Chapter 601 - Bbad things only happen to kind people

"That woman was very close to father and Yun Jifeng. Not only that, she simply disappeared without a trace for eight months and suddenly reappeared. Who knows what she was up to?"

Madam Yun massaged her head. Forget it. It wouldn't take a short while for her sons to completely accept their sister, but it wouldn't take forever either. Wasn't Yun Shan in good terms with Yun Xuan now?

Although they were not exactly close siblings like other brothers and their sisters, at least they could breath in the same air peacefully.

Yun Xuan was cautious of her surroundings. Once she left the cab, she hurriedly entered the coffee shop where she was meeting Lin Lihua.

The woman had already arrived. She was on a phone call, which she hung up as soon as she saw Yun Xuan. She didn't look impatient. However, Yun Xuan felt she had committed a crime deserving of being fired. She had made her boss wait for her!

"I'm sorry I'm late." She apologized before taking a seat opposite Lin Lihua.

"Don't sweat it. I see you brought my little sweetheart along." Lin Lihua grinned, reaching over to tease Yun Feng.

The tiny boy looked up with his blue eyes, an unpleasant expression written all over his face.

"You will make me completely friendless." Yun Xuan laughed.

After some small talk, they ordered their drinks.

"You didn't just call me out to catch up on the past, right?"

Yun Xuan looked uneasy. Lin Lihua had only suggested meeting in a coffee shop so she could get away from her office for a while. She must have a lot of work to do. So Yun Xuan went straight to the point. "Boss, can I work online?"

Lin Lihua smiled brightly. So it's only this. "Why not? Since we are friends, I will help you handle the procedure. You can start as soon as you want."

"Thank you."

"There's no such thing as 'thank you' between friends."

Both women sighed.

Lin Lihua was the one to break the silence. "I will drop by the hospital later." It's been a while since I last paid Lin Ye a visit.

"I will drop by too."

She felt responsible for him.

It was not because she was guilty, it was simply because she had taken up this responsibility from the start. She couldn't just abandon him midway.

Actually, she could have done it for anyone.

Besides, she understood why Wan Jia and Lin Lihua couldn't stay with him for too long. They were both married women. Although Wan Jia was Lin Ye's employer and Lin Lihua was his god sister, their husbands might still be displeased if they spent too much time looking after an unmarried man.

She was unattached so it didn't matter for her.

So, the women set off for the hospital together. 

In the end, Yun Xuan had decided to bring her son along. It was only going to be this once and she wouldn't stay for too long. 

They were only a few meters from the hospital when Lin Lihua received a phone call. She looked worried when she hung up. 

"Is something wrong?" Yun Xuan asked cautiously. 

"It's my mother. Xuanxuan, I'll catch up with you some other time, okay? I have to rush home now." 

"Go ahead. Drive carefully, I'll hail a taxi up ahead." 

"I will." Lin Lihua pulled over at a spot where it was easier to find taxis and dropped her off. Then she speedily drove back to the Lin residence. 

Meanwhile, Yun Xuan found the doctor who took care of Lin Ye. 

"Doctor, how is Mr. Lin's health today?" 

The female doctor looked slightly tired. "The same as yesterday." 

"Oh..." for some reason, Yun Xuan was disappointed.

Actually, Lin Ye's condition couldn't get any worse. If there had to be a change, he could only get better and wake up. 

"About the hospitalisation fees, can you give me a few more days?" 

The hospitalisation fees was accumulating quite fast... too fast for her to handle. She didn't earn that much to begin with, not to mention she had a baby to take care of. The previous month, it had in fact been taken care of by Lin Lihua.

If the doctor gave her more days, she could take a loan and repay it later. 

The doctor didn't look displeased by her request. In fact, she was amused. "Didn't it get paid already?" 

"Paid?..." her heart gradually filled with warmth. "His family dropped by?" 

"A woman surnamed Lin deposited a sum of money. She must be his sister." 

Yun Xuan was slightly disappointed. That had to be Lin Lihua, yet again. 

How could his family not care about him? Were they even humans? 

Though at such a time, she should have wondered why she cared so much.

"I'll go to see Mr. Lin. Can I take him with me?" She asked, referring to Yun Feng who was currently darting his curious eyes around. 

The doctor finally realized there was a little one. She had been too tired to notice him. "You can, as long as you don't let him play around. I will give him a protective mask too." 

"Thank you." 

"Is this your son? He is too cute." 

Yun Xuan's heart was filled with pride. "Yeah. I will go in now." 

She entered the room slowly like a cat sneaking in. The child in her arms seemed to find the mask irritating and was trying to pull it off. She wouldn't stay for too long. 

"Baby, do you remember this uncle? He came to our house once." She said, although she was sure Yun Feng wouldn't say anything anyway.  

He only blabbered some sounds in response. 

"When he wakes up, we will invite him over to play with us, right? He is very kind. It's so unfortunate that bad things only happen to kind people.... you ... you will try to be more friendly... wait!" 

Yun Xuan took a long, careful look at the man on the bed. 

"Were my eyes playing tricks? I thought I saw his eyebrows twitch."
