Contrary to his expectations, the geyser that he predicted to appear didn’t. That wasn’t all. The water barely trickled out from the opening.

Even though Shang Xia didn’t know what just happened, his instincts told him that the disturbance was caused by the descent of the Martial Dipper Realm ancestor of the White Deer Paradise.

Even though he didn’t know the exact method the ancestor used to appear in the You Continent, he knew that it had something to do with the reduction in the amount of water in the underground river.

After thinking about it, Shang Xia decided that finding another boulder to block the underground river was useless. Instead, he widened the hole.

The amount of water coming from underground had returned to the level when Shang Xia first discovered it. The extermination mist that was emitted by the water was also nowhere to be seen any longer.

When Shang Xia was pondering over what Youshang told him and thought if he should carry out the plan and dive into the underground river, he heard a massive explosion coming from above.

The last bits of hesitation flew out of Shang Xia’s mind as he widened the opening of the underground river even more. However, he chose to wait a little longer just to be safe.

With the appearance of the gray light, the rose-colored bridge became even more sturdy. Shang Xia quickly understood what was going on. The bridge was a medium for the Martial Dipper Realm ancestor of the White Deer Paradise to suck away energy from the Tongyou Institution!

At the same time, he realized that the underground river wasn’t just a simple body of water. It might be a way for the White Deer Paradise to send the energy back to their holy land!

With the gray light slowly traveling towards the Changfeng City, Gao Yun made use of the formation he laid down several days before to channel the energy he had received. The underground river started to swell once again, and Shang Xia started to see a dense layer of mist emerging from the surface of the water.

No longer hesitating, Shang Xia dived into the opening. His Origin True Qi filled his body as he sank deeper. He didn’t use the Water Repulsion Pearl the moment he entered the water. He located the general direction leading towards the Changfeng City before bringing out the pearl.

No longer fighting the flow of the river, Shang Xia eventually found an opening in a rock face not too far away and burrowed his way into it. A long narrow passageway appeared before him.

Seeing that the river had widened, Shang Xia knew that he had arrived at the main body of the underground river.

When Shang Xia estimated the amount of water flowing through the underground river earlier, he thought that the underground river would fill the entirety of the space it was in. However, it seemed as though the underground cavern that contained the river was barely half full!

After stepping onto the passageway, Shang Xia felt a bone-chilling cold seeping into his body. Despite using the Water Repulsion Pearl to prevent himself from touching the water, he couldn’t avoid the icy qi in the air.

From what Youshang and Mister Bu told him in the past, the underground river flowed from north to south and it crossed the entire Thousand Leaf Mountain Range. As long as he followed the river in the general direction of the Changfeng City, he would be able to arrive at the spirit cave he was supposed to be looking for.

Realizing that he was quite a distance away from the Changfeng City, Shang Xia sped in his intended direction. Luckily, the Water Repulsion Pearl increased his speed when traveling through the water while keeping it away from him.

Even though it might be a little slower than when Shang Xia traveled through the Mountain Range, there weren't any obstacles he needed to avoid in the underground river. All he had to do was to run straight.

Running for one hour through the darkness, Shang Xia discovered that the current was growing heavier and the water level was rising.

With anxiety eating away at his heart, Shang Xia pushed himself to the limit and increased his speed once again.

He hadn’t run far when a deep rumbling came from his surroundings. Soon, the noise became louder and the river started to sway slightly.

Understanding that there was no way he could avoid whatever was coming, he grabbed onto the cracks in the rock beside him and pressed himself flat against it.

Right as he completed his preparations, a loud whistle tore through the underground cavern and the current became stronger once again. The air bubble he had by using the Water Repulsion Pearl shrunk violently as the chill invading his body became stronger. He wasn’t too shocked by both of those changes. Instead, he was surprised by the sudden thickening of the heaven and earth qi around him!
