Birthday Banquet (2)

How great it is to be a youth!

Anna needed to be diligent when preprocessing, so she was very focused and had no time to pay attention to the demon. Only when she was done did she discover that he was still there.

She asked in surprise, “Why haven’t you left yet?”

Rothgarr frowned and said, displeased, “Are you in a hurry to drive me away?”

Anna hurriedly shook her head: “No.”

She was afraid that he would be bored, okay? If it was her, she wouldn’t be able to stay for longer than a few minutes if she was asked to stand on the side and watch without any sense of participation.

Logically speaking, Rothgarr was not a very patient person, but he had spent several months with Anna, and the matter of “being patient with Anna” had become his favorite mantra during these months of trials and tribulations.

He used to accompany Anna to practice the simplest spell for a few hours, and so he did not find it boring to watch her concentrate on the preprocessing of the potion now.

He gradually discovered that when Anna was concentrating on her work, the corners of her mouth curved into a very shallow arc, as if she was immersed in and delighted by it. Whether it was reading a book, practicing a spell, or working with potion ingredients, as she was doing now.

He was suddenly a little jealous of Anna’s passion for magic.

If only she could transfer her love of magic to him…

Rothgarr suddenly returned to his senses. He clenched his fists, and deliberately added to his unfinished thoughts just now—Then, he could complete the bet he had with Balan.

Even though no one knew what was on his mind, Rothgarr was a little unhappy.

He stood up suddenly and said, “Since you don’t want me to stay, I’ll leave.”

Because the demon didn’t interfere with her work when he was staying here, Anna really didn’t need to drive him away. She said quickly, “I really wasn’t thinking that way, you…”

Rothgarr didn’t listen to Anna though, and went straight out.

It stood to reason that Anna could catch up and coax him. She believed that under the current framework of getting along with him, she should try and persuade him, but she thought that it wasn’t a big deal for him to be a little upset. It wasn’t a matter of principle—for example, him thinking that she was interested in other men and wanting to possess someone else—so she didn’t chase after him, but instead began to prepare for the second extraction.

Dawkins, who saw this scene, thought of the beloved girl who had been driven away by his ignorance, and felt as if the same tragedy was about to repeat itself. He didn’t have the heart to ignore it, so he reluctantly persuaded: “Anna, I’m not in a hurry here, you should still focus on your life events, don’t let Mage Raymond’s heart turn cold.”

Anna had not yet begun the preprocessing of the wisteria. She heard the words and looked at Dawkin  with an innocent smile in her sky blue eyes. She said: “Mage Dawkins, do you want me to go after Mage Raymond? However, what if Mage Raymond told me to stop doing tasks here? You know the situation in his family…”

Anna didn’t even need to make it clear; Dawkins understood what Anna meant. With Raymond’s wealth, how would Anna need to come to him to do this kind of task?

In an instant, all the sadness and pity flew away. Dawkins looked at Anna with a serious face and said, “You are right, Anna, you must focus on the task! You can preprocess with the wisteria here to help you master your magic. It will be of great benefit to your future. Don’t let childish flings cause you to do things that you will regret for the rest of your life. Believe me, your talent is extraordinary. In the future, when you become a four-star or even five-star mage, there will be plenty of handsome young mages who want to be your partner!”

Anna really wanted to roll her eyes. She was only seventeen and he was already starting to tell her about looking for pretty boys when she was older? Even if she was willing, he’d have to ask the demon if he agreed or not!

Anna said with a fake smile: “Excuse me, I’m going to start work.”

Dawkins was still worried. Even when he was pushed away by Anna, he was still trying to persuade her. “Really Anna, feelings are the most unreliable, the only thing you can rely on is your magic. Wait for your magic to improve, and all those young talents in the capital will want to pursue you, let alone Raymond.”

Anna started the first method of crispening while simultaneously thinking in her heart that if that was the case, their bodies would be finished.

When Dawkins saw that Anna had started working, he didn’t dare to disturb her any more. He quickly shut his mouth and walked away, only looking at her worriedly from time to time.

Anna’s efficiency today was higher than yesterday. The high-intensity training had indeed greatly helped her to control her mental power. When the last batch of extractions were finished, she found that the time she took to complete one extraction from the beginning to the end had been shortened to thirty seven minutes.

Although the improvement was not much, she was excited considering that it was only one day’s effect.

Indeed, she was a genius. She had more confidence in becoming a five-star mage now; the only thing she needed was time, as well as  the demon not being wary of her… The latter would be more difficult in the future, so she would have to change her strategy accordingly when they got there.

After two days, Anna had prepared a total of 45 units of wisteria extract for Dawkins. According to his previous habits, he was almost ready to start his new potion experiment.

Originally, Dawkins never thought of calling Anna for the experiment of the new potion, but the arrival of Raymond gave Dawkins a sense of crisis. He felt that it was necessary for Anna to see the value of his potion lab, so he said to Anna: “Tomorrow morning I plan to start my new potion experiment. You can come over if you don’t have anything planned. I believe you can learn something.”

Anna was rather excited when she heard these words. She was equivalent to a freshman who was still cleaning test tubes for the graduate students and her seniors, when suddenly she got the opportunity to watch the boss’s core experiment. Although she probably couldn’t understand it, why wouldn’t she want to see it with her own eyes?
