Chapter 153 - Welcome Back, Mr. Raymond.

-This is a backstory from when Raymond was awake.-

The second week of March 2014,

The beeping sound makes him twitching his eyelids a few times before he scrunches his eyebrows and slowly opened his eyes. It was too bright. Too bright that he couldn't even lift one of his eyelids at all. His uncomfortable groans have alerted someone who sits near him and he could hear a commotion sound a few seconds later suddenly approaching him.

"Mr. Raymond? Mr. Raymond, can you hear me?" One guy touches his arm gently before he moves his arm. Still scrunching and groaning. A ringing sound suddenly deafening him and he immediately touches his head which is feels weird. All he could touch is bandaging material wrapped around his head. And its hurt too, each time his hand touches his head, he feels like someone just punched him on the head.

"He's awake now. When the med is wearing off from his system, he may encounter with the pain. Please step outside first until we have done to check on his condition." The doctor who in charge of Raymond's surgery said to the girl and middle-aged women before they step outside of his VIP room.

"Mr. Raymond? If you can hear me, please lift your hand slowly. Don't shake or move your head yet. Your head needs to be still for now." The doctor gives him instructions to which he follows obediently. He lifts his hand. And slowly when his cornea can adjust the light inside the room, he carefully opens his eyes.

"Welcome back, Mr. Raymond. I'm your doctor. Right now, you're in a hospital from having major surgery in your brain and a small incision on your thigh."

Raymond wants to look down but was stopped by the doctor. "Na-uh-uh! Don't move your head yet. Don't worry about your scars. We'll make sure there's no scar left in your skin after this." The doctor tries to convince him and make him look at his face.

"Okay, so now I gonna ask you a few questions, can you answer it? Give me a thumbs up if you can." and Raymond gives him a go.

"Alright, so my question is, do you remember your name? What is your last memory before you wake up? Do you remember the year? What occasion that happens before you wake up today?"

Raymond frowned and causing him a bit pain on his forehead. Maybe because of the skin around his head feel so tight right now. "Uh, Raymond. 2010, and I am supposed to send my girlfriend to the airport now. She's going to go to the graduation ceremony."

Every doctor in the room looked at each other before the one who asked him a question pressed his lips together and asked another question. "Do you happen to remember all your family's name, Mr. Raymond? If you do, can you say their name one by one?"

Raymond complies with the doctor's question and says each of his family names until the last name, he was stuttering a bit. "Uh…Li- um, no...Lu? What is her name again?" He mumbles and the doctor feels a bit strange. As far as he knows, he already tells them all of his family names.

The doctor then suddenly remembers that James has another son named Liam. So he thought it might be Liam. "Is it Liam?"

Raymond turned silent and think for a moment. "Yeah, Liam. Why I thought he was a girl though?" and he hisses when he try to scrunch his eyebrow again.

"Alright, I guess that's it for now. If your brain condition progressing well, you can return home in no time. My subordinate will explain to you what happens to you and what year we live in now, so, don't panic okay? Everything is under control now. And don't stress out your brain." The doctor who he believes is the chief surgeon then walk out of the room and leave him with a group of the young doctor who already with their tab on their hands.

After almost forty-five minutes briefing to him of what happen to him (Which is all the cover-up story his family pay them to tell him) until what medication he needs to regularly take and continue to follow-up check-up, they leave the VIP room and the two woman who patiently wait for him at the outside of the room rush in afterward with their tears on their face.

"Oh, Raymond! I'm so happy to see you again." Barbara went to him and carefully hug him and the same goes with Sarah. She lightly kissed him on the lips which he's a bit surprised. And Sarah too looks a bit surprised to see his expression.

"What's a wrong babe?" She asked.

Shakes his head, Raymond awkwardly smiles at her. "Nothing. I just feel weird. That's it. Suddenly I wake up and now already 2014? Wow…I've been asleep for too long huh?"

Sarah chuckles and caresses his hand to which again, he felt weird. He feels like there's a distance between them and he should remain that way. He feels reluctant to every touch from her. 'This is totally weird. Am I forgetting something?'

"It's okay honey. There's nothing much that you should worry about. Now, all you have to focus on is..recovery. I can't wait to see you healthy again." Barbara said happily. Now, one of the problems has been taken care of and just wait until the right time for her to get rid of someone from Wayne clan.

"Uh, mother..did I forget something? I think I had something important that I need to go now. But I couldn't remember."

Both of them look at each other before Sarah suddenly said. "Babe..you think that you forget but actually, the thing is..you should send me today, remember? I told you it was important and that's why you feel like you forgot something. Thank you, babe, for thinking it was important.." She then leans her head on his chest softly. "I was lucky to have you."

Raymond moves both of his hands before slowly draped on her shoulder. "Yeah..maybe that's what it is." and his heart feels like something just hit him and the guilty feeling arouse which he doesn't know why.

May 2014,

Raymond went to Barbara's office to find a financial record on her desk, but his mother was not there. Ever since his father takes over the company for temporary, James brought back Barbara to her last post and fired the one who Victoria replacing last time.

The Wayne tower is now totally under Mr. James's control and no one dares to offend him. Even among other families, they have to keep silent if they want to stay at their place right now. Especially Henry and Harry. Because their mother's position is now in danger, they have to keep their mouth shut and follow James's order.

They feel sorry for Raymond and Luna but nothing can they do unless waiting for Victoria to return from the 'bunker' which most of them don't know where. It was a secret project and under the control of the government. A civilian shouldn't know where the project is held.

When he rummaging the file on the desk, his eyes suddenly caught his name on a certain paper, and he took it out from the stack of paper above it.

"A contract?" He mumbles and opens the next page and see the unfamiliar name. "Luna Robert?" a sudden pang in his heart make him almost lose his grip on the paper which he then immediately take back the contract that almost falls.

Read all of that agreement between him, that girl and his grandmother.

A minute later, Barbara walks inside the office and startled to see Raymond was standing behind her desk while looking at the contract she secretly took from Victoria's room.

"Raymond?"

Raymond turns around to her and lifts the paper on his hand. "What's this?"
