Bite You! (2)

Old Jian had already stood on the podium in the classroom and was lecturing passionately.

“On National Day, we didn’t call everyone to return to school in advance because we decided to do something new and instead, decided to allow you guys to have three full days of vacation.” Old Jian said movingly and continued to say, “Initially, I thought that you guys would cherish this few days’ time and at least do your homework well. But why did you guys fail to live up to your teacher’s earnest expectations?”

Class 9’s students sat upright below. After all, this was their class teacher’s course and they didn’t dare to act too rashly.

Old Jian raised the list of names in his hand. “After the teacher checked this in the morning, why were there only six people in the whole class who had actually finished their homework?”

He looked down at the name list that Tang Tiantian gave him just now, with only a few names on it. “Tang Tiantian, Niu Xiaoqing, the study representative Zheng Liuyu, Bai Jing… eh? Ruan Qingmu?”

Class 9’s students below simultaneously let out a “wow” while looking at the back in succession.

Eh? Where was the sports representative who had been at the front of the line for the morning exercise?

Old Jian looked for a long time, his face darkening. “Where is Ruan Qingmu?”

Bai Jing hurried to cover for Ruan Qingmu rather familiarly. “Reporting. The sports representative suddenly had a stomachache. He will return after going to the bathroom!”

Old Jian’s face finally looked a lot better. “Students, students. Keeping up with your studies is the most important thing. Look at how much your sports representative has improved. Don’t you guys feel ashamed?!”

In the past few days, he fought hard with the Education Department over the matter of Ruan Qingmu and he was supposed to be given a demerit. But Old Jian had argued strongly on behalf of the boy and the punishment was finally lowered two levels in a row and he was only given a warning.

When he saw a good friend being wronged and bullied, he couldn’t help but fight for justice. Ruan Qingmu’s temperament was a little explosive, but in the end, it was obvious that he had a good heart.

Look, he had even finished doing his homework on time. Even if the homework wasn’t his own work and was something that he had copied, it was better than those who didn’t finish it, right?

At least he had the right attitude.

Huang Ya secretly gave Bai Jing a meaningful glance. “Did you sell the answers to Ruan-ge at a good price?”

Bai Jing lowered his voice. “Of course not. Ruan-ge has his own answer source.”

It must be that Boss Qin finally agreed to let Ruan-ge copy his homework. After all, they had a relationship where he would go out of his way to injure himself to help Ruan-ge out at the sports competition. He didn’t dare to divulge this secret and felt almost stifled to death from holding it in.

Old Jian began to talk about a new topic. “Before getting on with my Chinese lesson, I want to emphasize again: the midterm exam will be coming soon. This is the first major proper exam this semester! Everyone should take it seriously…”

“Reporting.” Ruan Qingmu slightly gasped and stood at the door. “Teacher, I’m sorry for my tardiness.”

Old Jian looked at him in suspicion. “What happened to your face? Why is it so red?”

Did he have a fever?

Ruan Qingmu tensed and earnestly explained himself, “Just now, I took my time coming back from the morning exercises. A stray dog kept on tailing me, wanting to bite me. I finally escaped from it after running around the entire school.”

Old Jian glared daggers at him, his face darkening, and pointed his finger at him. “Why would there be a stray dog on the school grounds?! Do you take me for a fool?”

Ruan Qingmu said, “I’ll go take my seat now!”

Bai Jing extended his hands and covered his face. When Ruan Qingmu walked past him, he whispered with a bitter look on his face, “Ruan-ge, why couldn’t you have found a more reasonable excuse? I said you had diarrhea.”

Ruan Qingmu didn’t seem to hear him at all. His eyes drifted as he walked straight to the back row and sat down.

Old Jian spoke sincerely on the podium. “In short, I want to see all of your potential on this midterm exam. Everyone should strive to improve and be a pioneer, all right?”

“Okay~~~.” The sparse responses came from below.

After everyone had responded, another voice suddenly sounded out in the quiet classroom. “Okay.”

It was clear and loud, carrying a little bit of confusion with it.

Damn. Who was such a boot licker that they wanted to answer alone?

Everyone looked back successively and saw their sports representative looking blankly at them, falling far behind on his reflex arc.

Everyone successively turned back their heads and pretended not to see anything.

Forget about it. Forget about it. Whatever Ruan-ge did was always cool. Even if he was in a daze, he still looked very adorable.

After school was over, the atmosphere in the night self-study was noticeably more tense than usual.

What Old Jian said during the day was not entirely without effect. It was almost halfway through the first term of the sophomore year and parents would certainly be informed of the midterm results. Everyone was slightly nervous, even if they weren’t worried about their parents flipping out.

The college entrance exam was still far on the horizon, but it seemed right under their noses. Everyone wanted to do their best so that they would get into a good university and be able to major in a subject that they liked. It was a dream that was on everyone’s minds.

The sports competition was like the last party before they got back to the grind for the remaining semester. Now, every student in the school would struggle to get better results in the exam.

Usually, the classrooms would not be full until after 6:30. But just after 6:15 today, most students were in the classrooms, doing their papers and revising their homework.
