Chapter 1409 Failed To Save The Baby

As they rushed to the hospital, Richard looked behind him to check the back seat. He locked eyes with Bun and asked, "How is she?"

Linda grumbled, "Grandfather, not now. Don't distract Bun."

Richard sighed exasperatedly and kept his mouth shut. Sensing the tense environment, he sat back and waited anxiously for the car to arrive at the hospital. Mamie looked deathly ill.

He frowned as he felt that he couldn't do anything but sit idly.

The truth was that Linda could easily tell her grandfather what had happened to Mamie, but she was too embarrassed to say so. Men did not know nor understand the sensibilities of a woman.

Linda couldn't tell her grandfather that Mamie was bleeding profusely.

The longer they took on the road, the lower the chance that the child would survive.

When they finally reached the hospital, Anna was already waiting for them. She opened the car door to take Mamie in.

"My Lady! What happened here?" she asked.

"There's no time! Just get her inside. Please try to save the baby," Linda pleaded with bleary eyes.

Without wasting another second, Anna turned her head to call for back-up. They were quickly able to remove Mamie from the vehicle, and onto a stretcher. They rushed her to the operating room. However, Anna didn't follow after the emergency crew.

Anna wasn't specialized in gynecology. She would

for him.

She started to regret telling her grandfather about Mamie's pregnancy to Devin's child. She should have just stayed quiet.

Her grandfather didn't need this added stress when he was supposed to enjoy his retirement. It wasn't something that old men in their 80s had to worry about.

"Grandfather. Maybe you should just go home. You shouldn't bother yourself with this. This is all my fault. I should have..."

Linda trailed off as she thought about the words she could say, but nothing came up. The child was Devin's legacy. It was the only reminder of his unfortunately brief existence.

Richard laid a hand on Linda's shoulder as he offered her a comfort. "No, I should stay. You should rest. It's been a long day. I want to sit here for a while to think," he said before squeezing her shoulder reassuringly. "I... I want to mourn the loss of the Nalan Clan's youngest child," he added.
