Chapter 153 Hyper Ball Blaster

"Hey, Dave, what's up?" Clark said after picking up the call.

"I'm okay, you?" Dave asked.

"Same here bro and Emma?"

"Uh…..Emma fell sick last night but she's in the hospital now recovering fine." The goalkeeper replied.

"Fell sick? How?"

"Some kind of flu but she's okay."

"Okay, that's good to hear," Clark said. "What do you want to talk about this time?"

"Benfica." The goalkeeper replied.

"Benfica? What about them?" Clark asked.

"Did they contact you about me?"

"No, I haven't heard anything from them, what's going on?"

"Well, they sent an offer to my team, they want me on a loan transfer for next season."

"A loan transfer huh, I guess they don't really need to contact me or you for something like that," Clark said. "What did the board say about it?"

"I don't know, they haven't made a decision yet, it's all up to my father now and I think he's going to agree because they put up quite an impressive amount for me, something I was never expecting."

"Impressive? How much are we talking about here?"

"I don't know, but coach said it was higher than anything the club has gotten for a loan transfer before."

"Okay, then it must be impressive," Clark said.

"A very good reason why they are going to yes and bundle me over to the Portuguese League."

"You don't want to go? You know the Portuguese League is pretty interesting and Benfica is the strongest team there although they're not doing so well this season and are currently in fourth place."

"Hmmm….tell me more, let me see if you will be able to convince me."

"Okay," Clark said. "I don't really know much about the club but they are a very good European side, they've won the Champions League twice, and the Portuguese League thirty-eight times."

"That's all impressive, they're a strong team as you've said but I'm not convinced." The goalkeeper said.

"Why not?" Clark asked.

"I don't want to leave Unique FC and go on some loan transfer now that we've managed to qualify for our first European competition in six years. Sure Benfica will most likely be in the champions league or Europa league next season but I want to play the conference league with Unique FC and even go ahead to win it." He said. "That's what I want and maybe after that, I can go to another team in one of Europe's top five leagues on a normal transfer, have you forgotten that I told you that I wanted my next move to be to one of the clubs in any of the top five leagues."

"I haven't forgotten but a loan transfer isn't actually a move since you will return to Unique at the end of the season," Clark said.

"But it will prevent me from playing the Conference League with Unique FC and I don't want that." The goalkeeper said.

"Okay, but what if your father agrees to the deal?"

"We have to make sure he doesn't," Dave said.

"We? Like you want me to call him and try to talk him out of it?"

"You're always on point Clark."

"Okay, I'll call him and see what I can do," Clark said before letting out a sigh.

"Thanks, you're the best, I'll call you later bye." He said before ending the call.

<Are you sure he will be able to convince him?>

'Of course, he will, my dad has this soft spot for Clark, he sees him like his son.'

<I don't think I understand>

'There was this time I was asking my father for a new boot and he said no but Clark was there and he managed to convince the man with just words.'

<I think it has something to do with the way you asked>

'Maybe but that wasn't the only time, I was a bit jealous and angry at first but I later learned to use it to my advantage in dire situations where I needed my father's help.'

<And you think it's going to work in this situation, you know this is business right?>

'I know but I have a feeling it's going to work if not then I'll have to go talk to him myself.'

________ ________

After taking his breakfast and having an hour of rest, the goalkeeper made his way outside to train.

He planned to spend two hours in training today and that meant an hour in the gym and an hour on the lawn.

After two hours of training, he made his way back inside, his breathing was a bit paced but he didn't look like had done anything that serious.

"That blaster has gotten less challenging, even level seven feels like a twelve-year-old shooting at me." He muttered before picking up his phone from the table where he left it.

<A twelve-year-old with wit and swerve because I can recall the ball going past you thrice and you couldn't do anything about it>

"Hey, Clark." The goalkeeper said after placing the phone against his ear.

"Hey, Dave, I know it's been three hours already but I haven't called your dad yet."

"I didn't call you to ask about that." He said.

"Really? Then why did you call?"

"The ball blaster."

"What about it?" Clark asked.

"It's getting less challenging."

"It has seven levels, Dave."

"Yeah, I mean all seven levels."

"Oh, then you must have improved rapidly."

"Is there one that's better than this one? I mean one way better with more shot power even from level one and better wits."

"Now that you've mentioned it, I was looking at a newly developed ball blaster yesterday."

"Really?"

"Yeah, it's called the hyper ball blaster five thousand, it has new features and the specs match what you've just described."

"Really? What's the price?" Dave asked.

"Haven't checked but I'll check and see if I can get it on my way to Unique next week."

"Okay, that's good, I really need something to push my limits."

"That's new, the Dave I used to know used to complain about reaching his limit too late."

"Yeah, this is a new Dave, I have to go now, don't forget to call my dad before the day runs out, bye."

After ending the call, he dropped the phone back on the table before turning his gaze to the television.

"Hype ball blaster." He muttered.

<That's a cool name>

The goalkeeper was about to sit down on the couch when he heard someone knock on the door thrice.

"Who could that be now?" He grumbled before slowly making his way to the door.

He opened the door to see someone familiar standing there, a face he used to see every day, if not for the red hair, he would have mistaken her for Emma and asked her what she was doing there but the red hair was always the difference.

"Emilia." He muttered.

"Hi, Dave." She said with a warm smile on her face.
