Chapter 553 - Believe in ...

Mist Kingdom, Main Castle. Three hours later.

One of the things she liked about having Allen as her fiance was that he would not demand unreasonable things. Nor will he disturb her when she is out on official business. So when she received his summons in the middle of her academy tour, Lyn did not say anything and immediately left.

Wear traditional clothing was written in bold letters on the notice.

This explains her current attire, and it's been a long time since she has last worn clothes like this. She wonders if it looks strange.. But more importantly, this is odd.

Odd.

Such strange summons from Allen, she wonders what it's all about. The messenger didn't say any details either; usually, they give a briefing along the way. But this time around, there's nothing; she wonders if anything happened.

It cant be to do with their right? She knew Allen was doing her a favor and delaying it as much as he could but maybe even for him, it was too much. Despite all those strange rumors about her and Rhys, she knew that his grandparents still intended for her to marry Allen.

She knew many were dissatisfied with her since Kazuya and Rhys came here. But even though they disliked her for that, they still intend to go through with the arrangement. It struck her as odd why they would insist so much. Surely her actions would disqualify her as Allen's spouse?

"Princess, if you keep looking down like that, you will trip."

"I won---" Her own sentence was cut short when she fell forwards only to be caught by Rhy's arms.

"Just when I said it. Gee, are you alright?"

"Uh yes…."

That surprised her, and it was kinda scary…

She suddenly feels him pat her back lightly. Something was reassuring about his hand on her back. Unfortunately, Rhys ruined this moment by commenting.

"Since your dressed like a Princess for once, don't ruin your clothes."

"B--be quiet!" Lyn exclaimed, and Rhys only laughed.

But somehow, she feels a lot calmer now. That's right, and this is how it always seems to be whenever she's with him. She feels calm, like there's nothing to worry about at all.

Still, she peeked over at him. "Was it okay for you to leave like that?" Rhys is a student there now, and she knew from reading the information from her mother, it was difficult to get permission to leave.

"It's fine, and I have a pass."

Lyn also knew that there were some students exempt from that rule.

"Then is that where you go when you disappear?"

Rhys nodded. "Yeah, but sometimes I do some actual work so I can find something to report about."

Is that so? Her thoughts broke off when Rhys suddenly leaned down and cupped her cheeks. "Your acting strange, Princess. Did something happen when you disappeared earlier?"

"N-nothing, I was just speaking to Ryuuko."

"Alone?"

Lyn immediately regretted what she said and averted her gaze from him. That was the wrong move since Rhys hates it when she looks away. Her thoughts broke off when she saw an odd look appear in his eyes that was mot anger. He pulled away and started to walk ahead.

"We should hurry."

"Wait a moment." Lyn extended her hand out and grabbed hold of his clothes.

"What is it, Princess?"

Isn't he acting a bit cold? Even though they did that kind of thing back in the academy? Lyn took a deep breath. "Finish what you were about to do just there."

"What I was about to do, huh?" Rhys ran his hands through his hair. "So Princess, are you saying it is okay for me to assault you?"

She felt her cheeks grow hot at those words. Is that why he touched her face just a few minutes ago? Did he want to do something? Lyn looked at her surroundings cautiously. They are in the middle of the hallway, and this place is not too far from the meeting point.

Her thoughts broke off when Rhys suddenly lifted her up. "Uh, Rhys?"

He does not say anything but soon found herself in the waiting room they normally receive guests in. He locked the door and tossed her onto the couch. "You really want me to finish, Princess?"

"Calling me Princess again, you're too cold!" Lyn exclaimed.

Rhys should know how uncomfortable she is with her title. So why does he keep using it?

"I need to draw a line somewhere."

She felt an unusual pain appear in her chest when he said those words. Why does he have to draw the line? What is wrong with what they have now? Why cant they get closer?

Her thoughts broke off when Rhys leaned forward and licked her tears. Tears?

"Lyn." He mumbled softly. "I told you to trust me already."

"I don't like it when your cold. How can I tell what your thinking?"

"You should imprint this in your mind then, every single moment I spend with you and every time I touch you. Believe in that rather than my random coldness."

So he admits it? But believe huh? Kazuya also told her that before he left. He told her to trust Rhys no matter how bad things get. Lyn took a deep breath before she nodded. "Can you kiss me?"

"We have around fifteen minutes before anybody realizes."

"Plenty of time?"

Rhys grinned. "I will finish in five."

…..

He finished in four with time to spare.

Lyn felt awkward and very self-conscious. Rhys already fixed her clothes up with magic, but it scared her that somebody would notice. When she arrived at the doors, she spotted two people, one of the twin squires, the older one Gilbert, and her guard Pupilliam. Both of them wore formal knight attire.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #..._52049276389349339 for visiting.

"Welcome, Princess."

"They called you two as well?"

Pupilliam nodded. "They believed that it was best for three guards from your side to witness the ceremony."

Eh, ceremony?

"The princess is here." Naoki said.

Lyn hears a muffled sound at the door saying 'enter', the doors opened, and she saw the familiar sight of the throne room. It wasn't just Allen alone but her second brother there too.

Also, a familiar man stood in the center. "Ah, Lieutenant."

Rhys pushed her forward, "Come now, Princess."

Lyn was puzzled and yet made her way to the center.

"Dear, this man is here for his guard coronation despite the delay. I have already heard the reasoning, and it appears as though your brother approved of it already."

It was unlike Allen to dress her with 'dear,' but whenever he does the, she knew to start behaving like a Princess. She took a step forward

and at that, Teo goes down to one knee and bows.

"Forgive my tardiness. But I still have every intention of serving you, if you'll allow me."

What tardiness? Ever since the General explained the takeover, she frequently spends time with him. Then again, she supposes they have to do this for formality's sake. Unless perhaps Allen only just heard about this arrangement?
