Chapter 554 Keep Addressing Him as Brother-in-law

"I know you have someone else in your heart, but I can wait for you! I can wait until you are ready to open up your heart to me one day," Cindy said firmly.

"Wait for me?" Paul grinned broadly, staring into her eyes. If only Paul smiled more. "Then how long are you going to wait for me?" he added.

"I'll wait for you for my entire life! Forever, if that's what it takes!" Cindy said without hesitation.

Hearing Cindy's impulsive promise, Paul shook his head again. Cindy indeed was too young to know about the weight of a lifelong commitment. She always blurted out such an important promise easily. Most probably, it was only a verbal promise which would be never put into action. As the saying goes,"Promises are made to be broken."

"Okay, enough of this. I have to carry on with my work. There are a lot of tasks that need my attention at the company. Cindy, you are very pretty and smart. Stop wasting your time with me. I've told you many times that I'm not right for you. I am sure that you'll be able to find someone better than me and perfect for you, very soon,"

Paul said and then left the villa.

However this time, Paul felt strange when he refused Cindy again. As he stepped out of the villa, he somewhat felt something uncomfortable in the pit of his stomach. It didn't hurt but it wasn't pleasant either, and he didn't know exactly what was causing it.

Cindy on the other hand, felt much more composed now, compared to being heartbroken the last time Paul turned her down. She fell into a heap on the floor, hugging herself and kept crying hysterically last time. Although she still felt sad, she was determined to become stronger and would go on pursuing him until he learned to love her back.

Paul was the man she was in love with, and she wasn't about to give up easily, no matter how much effort she had to put in and no matter what the consequence would be. Cindy had grown into a woman who had the guts to pursue what she wanted and had the courage to endure the pains that came along with it.

At around four o'clock in the afternoon, Linda told Cindy that they would go out for dinner and have fun at a KTV later in the evening, as a way to celebrate the success of her grandfather's brain surgery.

Cindy had known a little about Lord Nalan's situation from Linda, and she also knew that he had always treated Linda very well. So, even though Cindy hadn't had the chance to meet Lord Nalan and know him well enough, she somehow had a very good impression of him. Deep in Cindy's heart, she also felt glad that his surgery was successful.

But Linda didn't want to tell Cindy about the evil deeds of Rosy Nalan, Jessie Luo and Sarah Shen. She had left out that part. She hated those people who had made her life not only complicated but also full of misery and revenge. Naturally, she wouldn't want to get Cindy, this young and pure girl, involved in this ruthless and corrupt way of life. As much as possible, Linda really hoped that Cindy would lead a pure and simple life.

Linda had already, unwillingly got Cindy caught in danger on the day of her childbirth. She didn't want it to happen

restaurants that she had gone to. They indeed justified the high price. But Linda still felt it was too extravagant. She was still in the process of getting used to such luxuries. Linda was a foodie who enjoyed gourmet meals very much. But if every meal was as expensive as this, she would feel very uneasy.

The second dish was beef consomme.

Seeing the beef consomme, Cindy curled her lips with contempt. This dish looked so bland and light flavored, unable to arouse Cindy's interest.

Charles raised his brows when he noticed Cindy's contemptuous look, and said with a smile,"Cindy, how about you have a taste of it?"

Although reluctant, Cindy took a few spoonfuls into her bowl and began having a few sips.

As soon as the first spoonful of soup went into her mouth, Cindy's eyes lit up with excitement. Where on earth did that come from? It tasted so unexpectedly good! The strong flavor of beef filled her mouth, titillating her taste buds. What's more, Cindy always had a special liking to beef, so after the first spoonful, she couldn't help having more again and again. Forgetting that she was with other people, she had finished the full bowl of beef soup.

Although it looked very light flavored, all the fresh taste and essence of the beef had been concentrated in the soup.

From then on, Cindy no longer doubted the flavor of any dish in that restaurant.

Not long after, the other main dishes were piled onto the table for everyone to enjoy. They were all so good that they couldn't pinpoint which was the best of all. Each person had his or her own favorite. After finishing the main dishes, Linda had tried some of the desserts. Girls were always fond of sweets, because the high sugar content spiked their mood and made them feel happier.

Linda especially loved the ice cream. It had a rich and creamy texture with a generous topping of decadent Belgian chocolate. The flavors exploded in her mouth after the first spoonful that she didn't want to swallow immediately, savoring the extraordinary flavors going on in her mouth. It was an amazing experience!
