Chapter 324 - Glass Treasure Part 1

So they boarded the long carriage. But, Rhys still had his doubts about this whole thing. Meanwhile Lyn? She is acting as carefree as ever.

"I want that one, that one and that one," Lyn pointed to the food.

The girl was currently ordering so much food. She's definitely drawing too much attention to herself. Then again, this must be the first time she's ever boarded a long carriage; much or less eat common food. Rhys could remember being the same as her. When he first took a step outside the elite world, the world outside seemed so very vibrant and beautiful — a place filled with all sorts of things he had never seen before. As an elite prince, any new food was tasted for him; the books in the library are books on becoming rulers, and the internet is limited only to certain things in a world that is supposedly filled with countless things to do. Rhys was always bored.

However, when he finally took a step outside, he realized exactly how much of a trapped bird he was. He realized how much the world outside had to offer. From now onwards the second Princess is surely to come in contact with the outside world even more. So in a sense, this trip may be a good experience for her since she has to learn about it anyway, especially if she's going to be helping them out. But he hardly thinks that now is the time.

What should he do? Maybe he should trick her into going back home, or maybe he could just talk her into it. The later would seem impossible in other people's eyes. However, he knows her better by now to understand that she's someone who is willing to listen to reason.

A sheltered Princess? Sheltered and abandoned. Two contradictory words that normally wouldn't go together.

But his opinion towards her is slowly changing to a more positive light. Although he has a feeling that until she achieves that 'objective' that she mentioned, there's no way he would be able to persuade her. This sort of situation could have been avoided if her husband set up a better amount of traps. Rhys had discussed things with the fiance ahead of time, keeping Lyn in that place. He didn't want Prince Allen to send his men looking for Lyn, so he made preparations beforehand.

Rhys continues to stare at her, as Lyn bites into the burger, her eyes brightened, "This is delicious. How strange I thought fatty foods would taste terrible. But it's quite satisfying... Oh, this drink, too, it's fizzy, but it makes you feel happy somewhat."

Despite her slight formal language. Rhys is somewhat relieved to know that she's capable of speaking normally. It was the same with the lady at the beginning wasn't it? It took a long time before she dropped the formal language. But, huh wait a second, it felt like she was fine using it around him. 'It's merely because you're easy to push around. 'His face color turns pale, recalling the words that person told him. He wonders if he really does give that sort of impression?

Still, his gaze landed back onto the girl sitting across from him, who was eating happily away as she stared outside the window. Does she even realize one bit just how dangerously reckless it is for her to be out here? No, wait, that expression she had in town when she answered him... She does understand her position as the daughter of Queen Orthez and King Daichi, daughter of the Mist Kingdom. A supposedly neutral land, his only daughter, the will marry into the Wind Kingdom - is siding with the lady. Not only does it bring about criticims of the harshest kind; but it puts her in the same amount of danger as the lady.

She really does eat a lot, doesn't she? For someone who's so fussed about maintaining her figure as a princess. Now that he thinks about it, he had asked her companions back when he was still on her case. Back then they said quite a bit. Rhys learned quite a bit. About this girl called Lyn.

__

Lyn felt Rhys looking at her and looked up, is he hungry? He keeps staring at her food. Ah, he hasn't eaten anything either. He just came back from the market and rushed to her right away.

Lyn extends her hands out, giving him one of the burgers, "Here, please have one."

"There's no need, I'm not hungry."

"Really? It's tasty, though, and you keep staring at my food."

"I'm staring at you, not the food."

That comment shut her up for. a good few minutes. Why is this man so shamelessly straight forward, she's never met anybody like him before. "Lyn."

"Yes---" her sentence fell short when Rhys lips met hers again. This kiss however felt even more strange for her than the last. The way his tongue explored hers made her shudder. Her entire face felt like it was burning.

"W--what is it this time?"

Why does this man keep kissing her? Does he have a problem or something? "Thanks for the meal."

It's then Lyn sees the trace of burger in his mouth, and her entire face reddened. T--this man why...why is he always...Gahhh, she doesn't know how to deal with him anymore. Lyn decided to focus on her food and ignore him, but she caught a glimpse of his expression from the corner of her eyes.

'He's making that face again.' Lyn thought.

On the surface, it looks like Rhys has returned to normal now. But Lyn knew better. Once in a while, when he thinks she isn't looking, he would get that look on his face. Lyn stood up and scooted over to the seat beside him.

"Are you tired? Rest on my shoulder," Rhys said concerned.

Lyn does as he says, and she felt his hands run through her hair. He treats her so preciously, but she really can't do anything for him. She can't return his feelings, but if she were just to push him away from her life. He would fall apart; even Kazuya advised her to be careful when handling the matter regarding Rhys. If she could just reject him and be done with it, she wouldn't have to worry. Then again, this is no longer a simple case of rejecting.

Rhys seemed to be very infatuated with her. She doesn't understand why, but at some point, she became even more aware of his feelings. On the other hand, she could never get a read on Kazuya's feelings. Lyn sighed whenever she thought of Kazuya these days; she ended up sighing like this. She loves him, and he loves her. But their moments together are so fleeting, almost like a dream.

He is busy with work, she understands that. However, these days, she sees Rhys more. How can she be certain of Kazuya's feelings for her if she can't even see him? Love is such a complicated thing; believing in Kazuya should be enough. But these days all she does is worry. Those rumors about him and her sister do not help either.
