Chapter 106 - The Pink Menace

I stuffed a small cake into my mouth and munched on it happily as I returned to the dorm.

People were staring at me since I was still wearing my black figure outfit, but I didn't care.

I had cake and I got to wear pants today. It was a good day!

Well... It would have been better if I didn't get attacked by Mary.

Luckily for me, I'm fast on my feet AND I'm a genius. So I was able to run away and hide.

I hid under a vendor's stall, to which the vendor got super angry and started chewing me out... When I bought all of his tiny cakes, he certainly changed his tune.

Ah.. I wish I had more arms to carry cakes in.

I decided to head back to the dorm since I had nothing else to do.

It's funny how this school has dorms. Although, it's nothing like a dorm I'm used to. When you think dorm, you think of shared bathrooms and bunk beds with only one desk to call your own.

However this place assumes that dorms mean something totally different. Not only do I get my own room, but also my own bathroom and my own study! Not only that, but the space is much bigger than any one bedroom apartment I've ever seen!!

The only thing I have to share is a common space and that is only with one other person. Unfortunately, there is no TV, but there is several well decorated couches.

When I arrived with my parents, it had seemed that my roommate had already moved in. I didn't care to even meet her. I'm sure we won't get along.

How do I know that? Well her door was decorated so girly I wanted to puke. There was so much glitter I'm pretty sure I got some in my eye just by looking.

She also tried to decorate the main area with doilies and girly stuff, but I tossed those out of the open window.

I won't allow such obnoxious decorations in our shared space. Plain and simple. That's the way to live.

My father didn't want me to stay in the dorm. He fully intended on buying a house close to the Academy and moving the entire family there.

I thought this was unrealistic and ridiculous. However, I soon realize that most noble families do this. It's better to send a carriage with their child to class instead of having them stay in such a "cramped" place.

Not to mention you weren't allowed to bring any maids to the dorm. So taking care of yourself would be a must. Very few nobles would do that.

So basically, only commoners and the lowest tier of nobility would stay here.

But there was no f*cking way I'd take a carriage to class when I could walk from a dorm.

I forced my father to let me stay in the dorm. I also refused to let him move to the Imperial City. I even pulled out the 'I will hate you' card to get my way.

Eventually, he agreed. But on two conditions. One: Bertram had to stay in the dorms with me.

Now the dorms have a very strict no men allowed rule. But somehow, Bertram and my father managed to persuade the dorm mother to look the other way. Don't know how they managed that, but I won't ask questions.

He got a small one bedroom room that was more like a broom closet. It was cramped, but enough for him. After all, I'm pretty sure he never sleeps. Like. Ever.

He's always either secretly following me around or he's poised at my door ready to kill anyone who dares enter.

He really is a strange fellow. I honestly didn't think he would take my bodyguard job so seriously.

Now, the second condition of my father's was that Lona got a house nearby and took care of me. She would check up with me regularly and report it back to my father.

For some reason he doesn't trust me. Hmm. Weird.

But I was fine with these conditions. After all, I've really grown attached to Lona and Bertram. Plus, for some reason I feel really relaxed knowing they are nearby.

It's also relaxing to know I won't have to hide my collection anymore.

Which reminds me. I still need to unpack my bags.

I munched on the cake and approached the entrance. Before the door stood Millie, Dante, and William, who seemed to be arguing about something.

I abruptly turned around to walk away.

Nope. Not dealing with that.

"Seri!"

D*mn.

I turned back around and saw Millie running after me with a bright smile, "Hehe! I knew you'd come here. See? Wasn't I right Prince William?"

He frowned, "Whatever. It was just a lucky guess."

I munched on a cake observing their interaction. Hmm. I've seen they've grown closer. Good.. Good.. Millie might have a chance after all.

"What are you three doing here?" I asked while still munching on my cakes.

William glared at me, "What? Can't we be here?"

"No. It's the girls dorm. So only girls. Last time I checked you were a boy. Oh! You were a girl all along?" I gave him a mischievous grin.

He frowned deeper, "Stop joking around. We are allowed to stand outside, just not go inside."

I clicked my tongue in annoyance. Millie spoke, "I'm also staying in the dorms. My parents couldn't afford to buy another house for me to stay in."

I smiled at her, "Looks like we are dorm buddies then! What room are you in?"

"302. You?"

"410."

She pouted, "Aww. I hoped we would be closer."

I put a cake into her mouth, "It's alright. We will still be able to visit each other and walk to and from class."

She smiled warmly at this while she chewed on the cake. She looked like an adorable chipmunk with those puffy cheeks.

William spoke, "How come you are staying at the dorm though? I thought your father would move here for you."

I nodded, "He wanted to, but I wouldn't let him. I need my independence."

William scoffed, "Can you even take care of yourself without Lona?"

"Hey! For your information I'm actually super capable of taking care of myself!!"

Wait. Am I? I've kind of relied on Lona a lot...

Nah, I will be fine. I've taken care of myself before I became Seri so I'm sure I will be fine.

Right?

William only laughed at the idea of me taking care of myself. "Okay, you will take care of yourself. Sure. But what are you going to do without your precious cats and monkey? Last time I checked, animals aren't allowed in the dorms."

"Oh, Lona's watching the cats for me. She has a place nearby so she didn't mind taking care of them."

William eyed me suspiciously, "And the monkey?"

I broke into a cold sweat and my eyes darted around in a panic, "Oh PoonPoon? He ran away."

"He ran away." William said in a flat tone.

"Yup! Took off in the middle of the night. Never saw him again."

William began to feel my hair. I slapped away his hands, "Oi! Hands off Mr. touchy! What are you feeling for?!"

"The monkey."

"He's not in my hair!!!"

"Hmm. Weird. He's not."

"Gosh. I told you he ran away."

William didn't believe me one bit, "I doubt that."

Millie sighed, "The monkey is in her room, isn't it?"

"Mhm." Dante gave a nod in agreement.

"Hey!" I shouted at them, "Why are you treating me like some delinquent?! I would never break the rules. I'm a good girl."

They all stared at me. Then broke out into laughter. I frowned, "Oi. You're pissing me off."

Millie giggled and rubbed my arm to placate me. "I'm sorry, but you are pretty funny Seri." She stealthily changed the subject, "By the way, who was that girl earlier? She seemed to know you."

"The pink haired devil?"

William's face twitched, "The pink haired devil?"

I nodded, "Yes. She's a true demon. So terrifying she will rip off your skin and turn you into jelly. Yup. It's best if you avoid her. She's truly wicked."

"Wicked? But I don't think I'm that bad."

"AJKSUEIFN!" I screamed and threw the remaining cakes in the air. I turned around abruptly, nearly fainting at the sight of Mary standing behind me so closely.

How long has she been behind me!?

Mary continued to smile completely unharmed by my words. "Ah. My masked hero! You ran away before I could talk to you!"

"KYAAA!" I ran and hid behind Dante, "Dante! Kill her! QUICK!!!"

He only raised an eyebrow in response.

William looked confused, "Masked hero?"

She nodded with a big grin, "Yup! A few years ago, she saved me when I was kidnapped. I've been dying to meet her again so I could properly thank her."

William gave me an irritated look, "Oh she did, did she?"

I poked my head out from behind Dante and shook it wildly. "Nope! I didn't! I definitely didn't!"

Mary pouted, "But I know it was you."

I sneered, "Oh yeah? How?"

"The masked hero had hair that flipped out unnaturally and had peach colored eyes."

Everyone got silent.

There was definitely only one person who would match that description.

F*ck you hair!!! This is all your fault for being so difficult!!!

And you eyes!!! Well... You eyes better just keep on looking so gorgeous.

I cleared my throat, "I'm sure you just remembered wrong. I don't even live in the Imperial City. So how could I save you?"

"Really? Oh but... I was so sure it was you. Didn't you even hurt your ribs when you fell off of the roof?"

I didn't just hurt them!! One of my ribs broke!!! It was super painful! I even had to pretend it wasn't broken so I wouldn't get caught!!!

William glared at me, "I seem to remember after your brother's blessing celebration, you disappeared and came back the next day complaining about your ribs hurting."

I gulped, "I... I... I plead the fifth."

"Huh?"

Millie jumped in, "I'm sorry, but who are you?"

Yes! Saved by my guardian angel!!!

Mary blushed, "Oh! I'm terribly sorry. I've been tremendously rude! Please allow me to introduce myself."

She gave a curtsey so perfect there was absolutely no mistake. I should know, I'm the total opposite.

I shook my head. As expected of the female lead.

"My name is Mary, and I am a new first year student here. I'm looking forward to studying with everyone."

Millie curtsied back, "My name is Millie. I am also a first year student."

"I'm Dante. I'm a fourth year student." Dante gave her a quick smile before returning to his expressionless face.

William just glared, "You should know me."

He remained cold and aloof to her. After all, he's the famous cold and indifferent Prince. (Yeah right.)

She just tilted her head in confusion, "Uhh. I don't actually know you. Should I?"

A silent breeze blew between us.

Yup. Two words. Total airhead.

I screamed, "How could you not even recognize the Prince?!"

Whoa. That came out more aggressive than I intended. I hid behind Dante once more. He just watched me fidget with a cold glare.

She blushed, "Oh my gosh!? I'm so sorry!" She bowed quickly, "I really didn't know!!! I didn't think I would see the Prince here of all places!!"

He rolled his eyes, "Whatever."

Ack. I need to get out of here. Being with Mary isn't good for my heart. I have no idea why I'm so freaked out by her.

Maybe it's because she's one of the reasons why Seri dies.

Or maybe it's because she might connect me to the Black Death.

Either way I don't care.

I took a step back, "Well, anyways. It's getting late. I need to go to sleep now."

William looked at me in confusion, "But it's only the afternoon..."

"NIGHT!" I shouted quickly and rushed into the building.

Millie chased after me, "Wait! Seri! I will join you!"

I walked with Millie to my room. "I understand why Millie is with me... But why are you following us as well?"

Mary walked after us with a happy go lucky face. "I'm just heading back to my room. I've yet to meet my roommate."

I stopped. "Okay. But why are you standing by my door."

She tilted her head innocently, "Hmm? But this is my door."

The blood drained from my face, "Wut."

She giggled and pulled out an identical key as mine, "It looks like we are roommates!"

"Denied." I said firmly and attempted the shut the door on her face. She stuck her foot in to stop it.

"Ouch!" She pouted, "You don't need to be so rough."

I clicked my tongue and stormed away from the door.

What. The. F*ck. Why the hell are we roommates?!

The book never mentioned this!!! Well... Actually it didn't mention much of Mary's living situation...

BUT GOD D*MNIT! I REFUSE!

She walked in the door and frowned, "Where did my doilies and decorations go?"

"I threw them out the window." I responded coldly.

Her mouth dropped, "What!? Why?!"

I crossed my arms angrily, "Because I don't like girly things."

Mary looked to Millie who nodded once, "It's true. Seri likes her room to be simple and boring."

Mary pouted, "Can't we have just a few decorations?"

"Denied."

She sniffled, "Just one?"

"Denied."

"Oh come on!!!"
