"Oh, that is something. Please, bring all of them in right away and I will set them up in one of the rooms in this building. How many will I be expecting?" Asurlon stood up and started pulling out some keys.

"There are ten of them. Four children, one teenager, and five a.d.u.l.ts. I do not know if more were lost before but this is all that could be saved." Leo looked at the humans that were weak, "also the humans are quite weak right now, so get the chefs to prepare some light foods and a light treat for the kids as a reward for finishing the meal."

"You can consider this a complete task. I am ready when you are to bring them." Asurlon hung up the phone and started typing out the commands. He had started typing it before the call ended.

Leo hung up the phone and looked at the group of people. "You will travel in groups of two. I know that you have gone through a lot over the last little while but I repeat that I am here to help you guys. Asurlon is my boss and a great man. He is setting up a place for you to spend the night and some food for you all to eat."

The humans looked at Leo and one female sighed, "thank you, Sir. I am grateful that you are actually helping us. If I may, could I tell you my story of how we got here in the first place?"

Leo nodded his head, "that would be most appreciated." He leaned against the wall and looked at the female human. "Sylvie and Ketan, I will get you to take all the groups to the office. I would like to hear the story before she leaves."

The teenager walked up to her and sat down on the ground.  She was standing but seeing her son she sat down next to him. "We are all from a small village that was dying. There were thirty of us in the beginning. There were some elderly that decided that they would not leave the village but I do regret leaving the village now. When Valdis came to the village he offered a deal that seemed too good to be true. I thought about it and we as a village discussed what we should do. I thought what is the harm in trying. My son expressed that it seemed like a scam and that no one would do something without personal gain." She patted her son on the shoulder.

"I personally did not like that man. He seemed like he was plotting something. I didn't say anything to my mother for fear that I would get in trouble but now I regret that choice of not speaking up." He shook his head.

"You have a good head on your shoulders. I am helping you guys because you have been lied to. I want that person to pay the price for their actions. Using the organization I will help you guys recover but you will be stuck in the building and observed closely at first. I do not know what he has done to you guys and you all look malnourished." Leo watched as Sylvie and Ketan moved the groups out of there.

"The elder thought the same as my son. We convinced them that some of us the younger generation would go and see if the deal was too good to be true. Twenty of us left the village while ten stayed behind. I know that my son came with me only to make sure that I would be alright. I do not have the greatest health and my son worked the fields twice as hard to cover when I got sick. I felt bad for not being able to help but there was nothing I could do. Got off-topic there. Valdis offered us a room and board job. We would be able to live in the house here and work. Our jobs varied from cleaning, cooking, minding the animals that were in this barn. There were not enough rooms in the house so half of us stayed in the barn. The ones that stayed in the barn worked out in the barn or so we were told. I had a good friend that stayed in the barn so that I could stay in the house. I was worried about her so I came outside one day to check up on all of them and there was no one left in the barn. There was a note that I found." She rummaged through her pockets and pulled out a letter and handed it to Leo.

Kamilla,

If you are reading this then you must know that everything was a scam. I was forced to tend to the animals while the others got tied up. The man named Valdis scammed us. I can not explain how disheartened I am over this. I hope that you can escape from this. I am using my own blood to slowly write this but I hope that I can get it all written down before my time comes.

Valdis told me that he went back to our village and killed the elders that stayed behind. We do not even have a home to go back to anymore. I wept silently when I was told this. I watched as Valdis started to drain the blood from the others in front of me. I fear that my days are numbered.

My beloved Timo died in front of my eyes today. I worry that you will be brought out here. I pray that the living accommodations have been better for you. I predict that the rest of the members will not last much longer. I do not understand why he needs our blood. There is nothing a human can do with human blood but he has been draining everyone here and I fear I will be tied up next.

There are now only me and Raymond left. Valdis came back and was looking rather pleased. I tried to beg him to let us go. I am sorry. I thought that we would have a better life but that is not the case at all. I am so sorry, Kamilla. Valdis said that I will be drained tomorrow. I am finishing this letter off and hoping that you find it.

At the end it was signed,

With love your sister and best friend,

Grace
