Chapter 326 - I will drive

Sky knew David loved her dearly and always wished her to stay away from problems. Even if he did help her in all the things she worked on, she didn't want to blame him rather she started to blame herself for being incompetent.

--

David stood rooted until Sky's car vanished from his sight. He had helped her only in the beginning for two months. Later only press conferences and media exposure periods he attended so that her identity could be secret. He never helped her in any projects or any other things.

He had faith, confidence in her and her working style. So he never poked his nose unless it was about her safety. He thought about what Sky said. Even though she sounded emotionless and looked aloof, he knew she was hurt.

When he tried to talk to her during dinner, she was just humming to him in response. He thought she must be tired or tensed about the anniversary. Hence, when he saw her going out, he followed her to have a talk.

'How many times have I taken credit for what you have done?'

'Was I just a puppet that being played around all the time?'

'You don't have to play behind the scene anymore.'

It carried a lot of weight since it was said by Sky. David understood what she meant. He thought to give her some time and explain that he didn't help her. He was contemplating what to do when Ethan interrupted his train of thoughts.

"Uncle David, Where is Sky? I couldn't find her in the hall." Ethan asked earnestly with a hint of worry.

"She left!" David's reply was emotionless and went inside the hall.

Ethan thought she was angry at him so she left. Hence he called her thrice back to back but she didn't receive it. He saw David leaving and turned towards the hall to notice James coming out.

"Dad! Sky left and even Uncle David left now." Ethan told to James.

"Mmm, Sky is in a bad mood. David went to talk to her. Are you coming with me?" James asked as he entered his car.

"No Dad, I'm going to meet Sky. Bye." Ethan said and ran towards his car instead of asking the valet to get his car.

David and Ethan rushed to the Harley mansion.

--

Sky was driving fast and ignored all the calls. She was on the way home but when she noticed town A direction board, she took a deviation.

Since she entered the highway, the vehicles were very less as it was late. Her speed increased more which alarmed both Clark and Sam.

Sam called her twice but she didn't answer. He had no option hence seeing her speed off, he used his tab to connect to her car. "Sky! Stop the car."

Sky heard Sam's voice and regretted using the Aston Martin. She pulled the car right and stopped.

She wounded the window down and looked at Sam passively. "I will drive." Sam said as he opened the door.

Sky nodded and got down. She took the shotgun seat and remained silent. "Why do you want to go now? It's very late."

"You guys can go home. I will drive and go." Sky replied right away.

Sam furrowed his brows and drove. He knew her mood wasn't good hence he remained silent. Sky looked front and didn't move even an inch.

Sam occasionally glanced at her. When he noticed Sky moving her head towards the right, he saw the Carlton lake but he couldn't understand anything.

Since Sky drove too fast, they had covered the two-hour distance in an hour fifteen minutes.

-

David reached the Harley mansion and noticed her car wasn't there. He went inside and paced around for some time. Even Ethan reached and waited in the living hall for Sky.

David called Sam losing patience. The latter answered after getting down from the car. Before Sam could speak, he heard the anxious voice of David.

"Sam, Where is Sky? How is she?"

"Chairman Harley! We are on the highway towards town A. She is fine but looks very upset." Sam replied calmly.

David didn't expect her to go to the Barton house. "Okay. Take care of her." David hung up after saying. Sam sat back and drove.

After hanging up the call, David called Jai and informed him about everything. Ethan who heard his conversation understood the situation. Even though Sky wasn't egoistic, she was a prideful woman. So he could understand why she left.

"Uncle David! Shall I meet her and explain?" Ethan asked sincerely.

David shook his head, "She will not listen to you. Only Jai can convince her. Or she will take time and understands herself."

David went to his study room after sending Ethan. He instructed his men to investigate the matter. Even though he made a guess.

--

Around twelve, Sky reached the Barton mansion. When she was about to knock, the door flung open. She looked at Jai who was in his nightwear with a light smile.

"Little sister!" His voice was as pleasant as ever.

She entered and hugged him without saying anything. Jai gently patted on her back. In less than a minute, his shirt started to get wet by her tears. Jai had expected her to react that way.

Even though she didn't let out any sound, Sam understood by her light shoulder movements. Jai pointed at the guest rooms for Sam and Clark. Jai took Sky to her room after she was calmed down a little.

Jai took out her nightdress and sent her to the bathroom to get fresh. Sky obediently went in and got fresh. He tucked her in the bed, "Sleep! We will talk tomorrow."

Sky hummed and closed her eyes. Jai sat next to her until her breathing became steady and even.

--

Morning Sky woke up early as usual. After putting on a tracksuit, she checked Jai's room. His room and gym were empty. She went out for a jog wearing her headphones.

When the nosy neighbors tried to strike a conversation on the way, she left without caring to reply. After about four miles, she stopped to rest.

She thought for a while and called David. Right after the first ring, the latter picked up. "Sky!"

Sky bit her lip and remained silent for a few seconds. "Dad!"

"Why did you wake up so early? Since you are there, rest properly." David's voice was very gentle without a hint of anger or annoyance.

"Dad! I didn't want to run away from there. I felt like coming here, so I came off." Sky's voice was mild.

"Lass! I know that. It's not a problem." David knew about her well.
