardun was the first to greet me, not even a minute had passed since I left the battle, but as soon as I saw him I already knew I was safe.

“Hello brother, I came to rescue you but it seemed to me you had things under control”

The goblin said in a fluent manner, I’m actually surprised at how much he improved in this little time.

“Thank you for coming, but how did you know?”

“Goblins know what happens in our turf, I’m sorry for your friends, they were good warriors, but we were late”
