262 It Is Wu Xiao Li

"Let's talk in my office, shall we?" The doctor suggested. Wu Zihao only left after appointing his best men to stand guard outside Xiao Li's ward.

"So you are the child's mother, right?"

"Yes, I am." Jin Qingling nodded as she seated herself beside Wu Zihao.

"And where might be the father?"

"Sitting right in front of you." Wu Zihao's tone was as deadpanned as it could be.

Dr. Lu's eyes slightly widened on his response, but she immediately schooled back her features. There was not a single person who did not know about the Wu family and none of them ever heard about Wu Zihao fathering a child, and on top of that, a child who was already more than 3 years old.

"She– she is your daughter Mr. Wu?"

"Do you have a problem with that?"

Dr. Lu immediately cleared her throat and pushed her thick specs back on the bridge of her nose before replying. "No, no problem at all. Pardon me for being nosy. Let's get to the point."

Wu Zihao responded with a curt nod and his expressionless face immediately turned very awkward with the next question from Dr. Lu. "What is the child's name?"

He was at a loss for words and turned to Jin Qingling for the answer because he didn't know her name. "It is Jin Xiao Li."

He found the name slightly familiar but because he was not in the state of mind to think much about it, he let it go. "She means Wu Xiao Li."

Doctor Lu raised an eyebrow and gave them a strange look. Wu Zihao was quick to get the meaning behind it and in an authoritative tone spoke again, word for word. "It is Wu Xiao Li."

She added the name in the system and got straight to the matter. "Mr. Wu, your daughter does not have any superficial injuries and her fever will also subside soon. However, she is still just a child and the incident has severely affected her psychologically. The fever which is also a result of the trauma might subside soon, but it can take a very long time for her to overcome the shock."

"Will she be fine?" Jin Qingling's voice had turned hoarse from all the crying.

"Yes Miss Jin, she will be, provided she is taken proper care of. Children at this age are very sensitive. So as parents, you will have to make sure that she stays in a healthy and very cheerful environment, or the situation can go downhill as well."

"Can I see her?" Wu Zihao asked after Dr. Lu finished telling them everything she had to.

"Unless you don't interrupt her sleep, you can."

Without waiting for Jin Qingling, Wu Zihao thanked the doctor and went straight to Xiao Li's ward and Jin Qingling quietly followed after him.

His mouth gaped open when he saw the face of the little girl sleeping on the bed. "She?"

"What's wrong?" Jin Qingling who was standing nearby asked in confusion. This was not exactly the reaction that she expected from him.

"I have met her before," he whispered. It was only after seeing her that he realized why he found the name so familiar. It was the same girl.

Surprise surfaced on Jin Qingling's face. "You have? When?"

"In Yang Town." As if recalling the happenings of the day, his gaze turned to nothing in particular. "It happened when I went there looking for you. She had escaped from her school that day and was hiding in a nearby cafe where I happened to go for brunch." He got so overwhelmed thinking about the day when he met Xiao Li the first time. He was happy because their first meeting was quite amusing but was also sad at the same time because he didn't even know that he had a daughter till then. The day he met her, he found her very cute and adorable. And not just that, he also became very posessive for her and even threatened her teacher in the school because he could not bear to see the small face of the girl turning so gloomy because of the scolding from her teacher. Never did he think that this girl would turn out to be his daughter, that he would spoil to no end in the fututre.

His gaze never left Xiao Li's face as if he was trying to memorize every inch of his daughter's face, worried that he might not get to see her again. He extended his trembling hand to softly caress her small face and without even realizing his eyes welled up. He then bent forward and placed a small kiss on her forehead.

"Xiao Li, my daughter. I am sorry for all the trouble that you went through. Dad is very sorry about it." His voice was so low, that Jin Qingling who was standing just two steps away from him could also barely hear anything. And as if afraid of hurting her, his fingers caressed her forehead as gently as he could. "But you don't have to worry anymore. Dad is here. He will take care of everything for you now."

If he could, he would have statued himself next to his daughter's bed, not letting her out of his sight for even a second, but when one of his subordinates came to inform him that his father wanted to talk to him urgently, he was forced to walk out of the room.

"Where on earth have you been Zihao?" Wu Jinhai's tense voice came from the other end.

"I came to take care of some personal matter. What is it?" He chose not to break the news to his family about Xiao Li on call.

"And how are you doing now?"

"I am much better but you sound tense. What happened?"

Wu Jinhai was quiet for a while before finally answering. "It is about your brother. He is missing."
