Chapter 273: To Leave the Place

“I’ve told her to choose between staying here or to leave along with the child after all.”

“Why did you say such a thing?”

“In the first place, there’s is some reasoning behind why Rihannan and I had married. I had tricked her and forced her to come here.”

“Actually, I do remember the queen telling me such thing in the past. That your majesty’s target for marriage first wasn’t actually her but rather Princess Helena. Was this related with that?”

Igor nodded his head.

“Yes. If I had proposed to Rihannan in the first place, Rihannan would have ran away far and away from me as soon as possible.”

Madam Sessly stared at Igor with a blank look on her face. Noticing that her head must be working at full capacity trying to figure out what would be the reason why Rihannan would want to run away from Igor, he quietly spoke with a low voice.

“It’s definitely not because Rihannan had owed me money or anything. I cannot tell you about the reasoning, so please don’t ask about it any further.”

Madam Sessly snapped at Igor in anger.

“How dare you say such… Just who do you think I am toa*sume I think such things? I didn’t even have a single trace of that thought!”

Afterward, Madam Sessly racked her head heavily for a moment before she spoke again.

“In any case, if what you say is true, then this was all according to your majesty’s plan? Meaning, you had done this because if you asked for the queen’s hand in marriage in the first place directly, she may not have accepted your proposal?”

“… That is why.”

“And when you gave the queen a freedom to make a choice this time to leave or to stay, the queen chose to leave?”

“Yes.”

Igor nodded his head.

“Honestly, I did have some thoughts of trying to make sure Rihannan won’t be able to leave. Although it’s a cowardly act, I could take back my words or cause problems in Chrichton to make sure she can’t go back to it, and a myriad of different methods to make sure she can’t go. However, I knew that I shouldn’t do it. It was Rihannan’s decision, so I wanted to respect it.”

Madam Sessly blinked a couple of times as she thought. Although there were still many things that she didn’t know about the situation between them, there was still one thing that she realized. Between the two of them, there is something that they made a severe mistake of.

“Your majesty. In the first place, those kinds of methods aren’t the right thing to do. That’s no way to treat the love that’s leaving you. Threats and scheming? No way, no, no at all… There’s another way besides that, isn’t there?”

“Another way?”

“Have you confessed your feelings to the queen, your majesty?”

Igor’s purple eyes kept its gaze on Madam Sessly. Feeling annoyed that he didn’t realize it yet, Madam Sessly asked again.

“I’m asking whether you confessed your love for her before you gave her the choice whether to stay or not.”

“…”

“No way, did you actually not say anything at all?”

Igor couldn’t bring himself to say anything, with a confused expression on his face. Seeing as how he couldn’t say anything at all, Madam Sessly also lost all the words she could form in her mind.

“That’s…”

“My goodness, if you were going to insist on giving her such a decision, then you should havea*sured her first. That it’s fine for her to decide to live her entire life together with a man like you! Yet you went ahead and forced her to make a decision even beforea*suring her! Don’t you know her personality? She’s a very introverted person in the first place, to give such a decision to a person like she is basically like telling her to flat out leave!”

“But…”

“Or have you honestly never confessed your love to the queen properly even once this whole time?”

“…”

At this point, he became a complete mute. Even though he still had his lips, he couldn’t speak at all. Madam Sessly lamented deeply with genuine tears in her eyes.

My god, just what is she to do with this fool who’s absolutely oblivious about romance?!

“If you do not say it yourself, just how is the person supposed to know how you are feeling? Do your majesty understand all the feelings that the queen feels? What do your majesty think is the reason why the queen had decided to leave in the end?”

“…”

Madam Sessly put her hand on her forehead. It was hard to distinguish whether the headache she was feeling was due to the alcohol or due to the sheer incompetence that the king was showing in romance.

“Apologies for my rudeness your majesty, but if you were my son, I would have kicked you in the b*tt and told you to get out there and chase your wife down right away.”

Seeing as how Igor still kept his mouth shut even after that, Madam Sessly growled at him.

“… Just go to her for now. Say that you wish for her to stay by your side since you love her dearly. A different answer may come to you if you do so.”

“Do you really think so?”

“Of course! Thinking that the person will understand your thoughts completely and giving up because of that is not being considerate, it’s just dodging the problem and self-deprecating act. You’re afraid of having your pride hurt, ending up lying to yourself and making up a plausible excuse for it. Even if your love is rejected, make sure that you had confessed your honest feelings before being rejected. Then at least you won’t have any regret.”

Madam Sessly was very experienced in the workings of society in the past, and was once called the ‘queen of community’. After dealing with numerous people all throughout her life, she not only was experienced in romance, but you could basically say she nearly mastered the art of reading other people’s minds.

“It is too late to leave today, so you should leave tomorrow morning as early as…”

Before she could even finish speaking, Igor stood from his seat. He then walked out of the room without saying another word.

After being left alone in the room for a while, Madam Sessly then finally realized that he had left to depart and go after her. The whole palace would be up in arms asking where the king has gone tomorrow, but he disregarded all that and left immediately.

“My goodness…”

Madam Sessly let out a forced laughter, then noticed a boat-shaped sculpture left on the table. A wooden boat, with clear indications of being old and worn. It seemed that he was looking at this the whole time just before he had left.

“Hmm.”

Madam Sessly righted the boat which was fallen on its side to right side up. A smile formed on her lips. For some reason, she had a feeling that it will go well.
