Chapter 107 - I lied

Any other woman would have been shocked by his sudden scream.

Perhaps felt like she said something she shouldn't say, but not this one.

"No, you shut up!" Clara screamed back at him.

As if they were mortal enemies, their eyes bored into each other as if they are waiting for the host of a fighting competition to give permission for them to start fighting.

Leo was about to lose it, but recalled that all this woman want was to provoke him from the start. He must admit to himself that she really tried this time around, because she poke the spot he hated the most.

He doesn't joke with his friends' life, not to mention Mick, who was like his whole world.

He had no idea Clara wouldn't mind riding the elevator with him, which was why he didn't bother inviting her, so that it wouldn't seem like a force.

"What do you want Clara?" he asked, only to hear her ask him back, "what did I want?"

"I treated you like a friend, just like I promised, but you still hated me for something I didn't chose." he said, only to see her rolled her eyes at him.

"Are you whining now?" she asked.

"Whining?" Leo look at her confused.

"Whining about being chosen as my other piece?" she scoffed, before continuing, "well, I never wanted all these as well." she added.

"Things doesn't have to get to this, if you aren't making everything so difficult Clara. Why can't you just try to understand me for once. I want to be close, be a friend, but you don't want it. You're pushing me away." he said, staring into her sharp emerald green eyes, that didn't even wavered at his words.

Clara chuckled. "Stop feeling important. I don't have to be your friend, so that you wouldn't treat me as an enemy. There's the world neutral between friend and foe. So just leave me alone. Don't give a shit about me, and there's no need for you to realize how much I don't like you." she said, making Leo's heart felt twisted.

Any other women would have realized his feelings at this rate, but Clara take it to another dimension. "neutral." he said with a scoff.

"Return home Clara. Sorry for the trouble. I will put your advice into use." he said and turned around, took off his jacket and hung it, before walking to his seat.

Seeing her still standing there, "what is it?" he asked with a neutral face, just she wanted.

"Your uncle." Clara said, knowing she still can't let him get hurt.

"Why do you care?" he asked with a neutral expression.

"If you die, then… "

"Leave." Leo cuts in.

"What if… "

"Please leave. Take the car, I will find my way home." he said and stood up, only to walk towards his room and shut the door.

Staring at the close door, Clara decided on staying anyway, since Leo said Jerry will make a move.

The door opened after a few minutes. Leo came out and saw her sitting in a comfortable position on the sofa.

Without a change in his expression or looking at her too longer, "what are you still doing here?" he asked calmly and placed the doc.u.ments he just retrieved from the room, on top his table, before taking his seat on his chair.

Clara who was browsing her phone look up at him. It's funny how the atmosphere has suddenly changed.

"To protect you." she said flatly.

"I don't need you to protect me woman. What do you take me for?" he asked.

He feel like he needed to sort his head. He need to think again and check if he's crazy to fall for her.

He felt like he understood her at some point, but her attitude is just too out of line. The type that makes people stay away from someone.

If he hadn't witnessed her being friendly with others, he might thought she has a problem, but it appears that he's this woman's problem.

Then why can't he just let her be?

He needed to sort his feelings and see if he should keep pursuing her or just give up.

He didn't want to blame her for not liking him. She isn't obliged to like him because he like her. Perhaps he can let go of these feelings and really let her be as she wanted.

"You asked for it yesterday." Clara replied.

"I lied. I can take care of my uncle." he replied calmly. "please leave. Forget I mentioned bodyguard yesterday." he said and turned his laptop towards him.

He was about to start working when he paused and called for Mike to return.

'I knew it! He lied about his uncle so that he could order me around.' Clara thought in her head and stood up.

Despite the argument, she has snapped the fishes on her phone during the minutes Leo spent in his room. She wondered what sort of flooring is this. It's really beautiful.

She began walking out of his office, while Leo who had telling himself about forgetting her a while ago, couldn't help staring at her till she left without even looking back.

Mike came in after, his eyes lingering at the back view of Clara that just walked past him.

"What are you doing staring at her?" Leo's annoyed tone made him focus immediately.

"I wasn't staring sir. I thought she's starting work, so I was wondering why she's leaving earlier." Mike quickly explained himself under Leo's piercing glare.

"She's not a bodyguard. Don't stare at her again." he said firmly and returned his gaze back on his laptop.

'Oh god! I hope this turns out well.' Mike prayed in his head, because Leo is acting like he does, during the time that he's dating Sharon.

Even though Clara isn't as gentle as Sharon, she seem like the rude type. He prayed this work out well, perhaps Leo could finally heal from the former betrayal.
