Chapter 305 - The sad truth

Michael's eyes opened wide and looked very sharp as he rushed towards them, but Belle entered the car before he could stop her.

He has never felt like an idiot like he was feeling right now, because he knocked on the glass in a hurry, and immediately Gail started the car and was ready to move, he ran towards the front, intending to stop them from leaving, even if it meant risking his life.

He underestimated Gail, because he was ready to knock him down if possible, than staying and letting them talk things out about their relationship.

Gail started the car and moved a bit forward, Michael moved back a bit, yet still refused to move away, looking at Belle who didn't even look up to him.

Michael's eyes and Gail locked. He saw the hatred in them and that further confirmed his assumptions.

This guy wanted to steal his woman away and he wasn't going to let that happen.

He started the car again and Michael knew to move away, else this man would take the pleasure in killing him and take away his woman.

He moved aside and of course, the next action should be taking his own car and going after them, but he knew Belle wouldn't listen to him.

She's stubborn when she meant it.

He watched the car left and absentmindedly walked to his own. He punched the steering with annoyance, everything Belle said kept rushing in.

The hurt in her eyes.

The year dropped and how he couldn't help imagining the ones she must have shed before.

He unknowingly hurt her.

He messed up.

He had no idea where his own tears came from, but they dropped as he held both palms to the back of his head.

I'm so sorry, baby. He muttered to himself.

I will make it up to you, I promise.

…..

Belle was also looking out the window as the car drove off.

Her mind goes back to Michael.

Her tears dropped continuously and Gail didn't know the right consolation to give her.

He felt his heart broke for her and it started to occur to him that all he wanted was to see her happy.

Right now, even though she's crying for Michael, he knows he's the reason for those tears.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

The girl is a very good girl and he believes she deserves the best.

After the confrontation with Michael, his sister wasn't the same.

She took it personal and felt heartbreak over a love that didn't even happen.

She has recently called to ask him if they should just give up, because it seems Michael hates her now.

He wasn't harsh on her, but he treated her with so much caution and distance, that everyone realized something was wrong at their working place.

She realized that she would have preferred them laughing as friends than how he treats her now.

Worse for her was how he was just the same lively man as before.

This made some of their colleagues ask her if something happened between them. She had to deny to save face, because they are all aware that Michael already has a girlfriend.

They will just give him a bad tag.

She felt fed up immediately. She regrets her actions and has been feeling guilty, but Gail was confident that he could get Belle.

Now, he's doubting if that's possible.

It seems the long time of not seeing Michael didn't waver her feelings for him at all.

His eyes reddened and lips paused together.

Belle didn't reply to his question and only sobbed.

"Annabelle?" He called, feeling nervous as the urge to tell her the truth surged forth from nowhere.

But he still stood firm on the fact that Michael is not making her happy.

That's enough reason to keep fighting till he gets the girl.

"I love him." Belle said, covered her face with her palms and then removed it, before looking at him.

Gail slowed down the car and stopped at a safe spot beside the road.

Belle paused her lips for a second before speaking up again.

"When you scared him with your car earlier, I was more scared. I… I pushed him and my heart ache that I could have hurt him.

He means everything to me. I don't know why he did what he did, but I believe he loves me too." She wore a confused look at that part and Gail bit down on his lower lip.

"He's my beginning and I don't think I want anyone else to replace that spot.

I felt pathetic earlier.

I was so angry at him, yet a part of me wants him to just apologize and we put it behind and move on.

I love him." She said seriously.

Gail knew something was coming.

"Maybe you feel this way because you haven't given another man a chance in your life.

You will never know until you try, Belle." He said and Belle smiled softly.

"You don't understand. I didn't even want to try. I don't want to imagine me being with another man.

If not him, I don't want another." She said and Gail couldn't help it anymore.

"Why force it this much? Is he even making you happy? The first time I saw you, you were crying on the road." He said.

"You remember." She said and he nodded his head.

"I hired you because I wanted to put a smile on your face." He said.

"It did put a smile on my face. It cures the insecurity I felt over losing him. And yeah, he makes me happy.

With him, I felt like a queen and more." She said and Gail saw the sincere smile that played on her face, even though tears still dropped.

"Gail, I know how you feel about me. It would be a lie to say I do not and after what happened today, I felt like I did wrong by letting the man that has feelings for me dealing with my boyfriend.

It was wrong of me to you and to him.

No matter who is at fault.

I'm sorry and I also want you to know that, I can never return the feeling." She broke the sad truth to him.
