Chapter 97 - Identity Revealed (4)

When Captain Hu walked in, Xiong Jingfei was sitting on a chair as she welcomed him in. Even she doesn't know how she found the strength to get herself on it. But she was sure not going to welcome him by sitting on the ground.

Xiong Jingfei gesture Captain Hu to take a seat next to her, "What can I do for Captain Hu who came looking for me in the middle of the night?"

Please, do not let it be anything to cause me to walk!

Captain Hu refused to take the seat. He was here to make an earnest request, "I apologize for disturbing your rest, Miss. The rest of the medical team are either deep asleep or drunk. So I can only turn to you for help."

Captain Hu's tone and eyes were telling her it was something serious. He would never come to see her this late into the night if it wasn't.

Damn it! Xiong Jingfei cursed, she didn't want to ask what he needed help with. It sounds like it required walking! How can the entire medical team get drunk within the small amount of time she left them. Sigh, guess she has no choice but to go when it comes to a person's life...

"Show me the way," Xiong Jingfei slowly got up but almost made a tumble. If not for the armchair, she would have rolled onto her bed and said goodnight to Captain Hu. She wished that would have been the case!

Dragging her feet and blindly followed Captain Hu from the behind. She almost bumped into him when he came to a sudden stopped. Assuming they reached the tent that resided the injured patient. She raised her head to see where Captain Hu had taken her.

She instantly regretted not asking who the patient was. Can she still change her mind?

"General Feng, may we enter?" Captain Hu loudly announced his presence, and someone opened the tent's door for them. He turned back when he didn't hear another set of footsteps following him, "Miss, are you coming in?"

"Yes," Xiong Jingfei nodded her head but was screaming 'No!' in her head.

Behind his back, she made a crying face. Captain Hu! Your patient might end up killing me before I save him! Actually, he should be fine! He won't die anytime soon without killing me first.

Walking through those doors, Xiong Jingfei returned to her Eldest Miss demeanor. She took steps like a celestial being but remained standing behind Captain Hu. She was unwilling to stand beside or in front of him. It was much safer standing behind him, with his tall and board back hiding her.

"Captain Hu, there is no need to concern yourself with this small injury," Feng Huan emotionlessly stated, as if the deep wound on his right shoulders was only a scratch. "There is no need to bother the medic team. They are busy-"

Feng Huan frowned when he saw the person Captain Hu brought in to tend his injuries. A smiled curved, "What an honor it is to have Miss Xiong tend me?"

He was still a higher rank than her, so Xiong Jingfei gave him a courtesy bow. Then she replied, "It's my duty to help those who are injured, General Feng."

"There is no need to bother someone as esteemed as you." Feng Huan replied but received a death glare screaming at him to shut up! Let her bandage him so she can go back.

He wasn't going to let her off so easily after when she did to them. His eyes traveled down to her dress. It was dirty, bloody, and no longer like someone from a prominent family.

"Leave," Feng Huan ordered. Making everyone leave would make it a lot easier on Xiong Jingfei. She won't have to struggle between being the Eldest Miss and herself.

They left after taking off Feng Huan's heavy armor. However, he refused to strip anymore than that for her. He scowled, forgetting that his upper body needed to be fully unclothed for Xiong Jingfei to bandage him.

"It will taint Miss Xiong's reputation, why don't you go find someone else? I can wait." Feng Huan said this, but the intensity of the pain was really unbearable. The blood already bled through the lousy bandage the soldier did for him.

With no one else in the room with them, Xiong Jingfei rolled her eyes. She doesn't even care if Feng Huan was a he or she. She only wanted to quickly get this over with so she can go to sleep!

"Oh, you can wait?" Xiong Jingfei said, walking up to him and lightly smacked him on his right shoulder.

"Ah!" Feng Huan growled, "Have you gone mad?"

"I thought you said it was 'only' a small injury and you can 'wait'?"

Feng Huan glared at her, it was what he was best at anyway. When he couldn't compete with her verbally.

"General Feng seems like you are uninformed about us as doctors. We do not see gender in our patients." Xiong Jingfei swiftly pulled down his outer robe to his waist.

"What are you-" Feng Huan wanted to back away, but his shoulder injury was being a disadvantage to any slight movements.

Then she said in a quieter voice, "Feng Huan, it's best if you don't get agitated. It will only open your wound bigger, and I will have to force myself to have someone hold you down."

Feng Huan's body stiffened with his heart fluttering softly then pounding loudly. Every time his body stiffen, his heart decided to play its own music too. A small shock ran throughout his body as her fingers brushed against his shoulders.

He watched her as she diligently worked to stop the bleeding. She didn't flinch or was shocked upon seeing his wound. He narrowed his eyes, she must have seen a lot. Probably seen worse than his injuries within the time they've been apart.

Now that she was a few inches away from him. The dark circles under her eyes became noticeable. Even her white veil was not an exception to avoid getting ruined. He wanted to reach out and pat her head that she did a good job. However, he didn't. Seeing her white veil was a reminder of who she is.

After stitching Feng Huan's wound, she was glad the cut wasn't as deep as it looked. However, he will be forbidden to use his right arm until his right shoulder heal. She will have to instruct one of his soldiers to watch over him. He cannot carry anything heavy or be allowed to touch his sword until then.

When she finished the last lap of bandaging his shoulder. She finally broke the silence between them, "I apologize for deceiving you."

"Shouldn't I deserve to know the reason?" Feng Huan asked seriously.

"Well, I guess it's because I am your ex-lover number one enemy... I think I am number one." Xiong Jingfei said, counting how much enemies Zhao Fan made in the past. Right at this moment, she is probably making more with her new husband's concubines.

"You knew? Ah-!" Feng Huan spun around and loudly winced out in pain.

"Ah! Be careful, you don't want to reopen it." Xiong Jingfei warned, checking to make sure it didn't get worse. Behind his back, she muttered, "Yes, I knew the whole time. It wasn't hard after seeing you cry during Zhao Fan's wedding."

"I did not cry." Feng Huan's dangerous icicle voice was resurfacing. It was one of his most embarrassing moments in life, and someone just had to witness it.

"Okay, okay, you did not cry." Xiong Jingfei's eyes were filled with worries. Scared the wound would open back up, and she will end up spending more time to stitch him back up.

She sighed, rebandaging him again. What she said was not the complete reason why she didn't disclose her identity. There was no need to further explain because she knew he knew. It was the moment she unmasked herself inside her father's tent.

"I understand," Feng Huan said after a while in response to her explanation. Then a soft thump was heard coming from right behind him. He forced his body to turn around.

Feng Huan couldn't help but chuckle at what he saw. Xiong Jingfei fell asleep, and her head hit his pillow perfectly. In her hands, she still had the bandages. He moved the hair covering Xiong Jingfei's face. She was exhausted but came for him.

He watched her sleeping face and listened to her soft breathing. He had seen her real face three times, but this would be the first time for her sleeping face. The Xiong Jingfei he met was truly nothing like the rumors.

His heart began thumping against his chest as if he was about to commit a crime. But all he was going to do was remove the fallen eyelash on her face.

"Hmm? I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Another voice not invited in by Feng Huan entered. Of course, this stopped Feng Huan's hand from touching her sleeping face. Pained showed on his face as he turned to face that person, "Who are you?"

That person walked closer to them, and he smiled when Feng Huan became more hostile. That person answered Feng Huan's question honestly, "I am..."

Feng Huan's guard didn't cease, but the hostility was no longer there. This person was not lying to him because he heard the others called him "leader." He must be the leader of the medical team.

"I came here to bring her back," That person went around Feng Huan and carried Xiong Jingfei in his arms. He chuckled, "At least the two of you weren't arguing this time."

"What do you mean?" Feng Huan asked, wanting to get up and chased after that man. When did he hear them argue? The last time he spoke with her was after greeting Commander Xiong and his father.

That person didn't answer Feng Huan's question. Instead, he gave him a warning, "I am warning you to stay away from Feifei. What you are feeling will only bring trouble for you and her."
