Book 3: Chapter 5 (2/8)

Name:Twin Soul Author:Zskyph
Despite having no respect toward the Devil Overlord, Kain still slightly bowed toward the Overlord to pretend to show he respected her and said using a gentle tone, “My name is Kain Bersk. It is an honor to be able to speak with you today, almighty Devil Overlord.”

Still wanted to punish Kain for his disrespect of looking directly into her eyes earlier, but the Overlord didn't show any hostility and calmly said, “My name is Anwyn Richir, ruler of the Devils’ planet, Protector of the Hell Realm. Kain, I heard Thomas mentioned you came to speak to me about Noe Clerico from Toria Continents.”

“That is correct. I fought with Noe Clerico yesterday and couldn’t kill him doesn’t matter how many times I tried. After the battle was over, Noe mentioned that he had a powerful Soul-Bound Creature. I wonder if, by any chance, you know who is his Soul-Bound Creature?”

“I don’t. Why are you asking me this?”

“Because the way Noe described, his Soul-Bound Creature is much stronger compared to Devils and Archangels. In the lower realms, who else could be stronger than Devils and Archangels except you, the almighty Devil Overlord?”

“Hah, I like your ass-kissing tone. You and Noe fought and you are still alive which meant you aren't weak, but I sensed very little magical energy and physical force from you.”

“Sadly, I was the one that was fighting using all of my power. Noe on the other hand was just flying still while allowing me to kill him repeatedly.” Kain humbly said.

“That man irritated me too much. He went to my planet, killed my guards, turned them into his minions, taunted and embarrassed me, then walked away like I was not worth fighting with.”

“I understand how you feel. You have given me the answer I was looking for. Before I leave, may I ask you a favor?”

“A favor? Hah, what is it?”

“Evienne was recently banished from her family and has nowhere else to go. I would love to bring her back to Toria Continents but doing so would require a portal connected to the Hell Realm is open. And sadly I can't open any portal connected to the Hell Realm at this time.”

“Even if you can open the portal connected from the Hell Realm to Toria Continents, it is impossible for Evienne to come through without permission from Watcher Zorim. From my understanding, no demon or angel shall be able to live permanently in another realm.”

“I understand that. That is why I wonder if you can allow Evienne to stay in the Thirteenth Gate with Kimaris until-”

“You better stop talking about Kimaris before I get angrier.”

“My apology, almighty Devil Overlord. I would like to find a place for Evienne to stay. Without your permission, no Demon Lord would dare to house her inside their gate.”

“Evienne, come forward.”

Being called by her name, Evienne carefully stepped forward while keeping her head down to show how respectful she was toward Anwyn and respectfully said, “Overlord, you called for me.”

“Why are you being banished from the Lucifuge Family?”

“Because I lost in the arena of a Timeless Dungeon in the fight against him.” Evienne pointed her right index finger at Kain and continued, “Based on the agreement I have before participating in the arena, I was forced to become his Soul-Bound Creature. I disgraced the Lucifuge Family and was banished by my father for all eternity.”

Anwyn nodded her head in acknowledgment and said, “Raise your head."

Following Anwyn's command, Evienne raised her head but was still careful not to look into Anwyn's eyes.

Anwyn asked, "From what I have known, you are the most powerful Devil Warrior in the Lucifuge Family, isn't that right?"

Evienne nodded but then shook her head and respectfully said, "My power isn't comparable to you, Overlord."

"Answer my question honestly."

"Yes, Overlord. I am the strongest Devil Warrior in the Lucifuge Family."

"Good. Staying with other Demon Lords will be prohibited as it could break the balance between Hell Gates and Devils’ planet. Become one of my guards, and you may stay inside my castle. Do you accept?”

“I gratefully accepted, dear Overlord.”

“Excellent. Follow Thomas to get your uniform and start your duty immediately.”

“This was easy.” Kain thought to himself.

“Ah, one more thing. By becoming one of my guards, you can’t leave my castle without my permission.” Anwyn said as she was looking at Kain.

Kain knew Anwyn was staring at him but he still calmly said, “Overlord, because Evienne is my Soul-Bound Creature. Every time I conjure her using [Soul Bridge], she must come to assist me in battle. I wonder if-”

“Stop. That won't happen anymore. There will be no portal that can be open inside my castle even when you activate [Soul Bridge] spell.”

“In that case, would you please grant Evienne a land where she can build her own castle and live permanently instead of becoming one of your guards?”

“Are you out of your mind? You asked me to house Evienne, and I grant you that favor by allowing her to become one of my guards. Now you dared to ask me to grant her land to build her own castle? Where did you gain that kind of courage? Do you want to die here today, Kain Bersk?”

“Overlord, if I have angered you, please pardon me for my ignorance. However, I needed Evienne's assistance to defeat Noe Clerico in my upcoming battle with him. If you grant me this favor, I will never forget it. If I can ever help you with any task, my answer will not be no.”

“Pathetic human! Why would I care about granting you such a favor?”

“Overlord, I truly appreciate your time speaking with me and Evienne today. Very well, I shall take my leave now. Evienne, let’s go.”

Kain turned around and attempted to walk away but Anwyn angrily said, “Evienne agreed to become one of my guards. She is no longer allowed to leave this castle without my permission!”

Evienne was so happy seeing Anwyn get angrier, to add oil to the fire, she said, “Overlord, I should follow Kain Bersk out of here before he gets angry and starts causing chaos inside your castle. I thanked you for your kindness, but I must decline to become one of your guards in fear of making Kain angry.”

Hearing Evienne say such nonsense, Anwyn laughed, then mockingly asked, “Is that so? Kain Bersk, do you dare to cause chaos in my castle?”

Still playing his respectful character, Kain said, “I wouldn’t dare to. But if Evienne and I may leave your castle in peace, that would be best for all of us.”
