Chapter 30:

Qin Jiulin sensed a hint of murderous intent in Liu Zhongyuan’s serious tone, implying he might act if Duan Qiufeng attempted anything again.

Qi Yu cleaned up the bloody paper towels and threw them far away from the villa. Qin Jiulin and Liu Zhongyuan continued to go out. They were going to look for prey. In a year or two, it won’t be too difficult to find, but right now, it’s genuinely scarce. Liu Zhongyuan has shifted from not consuming completely atavistic prey to regularly consuming partially atavistic prey.

This is an unavoidable situation.

Qin Jiulin, currently not transformed into a giant tiger, sits directly on Liu Zhongyuan’s snake head. “How about today we hunt the atavistic wild boar with the highest degree in the group?”

Liu Zhongyuan sticks out his tongue, hissing twice in agreement. They had decided on this earlier – the most powerful one in the wild boar group would be their target for today.

Of course, their hunting is open and fair. The group of wild boars numbers around fifty, possibly formidable in the face of the two, but as long as they quickly kill the leading boar, the rest will scatter, preserving their lives.

Qin Jiulin, seeing they’re almost at the location, descends from the snake head, transforming into a giant tiger. Silently, they approach the area where the pig group rests at night – a moist wooded area.

Qin Jiulin’s tail gently sweeps over Liu Zhongyuan’s snake head, feeling like a light breeze. The wild boar group is resting, scattered in a disorderly manner. Surprisingly, their target is sleeping at the edge.

Qin Jiulin always thought the strongest would be in the middle, but having the leader at the edge is advantageous for their ambush.

They exchange a glance, and the plan they discussed earlier is now executed effortlessly. Qin Jiulin initially thought it might be troublesome if the targeted boar slept in the middle, but it turns out to be straightforward.

The giant tiger’s massive paws land on the ground without a sound. The deeply sleeping wild boar doesn’t sense a thing. Slowly approaching the target, when they’re about three meters away, Qin Jiulin estimates the distance and direction, then springs out from the darkness.

The giant tiger’s speed is incredible. The deeply sleeping boar’s neck is severed by the tiger’s huge, blood-stained jaws before it even wakes up.

The wild boar group quickly becomes agitated. They start standing up, ready to charge at the tiger. However, they soon realize their leader is gone!

Taking advantage of the brief chaos, Liu Zhongyuan swiftly wraps up the giant tiger and disappears in front of them, with the boar still clamped in the tiger’s mouth.

This boar weighs at least five hundred kilograms, but for the giant tiger, it’s effortlessly lifted.

The wild boar group sees the combination of the giant tiger and the giant snake, along with their leader being taken away. In hesitation, and with Liu Zhongyuan successfully escaping, they decide not to pursue. Even if they did, it might not end well.

The wild boar group gets agitated for a while, then, led by the new strongest boar, they change their resting place for the night. It becomes quiet again, but tonight, they won’t be able to sleep peacefully.

However, Qin Jiulin and Liu Zhongyuan aren’t interested in the boar group’s situation. Since the hunt was successful, they will head straight home without lingering outside.

The number of wild boars in the group is still quite high. Qin Jiulin’s speed and jumping ability are excellent, and Liu Zhongyuan’s scales have spikes, making them invulnerable to this group of wild boars.

However, killing all of them might be a bit troublesome, especially since they can’t consume them all at once. The strong scent of blood might attract completely atavistic animals they can’t handle at the moment.

After all, the tusks of these wild boars are not just for show, and their weight is considerable. Getting hit by a couple of them might not be a problem, but a group collision could lead to significant issues.

The two slip away quickly. Once they confirm the boars behind haven’t caught up, Liu Zhongyuan puts the giant tiger he had wrapped around himself on the ground. The wrapping isn’t too tight this time.

Qin Jiulin puts down the prey from his mouth, and Liu Zhongyuan, in human form, walks over to Qin Jiulin. “Shall we go inside first?”

Qin Jiulin hears the words near his ear, instinctively turns around, witnessing an explicit scene. However, both are grown men, and even if they are exposed, it doesn’t matter much. After all, they aren’t wearing anything.

“Let’s go, I’ll open the door.”

Qin Jiulin took the keys and opened the door. After entering, both of them picked up their clothes from the sofa and got dressed. At this moment, he suddenly felt that they seemed fair in seeing each other undressed, but he felt like he got the short end of the stick.

With a somewhat skeptical look, he glanced at Liu Zhongyuan until Liu Zhongyuan’s puzzled gaze met his. Only then did he avert his eyes. Liu Zhongyuan, wearing a T-shirt, approached, “What’s wrong?”

Qin Jiulin replied, “Nothing, go bring in the wild boar outside. It’s not safe to leave it there. There are animals in the villa area that won’t sense our presence.”

Liu Zhongyuan said, “Alright, but you’re coming with me. How can I handle a nearly thousand-pound wild boar alone?”

Qin Jiulin smirked, stood up, and went out together. “Let’s go.”

In the end, they both moved the wild boar into the bathroom designated for processing game. They didn’t use the bathroom for personal hygiene; it was solely for handling food.

This was inevitable. Dealing with food outside would spread the strong bloody smell too far, attracting animals within several kilometers. Not only animals, but sometimes even non-poisonous insects would be drawn to the scent. They were helpless when facing a swarm of insects.

At this moment, Qin Jiulin also thought it was time to gather some insect-repelling plants from the wilderness and plant them in the yard. After all, Qin Jiulin had no intention of leaving this villa to live elsewhere.

Even if Xia Liansheng came looking for him, he had no intention of leaving. There wasn’t a definite relationship between him and Xia Liansheng, and he could use Liu Zhongyuan to drive people away if needed.

Qin Jiulin quickly freshened up, went upstairs to his room, and slept. Liu Zhongyuan stood in the living room watching him go upstairs and said, “Goodnight.”

Qin Jiulin was a bit stunned. Goodnight?

“Uh, goodnight.”

Lying in bed, he felt a bit dazed. How long had it been since someone said goodnight to him? Seriously, the last person who said goodnight to him seemed to be Xia Liansheng?

Why was he constantly thinking about that guy today? Blame it on Liu Zhongyuan saying goodnight earlier. Forget it, stop thinking and go to sleep.

But come to think of it, Xia Liansheng must be with the other members of the Qin family now. He wondered how things were going. Xia Liansheng, as a lone beastmen, had to take care of the ordinary Qin family members. He hoped they were living well.

By the way, if he remembered correctly, Grandpa and Granduncle seemed to have turned into semi-beast individuals from the beginning. In other words, now there were two elderly people, a middle-aged couple, and the weak Qin Jiuzhen in the family.

Thinking about it, Xia Liansheng was really pitiful. Because no one knew the true nature of the Qin family better than him. They would grasp onto anything advantageous, refusing to let go even in death. When facing their own demise, they would choose to drag the other down with them rather than let go.

As dawn broke, Qin Jiulin didn’t get up early. He lingered in bed for a while before going downstairs. At that time, Liu Zhongyuan was inside the bathroom dealing with the game. However, there was no sign of Qi Yu.

Qin Jiulin walked to the bathroom door, “What’s going on? Has Qi Yu not woken up yet?”

Liu Zhongyuan said, “I went to the basement this morning. Qi Yu was sleeping with a flushed face. It seems like there are signs. How many days do you think he’ll be weak?”

Qin Jiulin replied, “Regardless of how many days, take care of him during this time. When he recovers, squeeze him dry.”

Liu Zhongyuan nodded earnestly, “You’re right. Now, come help me process this wild boar. It’s a big one, and it’ll take too much time if I do it alone.”

Qin Jiulin had no objections. He rolled up his sleeves, took a small stool, and was about to sit down to help Liu Zhongyuan when it seemed like someone was knocking on the door outside.

Liu Zhongyuan’s eyes flashed with a hint of displeasure. “Why is there someone again? It must be the neighbors. Go check, constant knocking is annoying.”
