Chapter 1756: MapOn the third morning.

Sam took out his bow once again. But this time, the arrows he used are a bit different. They are arrows with very intricate formations laid on them.

Sam didn't even use his own spiritual energy that much to power the arrows. He just used his special bow that uses the environmental spiritual energy to boost the arrows as well as trigger the formations on it.

And when the arrow reached a certain distance the formation inscribed on it is trigged. As soon as that happened, a large elemental energy net started from the arrow's tip and fell on to the surroundings.

The buildings and infrastructure is destroyed. No matter what is in its way, the trees, rocks, streets, houses, and buildings, all took the damage.

Sam is not using a precise method to attack these people, instead, he started bombing all of them with this weird wide-ranged attack.

The players didn't understand what he is doing at the start. Particularly when they noticed the damage the arrows are actually doing. It is not much.

It took at least three attacks for the arrows to critically damage one of the targets and at least one more for them to die. That is so unlike Sam who likes to finish off things quickly once he started it.

But some of them understood.

Particularly Noah and Kumar.

The rest of the players just used the transition factors between the day mode and night mode to make it easier for themselves.

But Sam is doing it to make it difficult for others. Noah and Kumar instantly understood what he is doing.

So, they made a plan of their own.

Sam is killing people in other regions than his own. Meanwhile, Noah and Kumar sneaked out of their own regions and started attacking Sam's region. Noah used her wood elemental energy to catch hold of the targets while Kumar killed them off with his spear.

And their primary chosen targets are the people that are trying to get near Sam. In a way, they are raking in points while stopping the targets disturbing Sam from gaining his.

Of course, that is what it looks like at the first sight at least.

As Sam destroyed almost half of the city slowly and killed a large bunch of targets, time passed and it is night mode once again and this time, he didn't really care if things are not going well or not. Until evening he just focused on covering as much area as he can.

For the first time, a lot of targets are trying to hide for their lives instead of attacking the players actively. This gave players an interval to attack some of the targets with much less pressure than they usually had.

Arkiv and Akhil who are not exactly the strategic kind of the bunch actually felt that Sam's actions might have helped them a bit in the morning.

Of course, they also killed the targets with the least complicated and most obvious techniques, so they figured in the night mode, the undead that appeared around them will be easier to deal with.

Only as soon as the night mode came, they realized how wrong they are.

Sam moved away from his vantage point as soon as the night mode started and he started laying down a formation.

The undead creatures started spawning within no time. And one-third of the undead creatures spawned that night actually appeared with a bow and a large quiver of arrows.

They aimed the arrows toward the players within their areas and started shooting. Unlike how Sam just bombarded the arrows randomly, the undead creatures are a bit more focused on targeting the players.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

The city started shaking with the explosions.

The players looked around and felt flustered as they had to hide a bit to reduce the chances of getting hit by these wide-range attacks.

"For fuck's sake. Is this why he agreed so easily? Why would he unleash something like this on us?" Kumar said as he defended against the arrows that are falling nearby.

He is a bit angry. But it is not exactly because of the strength behind these attacks. If he had to face these attacks in a regular scenario, he would wipe the floor with these undead creatures easily. But the problem now is that he has to conserve his energy.

The ranged attacks don't work on these creatures as the arrows provide a pretty decent cover even if they are not particularly aimed to provide that defense.

So, the players have to block these arrows before reaching them and finishing the undead off. Which consumes a lot of their energy.

That is why Kumar is a bit pissed. He never expected that Sam would have this kind of trick up his sleeve. He definitely believed Sam could do something like this, but he didn't expect he would.

"Wouldn't Sam also lose a lot of energy like this? I mean, he has more energy reserves than us, but I highly doubt it will be enough to make him expend this much." Kumar asked Noah.

"Sometimes, I think you are just plain stupid. Do you honestly believe that Sam would make this kind of move if he doesn't have a way to defend against these attacks more efficiently?"

Noah cursed as she used some vines to drop some seeds in different directions.

Meanwhile, back in Sam's area.

He is currently in the middle of a formation. When an arrow is coming at him with an open elemental energy net, the formation is simply dissolving the next and the arrow became nothing but a projectile that is easy to dodge.

He took out his sniper rifle and started taking off the undead archers that are shooting those arrows. He is saving his energy and finishing off the undead while the rest of the players are expending tons of their reserves.

As he is enjoying the smooth situation he created himself while raking in the points, Sam suddenly sensed something. He felt something invading the formation lines, but it is not an arrow or any other ranged attack.

They are vines.

As he realized this and started becoming cautious, he noticed that a bunch of undead creatures surrounded his formation sneakily. They all held spears and vines are spreading from their feet as they tried to restrain Sam.

Sam looked at the spear technique and the vine technique. He instantly knew who it was that made it possible. He is really impressed.

The vines entangled his legs and the spears were shot at him.

Sam changed his sniper to his handgun and shot at the spears flying at him.

Meanwhile, he used his fire elemental to burn off the vines that are coming at him.

He was sneaking carefully until then, but now the fire element and the explosions that are happening within his vicinity attracted all the undead creatures in the surroundings. The archers that are mostly focused on other players are suddenly focusing on Sam himself.

"Great job, guys."

Sam muttered as he dealt with the creatures coming at him and the night mode slowly passed.

As the transition happened slowly, Sam took the chance to recalculate his energy levels. Right now, he is at three-fifths of his reserves. It should have been more than that, but last night's attacks from Noah and Kumar actually threw him off to backfoot a bit.

And then he started calculating the number of targets left.

The previous day he killed most of the small fries in all regions. There are only a few dozen people left but they are all strong. Even for players, it would take some time and a few more moves than just a simple straightforward attack to deal with them.

After a thorough calculation and some scouting with his eye technique, Sam estimated that there are around 84 people left.

He didn't know exactly the energy levels of other players, but he believed it is not that much.

So, he started thinking of how to use these 84 targets to maximum efficiency. If divided equally, each player gets 12 targets. Of course, it is not going to be a fair distribution, every player tries to get more targets than the twelves.

After thinking for a moment, Sam smirked and started creating a bunch of maps within his divine dimension. Six maps of the city and the locations of all the targets.

He noticed that these targets are not exactly rash and stupid enough to just move around and get killed. So, he believed they would cover a very concentrated location to try and take down players when they come to them.

So, the map is actually very useful.

After mapping them down, Sam used some of his puppets to send these maps to these players.

The locations of all eighty-four targets are available to everyone. He also sent a message.

"From what I can see on the surface, these are the last eighty-four. I don't know the exact points you guys accumulated, but I  am guessing mine is way beyond any one of you. So, here is the last chance for you guys to make a move.

If it helps, I will not make a move for the next twenty minutes."
