Chapter 1757: Intervention

Chapter 1757: InterventionAfter Sam sent that message, all the players halted their actions for a moment.

They all became a bit wary and didn't dare to make their moves immediately. The last eighty-four are obviously strong candidates. They are already a bit cautious about fighting with them. They also knew that Sam is trying to make their life a bit difficult based on what happened the previous day.

What scared them, even more, is that Sam knew all of their locations.

This also implied that Sam has a way to track their movements. So, they are not sure if they should go ahead and take his tip to take these targets while knowing that he could catch them

They don't know what Sam is going to do with this knowledge of their locations and movements.

They got a bit scared and that is exactly what Sam wanted.

He wanted to see who will make the first move and if no one did and they just waited, the better it is for him.

From his calculations, just like how there are not many targets left in the day, there are not many left in the night mode as well. The only thing he needs to figure out yet is if the dead bodies from the day mode are being added as undead in the night mode.

And this accurate measurement of killings will give him the data he needs.

Ten minutes passed as Sam kept observing the movements of the players and the targets.

And the first player to make a move is Dayus.

Sam smirked as he got the information from his puppets. He instantly made his puppets move to get a better view of what is happening.

Dayus went to the nearest target. He ran at his top speed without the fusion that he could possibly gain. The purple lightning crackled as he skid on the road. He stood firmly and threw the spear with all the strength he could muster.

A lot of energy has been expended.

The spear went through the target with a crackling and whistling sound.

The target fell dead.

Dayus smiled in delight as he looked at the dead target. Now his points increased by a significant amount at that.

But he didn't make his move immediately. He wanted to make sure that he didn't fall into any of Sam's traps. So, he tried to look for the puppets around him. When he did find out, he wanted to see what exactly that puppet do.

But minutes slowly passed but there is no movement from the puppets. He went as far as staying put for the next five minutes.

Meanwhile, the remaining players are still in a skeptical situation. They didn't want to make a move even after they realized that one of them had attacked.

From the sound and the flashes that they saw, it was not even that hard to figure out who did it.

While they are contemplating, Dayus made a move once again. But to his discontent, he had to find the new locations of the targets. They moved because of this attack.

He started running around in the city sneakily with his spear. When he reached close enough, he halted in his tracks as his feet skid on the road. Purple lightning surrounded his body as he took his spear and aimed at the target.

One of the targets is alone and very much isolated compared to the rest of the targets.

As he threw the spear with full force, it made a crackling sound through the air and reached the target with an extreme speed.

Dayus expended a lot of energy on this attack.

Since Sam knew their locations and can track their movements, he afraid that Sam might steal their kills and even make use of very random and hard to defend attacks, which will make the night mode an unbearable time.

So, he wanted to be quick, and even if he spent much more energy than he should on this.

When he saw the spear inching towards the target at that speed, he is sure that he would be able to get this target.

He couldn't help but smile. With his petty brain, he took this as a tiny victory. A very tiny victory over Sam.

But before he could even finish that grin, a light beam came out of nowhere.

The light beam hit the spear. The spear obviously wasn't destroyed completely, but there is a slight deformation made on the tip and this made the trajectory of the spear alter every so slightly.

The spear went through the shoulder of the target, taking the whole shoulder away and while putting the rest of the body in a paralytic situation. The target felt his heart stop for a moment and then was about to fall to his knees.

But even before he could hit the ground and in fact even before the spear could pass through the body, the puppet shot another light beam. This light beam went straight to the head.

The target fell dead.

Dayus was stunned. He didn't expect this intervention. He looked at the dead body and then at the puppet. He thought he made it in time. But his twenty minutes are over.

He didn't believe that a spear hit that he believed would even make Sam flinch and think twice before intervening directly could be redirected and played with, just like that. By a mere puppet no less.

He couldn't even find out if the target was killed by the puppet itself or if his spear did manage to take that life.

The attacks seemed to have been done in a very precise manner.

The timing is out of this world.

He gritted his teeth and kicked the stone beside him. It is kicked into the wall directly. The house nearby got destroyed.

Some of the players managed to hear the explosive sound that came from the spear throw.

When they understood this, they didn't want to back out too much and made their move.

Donner is first and then it is followed by Akhil and Arkiv. Even Noah and Kumar didn't take too much time.

Meanwhile, Sam smiled at their decisions.

He knew they would do that.

Everyone is thinking that Sam is a bit unpredictable at the moment. Even Noah and Kumar who seemed to have a better understanding of Sam and his tactics thought so. Particularly, when they met him and told him that they will try to steal points from him in the game.

They just thought Sam wouldn't afford the courtesy of giving them that leeway. They assumed it would be a trap.

But too bad, they judged Sam by their own standards.

He indeed meant what he said. But too bad for them, they didn't take the step to attack. Even though he half expected that Dayus would take the first move, he still didn't expect that level of caution from that guy. It is not exactly Dayus' strongest forte.

All of it doesn't matter now though. The time he gave is already up and now it is his freaking time.
