Birthday Banquet (1)

Rothgarr was relieved when he saw Dawkins at first. After all, this unremarkable forty-year-old man was by no means a match for the young and handsome Raymond, and Anna’s tastes were not so unique, let alone the other party being only a two-star mage. Raymond on the other hand was much younger than him but was about to become a three-star mage.

But then Dawkins’s snarky words caused his face to turn ugly. What kind of guts did this person have to dare to snatch Anna from him? He was biting off more than he could chew!

Although the current Rothgarr would have a headache if he used his mental power, he would not care about such trivial matters when he was angry. If someone dared to covet his prey, then they should be prepared to be killed by him!

However, before Rothgarr could do anything, Anna stepped forward and settled the dispute with one sentence: “Mage Dawkins, Mage Raymond was just accompanying me to take a look at my work environment.”

Dawkins was stunned: “He isn’t here to take you away?”

Anna both answered and corrected his statement at all times: “He doesn’t need an assistant, and I’m only taking over the task on your side at the moment.”

Dawkins let out a long sigh. The hostility in his eyes disappeared, and he said with a smile: “Then it’s fine; you really scared me to death. Anna, you can’t abandon me, I waited half a year for you. If you leave, what am I going to do?”

“Don’t worry, I won’t give up this task for the time being.” Anna deliberately corrected Dawkins’s words again. If he said it so ambiguously and angered the demon, then she couldn’t guarantee what would happen next.

Hearing the conversation between Anna and Dawkins, Rothgarr realized that it was Dawkins’ ambiguous words that led to his misunderstanding.

Although he was very upset to see that Anna and Dawkins seemed to be quite close, Dawkins cared about Anna’s ability to do the task rather than being fascinated by her charm, and thus he was finally in a better mood than before.

Dawkins glanced at Rothgarr, whose face did not look so good. He pulled Anna to hide aside and asked in a low voice, “You and Raymond Mage… what are you guys?”

Anna couldn’t help laughing. She didn’t think that Mage Dawkins was rather gossipy.

“We’re friends,” Anna said. “He was just coming to take a look. He’ll leave in a moment.”

Dawkins smiled and said: “If he is free, he doesn’t need to go. You said that you two are friends, so he wouldn’t watch you do it alone, right? He ought to help you out, right?”

Anna looked at Dawkins as if she was looking at another person: “Mage Dawkins, you are very courageous.” He actually dared to recruit a mage who was about to become a three-star mage! And that person was actually a terrifying demon under that human skin!

“Aren’t I trying to encourage your friendship here?” Dawkins was very thick-skinned, smiling as always, “If he doesn’t want to, forget it, I’m just asking casually anyway.”

“He can’t help even if he wanted to. Some time ago, we went to the line of life and death and were besieged by demonic creatures. He is currently in a state of mental overdraft, and it will take a long time to recover.” Anna said.

Dawkins said regretfully: “Then that really can’t be helped. There’s always a chance next time.”

Anna was amazed when she heard these words. He was really thinking about next time? Mage Dawkins really was unscrupulous for the sake of finding assistants……

“Mage Dawkins, then I’ll get to work.”

Anna walked up to the demon and asked him, “Do you want to go back first, or watch me make an extract? It takes 40 minutes for me to do it once. It’s rather boring. If you want to watch, you can stay and leave after a bit. You don’t need to let me know.”

Anna asked the demon to come, just to let him see with his own eyes that Mage Dawkins was not a threat to him at all, so that he could feel at ease. After this goal was achieved, she could naturally drive him away, but she still had to put it nicely.

“I’ll watch you do it,” Rothgarr said.

His impression of Dawkins was not good, and he did not plan on leaving for a while.

Anna nodded and brought over a stool beside her for Rothgarr to sit on. Meanwhile, she began the same preparation as she had done yesterday.

Dawkins secretly observed Anna and “Raymond” at first, for fear that the presence of “Raymond” would disturb Anna. Later, seeing that Anna was attentive and unaffected, he couldn’t help giving Anna a thumbs up in his heart.

Even an excellent and beautiful man on the side like Raymond did not distract her; Anna’s willpower was truly amazing. But this was not good; it was easy to miss out on love.

Dawkins couldn’t help thinking that when he was young, a beautiful girl who was a mage disciple like him often came to look for him in the potion lab. She would sit by his side for a long time. At that time, he was like Anna, all his attention was focused on potions. Later, the girl kept on coming less and less, and in the end, she stopped coming all together. His younger self actually liked the girl very much, but at that time, he cared more about his potion/, so when he finally finished the preparation of the potion and went to find the girl, she was already with another mage.

And now, that girl was the mother of two children, and he was an old bachelor who was addicted to potion preparation.

Dawkins smiled wryly. He didn’t actually think much of these old things. After all, his life was usually filled with potions. It was only that the scene in front of him today made him feel nostalgic, and he thought of it.

However, he thought that this pair in front of him would have a better ending than his own. Anna was a very talkative and flattering girl, unlike him, who was too clumsy and awkward to chase his beloved girl back. But…what man didn’t like a beautiful and sweet girl like Anna?

Dawkins watched the two secretly, gradually admiring Raymond’s patience.

He thought that a talented mage like Raymond would not have the patience to watch a mage like Anna do the simplest preprocessing, and would leave after two minutes at most. Contrary to his belief, Raymond stayed until Anna was nearly done with the first preprocessing of today.

Dawkins couldn’t help but sigh. He guessed wrong. He thought it must be the sweet and beautiful Anna who was “sticking to” Raymond. Now it looked like Raymond was the one chasing Anna.
