Chapter 152 Two Days

Dave did the fastest thing he could think of after figuring out that Emma wasn't in a good condition.

He quickly made his way downstairs and straight to the kitchen to pick up a small plastic bowl which he filled halfway with water before quickly making his way upstairs.

"Hang in there." He muttered as he entered the room and dropped the bowl on the cupboard before he quickly made his way to the wardrobe area and began to go through her stuff.

"Where is it?" He kept mumbling as he kept throwing things getting in his way out of the way. "There it is." He said with a relieved tone after finding what he was looking for.

Her pink face towel was just what he was looking for.

He picked up the face towel before quickly making his way to the bowl of water, he didn't waste anything soaking it inside the water.

He then brought it out and squeezed the water out a bit before he folded the towel and placed it on her forehead.

After doing that, the goalkeeper let out a sigh before he slowly turned his gaze to the clock to see that the time was 11:30 PM.

"This should calm her down for a bit but I should take her to the hospital to make sure she's on the safe side." He muttered before turning his gaze back to her.

"It's too late to go to the hospital."

The way her throat and eyes moved before she said those words and the way the words had come out in broken form was proof of how painful it was for her to say.

"You're awake," Dave said, he sounded relieved to hear her voice.

"You haven't slept yet." She attempted to turn her gaze to him but Dave stopped her before she could do it.

"Hey, don't stress yourself." He said. "How do you feel?"

"Cold." She replied.

"I told you earlier that you needed medications but you said you were okay." He said.

"I felt okay." She said before slowly closing her eyes and opening them again. "Please help me up."

"Why? You shouldn't get up."

"I need to use the bathroom."

Her breathing was having fewer seizures now but her voice was fading with each word she said.

"Oh," Dave said before he slowly put his arms around her to help her up from the bed.

After that, he put her right arm around his shoulder and led her out of the room and to the bathroom.

After using the bathroom, he started helping her back to the bedroom but on the way she suddenly stopped moving.

"Anything wrong?" Dave asked.

"No, it's just that...."

She couldn't finish what she wanted to say as she had suddenly lost consciousness and because Dave didn't have a firm grip on her, she slipped off but just before she could hit the floor, he managed to catch her right on time.

"That was close."

<What a night this is turning out to be>

_______ _______

Her consciousness was slowly returning as she slowly opened her eyes which had to quickly close because of the effects of the sun's bright rays entering the room through the window.

Opening her eyes again, she found out that she was in the hospital, the drip put on her was all she needed to see, and turning her gaze to her right, she found Dave sitting beside her.

"Dave." She muttered, this time there were no signs of struggling in her voice.

"Hey, you're awake." The goalkeeper said with a bright smile on his face.

"When did you bring me here?" She asked.

"Last night, you passed out so I had no option but to bring you here."

"And then you forgot to sleep." She said, looking at him with her weak eyes.

"Of course, I slept." He said.

"But you didn't get enough sleep."

She could tell by the bags under his eyes.

"I was worried about you but never mind that, I have lots of free time now that the season is over, I can use the whole afternoon to make up for that." He said. "The doctor said you had some kind of flu, I don't know how he put it exactly but he said you're going to spend two days here."

"Two days?" Emma said, almost springing up from her bed.

"Yeah, he said it's not something serious yet but it may become something serious if it's not taken care of soon."

"What about my job?" She asked.

"Don't worry, I went there to clear things up myself this morning which I regret doing, a phone call would have been faster." The goalkeeper said.

"Oh, I see, so I'm going to be here for two days." She said before turning her gaze to the window. "I feel okay, why do I have to stay here for two days?"

"That's what the doctor said, the fever almost completely stops during day time but once the sun goes down, it strikes with full force, it's like a night fever but worse." He explained.

She didn't say anything and just stared at the window for a while before turning her gaze back to him.

"Don't worry, I promise I'll come to visit you regularly." He said before he slowly leaned closer and kissed her on her forehead.

"Really?"

"Yeah." He said with a nod. "I have to go now, I have some things I have to deal with."

"Okay." She said as she watched him walk to the door.

"Get well soon." He said before closing the door.

A few seconds after he was out of the room, she let out a deep breath before she slowly closed her eyes.

_______ _______

The hospital was a twenty-five minutes drive from the goalkeeper's home so that's how long it took him to get home and as always, he parked his car in his usual spot before he stepped down from it and made his way to the entrance.

After entering the house, he looked around the area, the living room, dining, entrance to the kitchen, and staircase before letting out a deep sigh.

"Two days." He muttered.

<She's feeling the same way now>

"I know that's the reason why I said I would visit her regularly." He said moving toward the couch in the living room. "But anyway." He added before crashing down on the couch.

After sitting there for a while staring at the blank television screen, he slowly dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out his phone.

He scrolled through his contacts until he found the one he was looking for, Clark.

He clicked the contact and clicked the call button, the call screen popped up and after a few seconds, it began to ring meaning that the call had gone through successfully.

'It's time to talk about Benfica, it's one of the top clubs to ever exist but for some reason, I just don't think I can bear a move even if it's just a loan move with no buy option.'
