Chapter 61 - Unable to Understand

Yu Huiyin stretched her body lazily, feeling accomplished. Xie Jingyu had gotten her a large stack of doc.u.ments, and she had managed to go through them all. What she had learned from this was in no way little.

Xie Jingyu was also amazed by the speed with which she managed to go through the doc.u.ments, so he smiled and ruffled her hair slightly, saying, "Good job."

Yu Huiyin was slightly disgruntled from having her hair being ruffled like that, but upon seeing the happy expression on Xie Jingyu's face, she decided to let it go.

She headed to the connected bathroom and tidied her hair in the mirror before she almost skipped towards Xie Jingyu.

"Are you taking me out to eat now?" she asked happily as she grabbed Xie Jingyu's hand in hers, without realizing what she was doing.

Xie Jingyu glanced at their joined hands, and he smiled at her and nodded his head. "We will go to a Sichuan restaurant now. But are you sure it is okay? Sichuan cuisine is known for its bold flavors; it will be very spicy."

"It's okay," Yu Huiyin grinned. "I can't eat it every day, but I can have it from time to time, and right now, I really feel like having something spicy."

Xie Jingyu said nothing, but he tightened the grip on Yu Huiyin's hand. It was not before now that she noticed her action, and she wanted to drag her hand back, but Xie Jingyu was holding her too tightly, not allowing her to withdraw it.

Sighing, she gave up. Yu Huiyin had a slight blush on her face, but she was feeling sweet in her heart. If she did not know better, then she would almost believe that the two of them were truly in love and an adorable couple.

As they left the office, Xie Jingyu took his private elevator, not lightening the grip on Yu Huiyin's hand. As they descended into the parking bas.e.m.e.nt, Xie Jingyu took Yu Huiyin to the car and got her to sit at the front passenger seat, right next to him, as he began driving the car.

Xie Jingyu had gotten a table at a Michelin star restaurant. It was the best Sichuan restaurant in the entire capital, and he wanted her to only enjoy the best of the best.

Usually, when Yu Huiyin ate Sichuan dishes, it was when her grandfather made them, and it did not often happen as he was not a big fan of spicy food.

After making it to the restaurant, a parking valet took the car and drove it to the parking lot, while Xie Jingyu led Yu Huiyin into the restaurant.

He had booked a room for them, and Yu Huiyin was extremely excited. She looked everywhere, her eyes glistening like a child seeing a Christmas tree for the first time.

The smell that was wafting around in the restaurant was tantalizing, making her mouth water, and she was impatient to taste the delicious food.

Xie Jingyu was able to guess her thoughts rather accurately, and he knew that she was dying to eat. He could not help but laugh lightly at her innocent foodie ways.

But he understood her worries. Before, she had trained herself to eat very little, she was often hungry when she claimed to be full for the sake of ensuring that her grandfather and brother ate enough.

Anyone who was always hungry would turn into a glutton if they were given a chance.

Yu Huiyin was unaware that Xie Jingyu knew even this. She was very grateful to Xie Jingyu for everything he had done for her. At this point in time, she had long since forgiven him for having tricked her into marriage. In fact, she no longer thought it to be such an unbearable thing.

Xie Jingyu was attractive. He was rich, he was faithful, and he did everything to help her. How could she possibly ask for more?

At the same time, she was also slightly worried. Her standards for men were skyrocketing through the roof. She already knew that it might be impossible to find a man even better than Xie Jingyu, but she also did not think that he was really hers. It was a contact marriage, after all.

Suddenly Yu Huiyin turned a little sad, her expression listless as she thought of these things. Xie Jingyu instantly noticed the change in her person, and he was perplexed.

The woman who had been so happy just moments before about getting to eat Sichuan cuisine was suddenly depressed? What could possibly be behind this?

"Are you okay?" Xie Jingyu asked as he looked at Yu Huiyin, and Yu Huiyin, who was unsure about her own feelings, just nodded her head, before she shook it.

"I don't know," she said honestly. "I just feel very sad all of a sudden."

"What were you thinking about?" Xie Jingyu asked, and Yu Huiyin considered the question. It seemed to have been the fact that they were connected through a marriage contract that had caused her sadness?

That was something she definitely could not say, so she just shook her head. "Don't worry," she said after thinking for a bit. "I just felt a little emotional."

Xie Jingyu could not help but feel that she was hiding something from him, but he did not pressure her to say anything. Instead, he reached out his hand and took hers into his.

Holding her by the hand, he led her to the room where the menu was waiting for them to look at what they wanted to order.

By thinking about food again, Yu Huiyin's mood suddenly soared, and she was instantly excited again, tossing all the sad thoughts aside, as she did not understand them anyway.
