Chapter 733 Bitten By A Snake

The dark faction were better suited to run the universe...

It was a notion that all light faction monarchs wanted to vehemently deny, yet somewhere deep down inside them they knew that the notion of 'might makes right' wasn't wrong at all.

Those who stood at the pinnacle of the light faction knew very well that they could get away with transgressions that a common man could never hope to get-away with.

The light faction society was supposed to be fair, but it was tilted in favour of the wealthy and the powerful with nepotism running deep within the faction.

The children of wealthy merchants were better suited to go-on and become wealthy merchants themselves despite their own competence/ incompetence whereas the poor had difficulty breaking past the middle-income threshold.

This wasn't the case in the dark faction, however, as there, anyone could become anything as long as their fists had the power to back up their ambitions.

It did not matter if one's father was competent or incompetent, as long as the child had the tenacity to rise through the ranks he/she would undeniably rise through to the upper echelons of society.

The social fabric of the dark was not built on the facade of good and the fear of punishment for breaking the laws. n0vEluSB.c0m

It was wild, primal and untamed hence fair and just for all.

Somewhere deep down all light faction monarchs knew this about the dark faction, yet it was their own greed of using the ' System ' as a means of staying in power, that the light functioned the way it did.

From the day a child was born into a light faction society, it was forced to love its race, its people, its monarch and not doing so led to the child being ostracised and socially pressured.

A common child was told to dream only as much as they could achieve and not let their ambitions become a subject of mockery and by doing so their desire to become the rulers and pillars of their faction was effectively killed.

The children of kings continued to become kings and the nobility rarely changed its structure and composition.

It was a flawed system that was bound to implode upon itself sooner or later and unfortunately for the universe it was this very style of life that was now going to reign supreme and unopposed.

" I say the queen's moral code needs to be changed seriously, all those in favour? " Micheal eventually said, breaking the silence in the room as all 11 monarchs raised their hand and a resolution was passed to restructure the queen's morale code to make it impossible for her to betray the faction in the future.

Clauses of judgement of greater good and independent action were removed from her code and upon Neatwits insistence a moral clause was added whereby the family or close allies of an individual could not be used by the queen for manipulation under any circumstances.

Further tweaks in her code forced her to accept that in future all references to the dark faction's style of life needed to be portrayed negatively and that she must always portray the light as the righteous and morally correct faction.

It was blatant history washing by the victorious party but now that they ran unopposed and without a moral compass, there was no one to call them out on their flaws.

Finally when the vote came to the topic of allowing Shakuni back into the universe, Neatwit had expected the vote to pass without a hitch, but to his absolute surprise 4 people opposed the decision of letting Shakuni walk back freely in the universe and they were

1)Regus Aurelius

2) Beast King Omar

3) Beniogre

4) Micheal

Regus was scum, he feared for his life and wanted to cling onto his power.

Neatwit could understand his reluctance over the matter but the others came as a shock.

Beniogre adopted a holier than thou stance over the matter and said that she did not wish for unnecessary bloodshed in the universe and that removing the possibility of future bloodshed was a good thing.

In that moment, Neatwit recalled all the memories of the goddess that he had in Omega and how Shakuni, Karna and himself had fought shoulder to shoulder to ensure that her church and the influence of her church would spread far and wide.

Although she adopted the stance of kindness and mercy, Neatwit knew for a fact that the most bloody and dangerous wars were often fought under HER name.

But while her vote was based on her beliefs, Omar's vote was based on paranoia.

The very thought of letting someone as powerful as Shakuni roam freely in the universe scared the man to his core and hence he voted against letting him back.

Unfortunately for Neatwit, the required threshold to pass the resolution was at 8 votes and he fell only a single vote short with Micheal unexpectedly betraying his trust.

The Angels were supposed to be allied with the Elites but Micheal ruled against letting Shakuni back and when Neatwit demanded an explanation, he decided to stay silent over the matter, not even bothering to explain his decision.

And so, the ban on Shakuni entering the universe continued and with this resolution failing the battle lines were clearly drawn.

Neatwit's demeanour turned to that of a rabid dog as he was determined to not let a single future resolution pass since the one to bring back Shakuni failed, and with the unwavering support of the Won Knights and the Hazelgroove Empire they had the numbers to flip the council sideways.

But the petty revenge aside, Neatwit's heart was broken to a thousand pieces as he felt deep within himself as if he had failed his friend once again.

He had not seen Rudra in over 3.5 years and he missed the man thoroughly.

He was sincerely hoping to bring him back to the guild and show him how he had held everything together in his absence, but now that dream was shattered.

Shattered because an angel behaved like a snake.
