Chapter 66 - Hypocrite

Yu Huiyin was surprised. She had not expected Xie Jingyu to tell everyone her plans openly, and she was slightly embarrassed. She had not even begun her work yet, but he was already finding investors for her.

The Director was also surprised, but knowing that this woman had Xie Jingyu backing her, he did not doubt that it would be worth it to invest in her work.

The other people present all felt that it was worth it to get a good reputation with Xie Jingyu, and thus they wanted to make connections with Yu Huiyin.

In truth, they were quite skeptical as to whether or not Yu Huiyin was the real boss of the company, or if it was Xie Jingyu who wanted to open yet another daughter company.

If it were him who wanted to do this, then it would make sense for him to bring her to this gathering. Thinking like this, many had enlightenment shining in their eyes. So this woman, the female companion, was likely a business partner.

Yu Bingqing smirked when she also reached this conclusion and swaggered towards Xie Jingyu. She was going to use her charm to enthrall him.

As she came closer and closer, she noticed the interlocked hands of Yu Huiyin and Xie Jingyu, and her face turned ugly.

She wanted nothing more than to rush in and separate the two of them, but she dared not do that. Instead, she smiled sweetly. "Young Master Xie, it is our honor to see such an esteemed figure such as yourself at this gathering. I did not believe that you would come, but knowing that you have graced us with your presence, I am very honored to make your acquaintance."

Xie Jingyu looked at Yu Bingqing and remembered her as the woman who had caused Yu Huiyin sadness before. It was only natural to get some payback for her; so he frowned, looked at her, and said with a cold voice: "Who are you?"

Yu Bingqing's smile faltered and her face went pale, but she was incredibly resilient, and she looked at him pitifully as if trying to arouse his tenderness for the opposite gender.

"I am Yu Bingqing, an emerging starlet, and the daughter of Yu Jingshen, the famous director," she introduced herself, and looked at him with a smile she considered to be the most adorable and cutest.

"Oh, I remember Yu Jingshen," Xie Jingyu said with a nod of his head. "He was the man who was unfaithful to his first wife, got three children with the mistress, divorced the wife, and threw her and their two children away, not caring about them at all. A true role model for all the sc.u.ms in society."

The entire area went silent like a grave; Yu Bingqing was not able to keep her expression positive; her eyes were filled with shame, and Yu Jingshen, who had been walking towards them, suddenly stopped in his tracks and retreated to a corner. He dared not show his face.

Yu Bingqing tried to smile, but her smile was uglier than if she was crying. "I think you have misunderstood our family relationship," she said. "It was his ex-wife who was unfaithful first. She was disgusting and disruptive, causing havoc in the family. Her children were equally unruly and took after their mother. They were tarnishing my father's name."

Yu Huiyin was trembling in anger when she heard the words of Yu Bingqing, but Xie Jingyu gently squeezed her hand, which was held in his.

"If you don't want the world to know the truth, don't do it in the first place," Xie Jingyu finally said with a cold expression on his face. "I know that Han Yunfeng was a model wife. She was caught in a conspiracy and divorced. It was never her nor her children's fault.

"If you want to put the blame on someone, make sure to leave no traces."

Xie Jingyu did not go into detail, but the many people who listened in on the conversation could hear how certain Xie Jingyu was.

Although they were unsure as to why Xie Jingyu was so informed about the matters of Yu Jingshen and his ex-wife, they did not doubt him.

As he said, as long as there was evidence, it was impossible to hide. They all began wondering if they should keep their distance from the Yu family.

If Xie Jingyu truly wanted to act against them, then the Yu family would never survive in the entertainment industry. However, surprisingly enough, after saying the final words to Yu Bingqing, Xie Yingyu turned around and looked at the director of his daughter company again, and continued the conversation from before.

Yu Bingqing was standing at the same spot, feeling immensely uncomfortable. Everyone was glancing at her, and she had no other option than to slowly drift away, hoping that no one would notice her.

Unfortunately, the entertainment industry was harsh and ruthless. Although no reporters were invited to the gathering, many still remembered the words that Xie Jingyu had said and realized that Yu Jingshen seemed to be a hypocritical figure.

The other starlets present were also not happy with Yu Bingqing. She had gotten much fame lately, and her resources were also excellent due to her background. Hence, they felt jealous, and now was the perfect time to vent their jealousy.

As such a group of starlets gathered around her, snickering as they mocked her.

Yu Bingqing was surrounded, although these starlets were not ruthless in their words, their veiled mockery was the biggest insult that Yu Bingqing had ever received.

All her anger was placed on Yu Huiyin. Looking at the woman who resembled Han Yunfeng, Yu Bingqing managed to faintly guess their relationship after hearing how Xie Jingyu was looking down on their family.
