Chapter 150 - RANKS

Odd enough, Lapil was the type of man who had lots of patience interacting with infuriating people like Maki but as of now, he's losing it.

"But I did not," Maki replied dryly.

"Because she was smart enough to trick you."

"That's why I had her first."

"You bastard!" Lapil roared, he was about to stand up while holding his kampilan-

"That's enough! Both of you!" Datu Pita whacked the table with his palm. The ice shaves spilled because of it. Both young men shut their mouths not wishing to anger the person who will give them a blessing to marry the woman they love. They shot each other electrifying eyes and had a dispute through glaring.

Datu Pita sighed, "Young men, no matter what you say, I will only listen to my daughter's wishes. If she doesn't want you, I will not bestow marriage to any of you."

"Yanar likes me!" Lapil yelled when he heard this rhetoric.

"She likes me too," Maki commented too. Datu Pita shook his head and stood up.

"This will never end, I better do something more productive than listening to your arguments." Datu Pita said and left the two young men to fight and argue by themselves.

"Just stop interrupting on what should happen. She is my bride and she'll be my wife." Lapil said when he doesn't feel Datu's presence in the room.

Maki sneered at him, "You were engaged but it doesn't matter. How can you marry a woman that was already held by someone else?"

"That's enough! Are you proud of forcing her?!"

"I did not force her Ginoo, even if you ask her now, she will tell you how we enjoy that night---"

"I should just cut your indecent tongue." Lapil holds his sword and prepares himself to slash his neck but Maki wasn't scared of it.

"Why? Can you not accept the fact that she likes me more than you?"

"How could you say that? Do you have proof that she likes you more?"

"Did you make love with her? You didn't, did you? Because she won't let you." Lapil loosened his grip on the handle of his sword when he heard this. Then, he remembered what they did on the boat.

Truthfully, they both enjoyed it, but she was not letting him do more. What else, she pretended to sleep after he pleasured her… he felt that his confidence decelerated.

"What else can you give her if you married her?" Lapil said grimly. "I am the son of Rajah, even without the Rajah's influence, I have much more wealth and power than you. You're nothing but a nameless warrior." Just like how Maki attacked his weakness he did the same too.

And clearly, Maki was affected by this fact. So, Lapil continued, "Yanar is used to living in luxury and power. She's not the type of woman who is willing to serve someone even if it's her husband. She is a princess that is meant to become a queen… not just your wife who will cook and clean the house for you." He grinds salt on Maki's pride and living.

And Maki had his mouth shut as everything he said was true. He is a nameless warrior, he has no status or wealth to offer to the Bai. He did not consider it before but is a princess that is meant to be treated like a queen...

He clenched his fist and glared at Lapil, "Are confident that your everything could make her happy?" He retorted and grins at him.

"You're not, right? Because you know even if she is used to a life of being a Bai, she's not inclined on gold and ranking. She is free and adventurous, she's not the type of woman you can shackle on the throne of becoming a Hara." Maki stood up and started down at Lapil.

"Don't be so cocky that you are more prosperous than me, or much outstanding or more influential. Those things, she doesn't give a fuck in those. As long as she likes me more than you do, I already won this battle without lifting a sword."

Lapil was in a daze hearing that, before he could even refute, Maki had left the room leaving him all alone. His hand-formed into a fist. He gritted his teeth and kicked the small table on his front. He had to acknowledge that she had never told her feelings for him. And they just shared too little time.

If he ranks himself to the men who had her, he was placed last. He doesn't even know things like she can't eat fish or she can't have two bowls of shaved ice. That's how par they are, he knows nothing about her and it's making him furious thinking that that young warrior has known her since she was a child. And the young Datu had been with her for almost a year.

What about him? He can still count on fingers the day that they've been together. He looked down on the floor, despairing, how can he say that she feels the same way as he does? Does she even like him? She never said it to him. She never tells him her thoughts at all. She did tease him, but does that count as admiring him? Or she was simply using him?

Yanarym prepared everything she needed from clothes to her ancient version of toiletries. She tied up her hair into a bun as she didn't want to get it to soak today. She took the cloak that she sewed herself as doesn't want to get caught by Tala's or Achis' people from going outside. She's still hiding from those two, fortunately, Achis and Tala were still on the puod of Rajah.

Guide-sama: "Actually, he is preparing to get back here."

"Then, it's time for me to hide even more." She replied.

Guide-sama: "Why would you hide from him? He can be useful in the incoming battle, can't he?"
