Chapter 245: The Truth Comes Out

Her eyes began to well up on the edges. She couldn’t help but let out a sigh along with tears rolling down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe what a foolish decision she had made in the past.

“Because… I believed in such nonsense that I…”

“Rihannan.” He pulled Rihannan into his arms. While she rested her face in his chest, Igor stroked her hair. “That was not your fault, but all mine instead.”

“No, it was because I was just simply stupid. She didn’t even need to force me to drink the poison at all. I just drank it willingly, what a foolish person I must have looked like!”

Her words aimed to harm herself and degrade her. Igor couldn’t just stay there and watch her do that to herself.

“The reason why you were put in jail was my fault in the first place. My incompetence and foolishness was what led to your death.”

Each of his words were filled with pain and anguish for him. He quietly set down his face onto Rihanna’s shoulder. She quickly felt her shoulder become wet with tears. His voice, filled with regret and blame for himself started to ring out.

“I should have already told you everything before and begged for your forgiveness. I’m sorry. I was only able to do this now.”

Rinannan couldn’t figure out just how much problems he was sorry for since he didn’t explain everything he meant. She could onlya*sume that just like how Rihannan had made numerous misunderstandings and problems back in her previous life, he must have made numerous mistakes as well.

Therefore she couldn’t blame him anymore.

Rihannan stretched out her hand and quietly stroked his hair as he laid his head on her shoulder. Now, she realized that everything that had happened in her previous life wasn’t all true. That there was also truth much harder to swallow and accept behind those truths she never saw.

“…When we return to the palace, please tell me everything. Everything that had happened between us in the past,” Rihannan whispered in his ear.

Igor wrapped his hand around her waist. Letting out a deep sigh, he answered, “All right. I won’t hide anything and tell you everything as you asked.”

“My Queen!”

It was then when a loud voice came from outside. Soon after, Basil quickly came inside of the room. His expression was filled with anxiety and fear, but once he turned to see the two of them together, he smiled widely in happiness. He then started to wipe away the tears that kept flooding out of his eyes with his sleeve as he sobbed.

“I am so glad. I just kept having bad thoughts in my mind while I was on my way here, but it looks like I was worrying for no reason.”

At that moment, Igor realized it. That 6 years ago, the three of them were in a very similar place like this, yet now have met a completely different outcome in the end. But also the fact that if there was even just a small mistake, the tragedy that had happened in the past could have occured again.

When they all came out of the hut, the situation outside was completely over. Danil had already died from cutting his own neck with his sword. After Danil died, his subordinates also all suicided following him. It seemed that they already planned to take their own lives the moment anything went wrong.

Igor entrusted the disposal of the bodies to Basil, and the two headed to the palace first. While riding to the palace inside the carriage, neither of them said a single thing. However, Igor held onto Rihannan’s hand the whole trip until they arrived at the palace. As if he could only be relaxed if he had some physical connection between the two.
