Chapter 274 - § EASY TO GET §

CHAPTER 020

Lyndon's family lineage was inclined to the town's history. They have been the ones who were governing the authority and discipline for the people. Since their ancestors were believed to be the ones who established the town, their heritage was kept on passing the duty of supervising it. It was the predicament that Lyndon would become the next mayor, once his father decided to resign.

As the town mayor's only son, he had lived his life where he could have what he wanted and easily get what he needed. He was living similar to a prince; rich, young, powerful, popular, and handsome. An aloof prince where he filtered and chose wisely those people he'd been associating with.

Unfortunately, the only two people he permitted to be part of his life did not only hurt him by breaking his heart. Tiana and Kraig also caused him to be unable to trust anybody anymore. All he ever did was give them unconditional love with devotion and all they did was take and shun him in return.

The darkness outside enveloped the town, the streetlamp on each street was the only source of light that illuminated the road. Townspeople were already inside their houses because of the curfew at eight o'clock.

Yanarym was walking on the sidewalk on the way to Lyndon's house. She finished talking with Kraig and agreed that they should start a relationship. While they were at it, she had laid all of the threats to her in their relationship including Tiana. Kraig promised that he would not let anyone cause her harm. After some thought, Yanarym couldn't believe how a jerk Kraig could be. It was clear as the sunshine that he was having a mutual understanding with Tiana but the next morning he asked another girl, which was 'her' to become his girlfriend.

Although she must admit that she was the 'slut' who seduced the man by sleeping with him. Stealing him away from the woman he was having a relationship with without any label… but… what?! Did the male lead suppose to choose the villain over the female lead just because they had sex? In the first place, the male lead should not have been swept by her scheme. He must be that type of male who was faithful to his female lead! But he was not, because Kraig was designed as a bastard.

Guide-sama: "You're supposed to be happy, everything's going along with your plan. You had it easy."

"It's too easy," Yanarym felt annoyed that it happened so quickly. It only proved that Kraig was not a person she should rely on in this world. His affection was too dangerous to get dependent on. She had to completely tame him before proceeding on anything.

That man didn't even care for her welfare before they had sex! He was merely lusting her! That animal.

She stopped walking and looked at the big marble house. This was Lyndon's, not his parents' but his house alone. The richest kid in the town. Now that she already had Kraig under her clutch, she must proceed to her second target, the piece of rotten garbage. Tsk.

Guide-sama: "Why do you even bother to associate with them? If you hate it so much you can just run away."

"This is not about me, this is about the original. I want to return the pain they brought her. I told you, I will compensate for her." Yanarym mumbled, "Also, I can't run away until graduation. If the original wanted to be recognized as a great potion-maker. She had to have that certificate from the academy."

Guide-sama: "There are other ways to be recognized as a great potion maker."

"I don't like taking the hard way, you know I prefer smooth sails."

Guide-sama: "You're annoyed because it is too easy and also don't want it to become hard."

"Yes, I want it mild, can't I have a preference?"

Guide-sama: "You're being complicated, it's hard for me to master your preferences even if I already stayed with you for more than decades."

"I'm just being human, don't mind me."

Guide-sama: "So complicated. I think even a century would pass—I still could never understand you."

"Don't be pessimistic, try becoming a human, Guide-sama. I'm not that complex. I'm pretty easy to get. Anyways, I have to work."

She fixed her expression and knocked on the door. It took a minute before it opened on its own. She entered the house and looked around, the original had never been here, so there was no memory of this house in Yanarym's mind.

The richest kid's house in the magical world, surely, there would be a lot more interesting things here to see than the owner itself. She began to roam from side to side like a child lost in a toy store where she played with his collection.

Lyndon was on the second floor watching her jumping from one thing to another and messing with anything that goes in her hand. Playing from left to right, with an idiotic smile plastered on her face.

She would clap her hands and exclaim in excitement whenever she would be able to activate his collections. Those were not supposed to be played with or handled carelessly. They cost him a fortune but oddly, he didn't mind seeing them being wretched by this woman. Maybe he found it funny that a tool was playing with her kind.

"Aren't you hungry?" He decided to interrupt her after an hour of just standing upstairs. He wondered how the time went so fast.

Yanarym almost dropped the crystal wand she was swinging around creating snowflakes inside the house. She turned to Lyndon who was walking down the stairs, she smiled and gently put back the wand to the rest of the wand on the shelf.

"How long have you been there?" She asked awkwardly because honestly, she forgot the time.

"Not too long."

Guide-sama: "An hour."

He's been watching me for an hour?

Guide-sama: "Yes."

"Y-yes, I'm hungry." Yanarym smiled at him.

"Let's go," he walked first heading to somewhere and Yanarym followed him. When he opened the door, the aroma from different dishes entered her nostrils.

The dazzling gold and silver platters and utensils shine on her eyes. Unlike Kraig, Lyndon was no gentleman, he didn't open the door for her nor help her with the chair, he didn't converse with her or stare at her with fake affectionate eyes. He just let her be, which was somehow convenient to Yanarym.

Because, this means, Lyndon was the type of person that was blunt and an inconsiderate man. He was easy to read because he was true to his intentions. He did not care about others and would only lie to them if it was necessary. Though the original was receptive to his horrible personality, she was blind in love. It did not matter, as long as she was deluded about her love for him. A total fool.

"You can have whatever you want," Lyndon uttered callously.

She smiled in return for that brusque attitude. "Thanks." They ate in silence.

Lyndon could not help but keenly observe her. He felt drawn to her, he was intrigued by what would she do next or what would be the next thing that would happen to those who surrounded her. It was altering the flow of the circumstances. Earlier, his thoughts about disregarding his feelings for Tiana dissipated. Tiana cried in his arms, she was so heartbroken and she had no one but him.

At this rate, there was a high probability that she would end up relying on him, which would make her fall in love with him. Deep enough for her not to look back on Kraig. If Yanarym would do a better job, everything would fall back to its proper place.

When they were done with their dinner, Lyndon led Yanarym to the balcony of his room. Yanarym obediently followed him from behind. From their first interaction, in the locker room that first day she transmigrated here. She failed to recognize how dreadful his treatment was when he was with her. Yet today, she could distinguish the hatred, no, it was not hatred, rather it was contempt. She could feel Lyndon's contempt towards her.

On a side note, in the book, this timeline was where Lyndon and the original were supposed to have a 'secret' affair. However, she noticed that rather than a lover, he was treating her more as a subordinate. Not even as a close confidant but similar to the lackey's status. Although she was aware of that superiority structure between them, it was a little different from how the original conceived it in her memory. So, Yanarym was expecting a little act of kindness from Lyndon—she should have not had any hope for him—the original thought so highly of these bastards.

Moreover, Kraig reacted so sheepishly and 'easy to get –that she anticipated a comparable response from Lyndon.. Somehow, they felt so similar when they had contradicting personalities.
