Chapter 96 - Identity Revealed (3)

Xiong Jingfei was planning to avoid Feng Huan after that incident. However, there was no need because both of them became busy people. It was as if the enemy knew Xiong Jingfei arrived and was about to get a great night's sleep. The other side decided to launch a surprise attack in the middle of the night.

Creating a panic at first among the medical team, but it eventually became normal after a week into it.

"Here," Xu Song carried a bucket of water to Xiong Jingfei. She patted away the sweats forming on Xiong Jingfei's forehead.

Xiong Jingfei was occupied tending to the wound and sick. It was one after another, and there seemed to be no end to it. Even with the Yin clan disciples here to assist, it was not enough to help reduce the work. All of them were exhausted, and Xiong Jingfei wasn't an exception from being overworked.

Suddenly, loud cheers roared throughout the base camp.

"They retreated!"

"We won this round!"

The soldiers cheered and screamed that the enemy retreated. Some of the injured soldiers had tears at the corner of their eyes. They knew it wasn't the end yet, but at least their sweat and blood had a tiny meaning. The stored wine was brought out to celebrate their small victory.

Everyone was beginning to celebrate except for the medic team. They did not cheer when they heard the enemy retreat. Instead, they breathed out a sigh of relief. One less person injured and dying on them. They also did not rest and celebrate until the last announced injured soldier was cared for.

When that last soldier was tended, all of them collapsed and finally took the victory they deserved. All of them sat on the ground tiredly except for Xiong Jingfei.

"Xu Song, let's head back." Xiong Jingfei said, holding back the exhaustion in her voice. She couldn't slump onto the ground like them. She was still a lady and representing Xiong Guozhi when he wasn't there.

"Yes, Miss."

Xu Song could tell how tired Xiong Jingfei was and wanted to give her a helping hand. But, she couldn't for her Miss's effort will be all in vain.

Xiong Jingfei held her head high and her back straight as she exited.

Xu Song followed but was a step behind her. It doesn't matter how much she is favored. At the end of the day, she was still a servant. In other people's watchful eyes, she cannot walk side by side with her master.

"Did you see that?" One of the Yin's disciples whispered. "She is still standing after what happened for the past days."

"That's Commander Xiong's daughter for you."

"What a monster!"

One of them couldn't help but put in his own input, "She has fangs too!"

As tired as they were, one of them still had the strength to slap the "fang" person's mouth. He then whispered, "Quiet! Don't you know she is..."

A cold chill crawled up all their shoulders. Even though there shouldn't be any sort of wind coming or going. When they built the medical tent, they made sure it was secure for the harsh winter.

All of them began sweating more than they did the past few days. None of them dared turn to take a look at the only other person standing. The real monster who did not drop as they did. If they're claiming that Xiong Jingfei was a monster, then the person standing must be a whole different level kind of monster!

"L-leader... About what these i-idiots said about Miss Xiong- Ahhh! Spare me!" He screamed when that person only gazed down at him.

Then that person they were all so afraid of said in a kind voice, "Shouldn't all of you get some rest and something to eat? Do you think we can relax because of a little victory?"

One of the talkers about Xiong Jingfei immediately nodded his head, "Y-y-yes! What are all of you doing here talking about the Miss!"

"You were one too!"

"Yeah!"

"Stupid! Do not remind him!" Someone within the crowd hissed.

They were huddled up in one corner like chicken. No one wanted to make the first move to escape the situation they created for themselves. Even the injured soldiers lying in the medical tent felt the fear those medic helpers were feeling. They all agreed on this inside, this is the person they chose to scare off those enemies.

The closest one to the exit was about to crawl out. Seeing that one was making a move, all of them in unison hurriedly crawled too. Even medic helpers who were not from the Yin clan followed what the Yin's disciples were doing.

But that person's authoritative voice stopped them, "Wait."

The other medic helpers and Yin's disciples froze and immediately crawled back inside. They sat in a position as if they already confessed their crime and were ready for the punishment.

"Are you admiring the bloody and run over grass?" That person smiled when they nodded their head, agreeing with him. "I sure hope you remember what I said. Unless you want to end up being a patient here too."

"Yes, leader! You are always right!"

The Yin's disciple answered in unison while the other medic helper nodded. They didn't even know what the Yin's disciples were agreeing on.

A medic newcomer that was not part of the Yin clan spoke up, "Leader, would you like to join us?"

Someone smacked that back of that newcomer's head, he turned around and bellowed, "W-who hit me?"

A Yin's disciple pulled his ears and hissed, "Leader will eat when he wants to eat!"

Their monster leader chuckled and gestured them to leave. This time around, they all stood up and were pushing each other to be in the front. They didn't want their back to be facing that monster. He might just pick you to be butchered.

Once outside, the newcomer demanded the person who smacked him to come out.

"It was me," that smacker person was standing right next to him. "You should be thanking me for saving your life! You are lucky that it ended with a smack only."

"Yeah! I was saving your life earlier too. You should be glad!" The person who pulled the newcomer's ear chimed in. "And you! Why did you have to mention the Miss again!"

The tiredness from earlier vanished as they began arguing. About who was in the wrong, and who was it that kept digging all their graves. The graves also included those not from the Yin clan too. Then their argument returned back to the newcomer who was begging the medic head leader to end his life.

"He can't be that scary, right?" The newcomer cowered as they all ganged up on him. Giving him unending life lessons to never do it ever again. He should only do it when he is prepared to die!

"Do you think he got to where he is without being 'scary'?"

"No..." whimpered the newcomer.

****

While walking back to her tent, Xiong Jingfei probably pinched her thigh more than ten times. It was the only way to keep herself awake and motivate her to not collapse yet.

"Was it originally this far?" Xiong Jingfei muttered, cursing her tent to be so far from the medic tents.

It actually wasn't. She was just walking at a slower pace than "usual." Even though she is already so slow with her elegant walk. Yes, there is a way she has to walk compared to how people normally walk.

She really wanted to dash and fall on top of her bed, but she didn't even have the energy to walk. This time, she wasn't even fake slow walking!

Do not fall yet... I am almost there! Xiong Jingfei repeatedly told herself this while lifting heavy ironed legs. Ahhh! Kill me already! Was it really this far away from the medical tent? Oh my, I never noticed how nice this patch of grass looks. A nice grassy bed?

"No, keep on moving." Xiong Jingfei muttered and cried.

When she finally made it inside her tent, she pulled off her veil and laid on the ground. She couldn't even make it to her bed anymore.

"Fresh air!" Xiong Jingfei screamed in a quiet voice. The awful strong stench of blood and the cries of those dying were gone.

Bring her hands close to her face, they were still stained with blood. Never had she seen so much blood and people dying at once. The casualty wasn't high, but it's expected to increase.

As she laid on the ground for her body was too heavy to get up. She began to drift off to sleep until someone was shaking her to wake up.

"Miss, you can't sleep on the ground." Xu Song pulled her into a sitting position and began to strip her. "You also cannot sleep in clothes with blood on it. I brought you water too."

"Miss, are you still awake?"

Xiong Jingfei's drowsy eyes light up with sharpness. Xu Song's hands began working like magic as she redresses Xiong Jingfei in the bloody dress.

"I am still awake," Xiong Jingfei said in a soft tone, showing no sign of fatigue. I am forced to be awakened by you! "Come in."
