"What the heck is in there?" Tian growled. the kids all ran away with their tails tucked in.
enraged Tian was ready to chase them down but Yue held onto her.
"Calm down. Let's first check what is in there."
The deep stench of rotting flesh invaded his nose.
With a huge sigh, Tian lit up her hands on fire again. They were able to get a good look inside.
The zombies that were all chained up looked like they were asleep. They were not moving much, only some zombies twitched now and then. Their bodied were half rotten, and they were just bones, looked terrifying to look at.
Yue held his sister's hand and copied his powers in case this would escalate.
The passageway holding the zombies was wide enough for a person to walk in.
Tian took the lead and Yue followed after her, keeping a cautious eye on either side. Even if one of them moved a muscle he was ready to burn them down.
seeing the various rotting zombie's bodies, he suddenly felt a sense of dread. most of the zombies toed together and were all at least as powerful as himself and Tian. he could feel it even when they were just asleep. that power escaping from their body.
'what kind of experiment did they conduct here? fucking god.. these tubs…' he glanced at the tubes connected to the zombie's heads which lead directly to the isolated cell the very end of the corridor. hundreds of these tubes were fed into a small feeding hole blocking the hole completely.
The bee on his cheeks buzzed softly bringing him back from his distracted state.
Yue silently picked it up and placed it inside his coat. Right now, he did not wish for his son to see any of this gruesome scene and there was also the fact quite fearful of what kind of danger laid ahead in that room.
If this zombie had mysterious powers, his son might get hurt since Chen had a spiritual connection with all animals he talked to. It could mortally hurt him.
with each step close to that cell their bodies got pulled down to the ground.
Yue felt physical strain with each step he took close to the door. His bones creaked his muscles strained.
If he was a normal human without any powers like Qian he would have died long ago. This kind of stain is not something a human can handle.
Tian suddenly pulled him back and took the lead. Even his sister was gritting her teeth as she took the lead.
Slowly but surely, they reached the door. The ominous door was locked up with multiple chains on either side. The tubes that were connected to the zombie's brain were all rushing in through the small food compartment hold at the bottom.
Tian glanced back. "Be ready for anything."
Yue silently took out his sword and was ready to have a battle.
Tian placed a hand on the huge chain and they all started to heat up burning red. Slowly the metal melted away and dripped onto the floor.
The heavy chains fell down creating a loud clanking sound.
A small roar was heard inside.
Tian and Yue went still. Not on purpose but because their bodies were unable to move. That small road was able to trap them in place.
Yue could not even blink. His eyes started to tear up and a sole tear dripped down his cheek as he watched the unlocked door in terror. 'What kind of monster lives in there… we unlocked it… fuck...'
Tian groaned loudly, mobbing her tight fist. "Yue… leave… we must not open this… this is too dangerous..." she said in a strained voice. "I'll fuse the door… get back.."
with difficulty, she raised a hand and placed it on the door hinges. the metal slowly metals and fused together with the door. "Yue.. move…"
But Yue was completely incapacitated. He was not able to take a step back.
He just stood like a statue, eyes unblinking, watching the door.
A small scuffing sound was heard followed by the dragging sound of chains. a small index finger appeared out of the feeding hole pushing the numerous tubes out of the way. A dark pair of golden red eyes peered at them through the opening.
Yue felt his heart rate spike. He did not know how to explain this but his whole existence felt little to this creature. In front of this power, he was just a speck of dust.
He did not matter.
Nothing matters
Yue felt his breath halt.
He could not breathe.
"Yue…" Tian's strained voice came as a whisper close to his ear.
But Yue couldn't do anything. tears dripped down his cheeks uncontrollably as his lunge cried for fresh air. He desperately tried to breathe.
'Move! Move to darn it! I can't die like this! move your body! Step back!!' he bit his lips hard enough to bleed
But nothing worked.
He was… dying..
His eyes stared to dull out. Black spots swarm around in front of his sight. Even his sister's dazzling black hair looked like a black vortex to him.
A sharp pain on his shoulders suddenly brought him back to his senses.
Adrenalin spiked up. he simply took a few steps back pulling Tian along with him.
The red eyes followed him devotedly. "Come…" a hoarse voice whispered. "Hungry…"
Yue's breath which had almost halted came back hurriedly. He dragged Tian back and away from that terrifying being,
Tian's whole body was sweaty. Her glossy hair stuck to her face as she peered at him panting. "What the fuck is that?"
They both looked at the terrifying creature. After putting a bit of distance, they didn't feel that overwhelming suppression anymore.
Those pair of deadly red eyes still peered their way. A heavy sound of the chains came from in there.
"Hungry…." The creature shouted banging against the iron door.
Yue glanced back. the kid who had been watching the scene had all run off. "Fuck they must know something." She ran out of there to the common area.
The kids all looked at them in horror.
Yue stood hovering over their small figures. "What is that thing!?" he was beyond enraged! just then that creature almost killed them both. if not for Chen who bit his shoulders, they both would have become corpses right there in that isolation cells.
this made him panic extremely.
"Tell me!!"
the kids all shrank away and clung to the walls. They looked at him like he was a three-headed terrifying beast.
"If someone doesn't answer me I'm going to lose my patience!! Why do you have such a dangerous thing in your base? what did that researcher do with it? what are those zombies… is that what is keeping your base safe? That creature. Do you know what would happen if that got out?"
"She is a good girl." One kid shouted loudly.
Yue raised a brow "she? You're calling it a she now? IT is not human!!"
"Don't call her that! she doesn't like it!" the kid pouted with tears in his eyes.
Yue panted holding his aching head. that moment he stayed in there he felt a great strain to his veins and his blood vessels. If he had stayed in there for long, he might have had a few aneurysms in his heart and brain by now.
"IT is a monster! It almost killed us!"
"She doesn't know you! That's why." The boy stomped through the crowds and stood before him with his hands on his hips. "you're a mean person! Lily is a sweet girl! She would not hurt anyone!"
Before Yue could refuse, Tian held his arms gesturing for him to calm down. "Lily? It's a human girl, is it?"
The boy nervously nodded. "Promise you won't hurt her…. She really is a very good person. She even gave me her favorite honey drop." The boy took out a sticky half-eaten yellow candy from his pockets.
"Has Lily ever come out of there? What does she eat naturally?"
the boy shuffled his foot.
"She is hungry, you know…"
"She eats brains… only the bad men's brains. Uncle Shao brings back a few just for her. She likes it very much. She is such a sweet sweet person."
Tian glanced at Yue silently. "Your cousin might have a lot more secrets than we had thought."
