79 A Lesson Taugh

Name:The Phoenix Aspect Author:DJRogue
What a disgusting pig Jayde thought, seeing the perverted lust on Mekcos's face, not even bothering with such an insect, Jayde waved her hand her fiery weave of fire magic shot from her fingertips, penetrating Mekcos's chest. Mekcos hadn't even realized that he was dead when Jayde magic ignited the magic within his body and he exploded. His charred flesh splattering all over Jenfer.

Jenfer just stood there dazed as her guards reacted without thinking, rushing to attack Jayde, with another wave of her hand, Jayde fire magic shot from her fingers setting the guards alight. Howls of agony filled the Merchants Guild, as Jenfer's guards fell to the ground.

Jayde fire magic slowly burning them to ash. Jayde then stalked closer to Jenfer.

"No, don't come any close" Jenfer howled, taking half a step back, her legs were trembling so badly that they couldn't support her weight, and she fell heavily on to her ass. Seeing Jayde still walking up to her, she crab-crawled backwards, desperate to get away from this demon from hell.

The people in the Merchant Guildhall were stupefied at the turn of events. The couldn't believe what they had just seen.

Just then a small man came running up to Jayde, falling to his knees he bowed down with his head touching the floor.

"Venerable Lady Mage, please calm your anger" he pleaded desperately.

Turning to stare at the man kowtowing on the floor Jayde lifted one of her eyebrows in query.

"Why should I?" she asked emotionless.

High Merchant Creseul was at a loss on how to answer Jayde's question. Who was he to ask a powerful Mage like her to calm down? Desperately he tried to think of an answer, just then a voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Jayde?" Elder Ryunzo asked hesitantly. Like Master Whitestone, he too was shocked at the sight of Jayde, but he knew that something must have happened, Jayde would never have acted if something hadn't set her off.

"Lady Jayde, if I may ask what did this woman do to upset you?" Elder Ryunzo asked. With so many people looking on, he did not dare to act so familiar with Jayde.

If it had been anyone else who had asked Jayde she would have ignored them, but since it was Elder Ryunzo asking, Jayde gave him the respect due [1] as being an elder and someone that she did respect.

"This woman," Jayde said coldly indicating Jenfer sitting on the floor "whipped Master Whitestone without provocation, and then ordered her guards to burn my face, and then to have me raped repeatable and Master Whitestone skinned alive."

Then turning to High Merchant Creseul who was still kneeling on the floor she demanded: "Is this the sort of behavior the Merchants' Guild condones?"

High Merchant Creseul nearly fainted when he heard Jayde explanation. He had warned Treasurer Lastorm on numerous occasions that his daughter was a walking disaster, and would one day cost him his life, and he had been proven right, the young girl standing in front of him glaring at him had the power to bring the whole building crashing down.

Just then Treasurer Lastorm rushed into the hall, he had been busy with Vice President Guinet of the Merchants' Guild when one the clerks rushed in to inform him that his daughter had been attacked. Furious that someone had dared to raise their hands against his precious daughter, he rushed to the hall.

Seeing the disheveled condition of his daughter sitting on the floor, covered in blood and gore, he barrelled his way through the crowd, with his eyes on his daughter he didn't notice the piles of ash around her.

"Who the f*ck dares to mess with my child?" he roared.

High Merchant Creseul was so shocked by Treasurer Lastorm conduct, that he was stunned mute. Couldn't the idiot see that there was a powerful Mage standing there?

"This vile piece of rubbish is your daughter?" Jayde sneered.

Seeing the young girl standing there in front of his precious daughter, dressed in strange animal leather, Treasurer Lastorm lost it.

This low born piece of trash dared to insult his daughter, dared to disrespect him in front of all these people. Treasurer Lastorm had never been so mistreated in his whole life. His brain clouded with outrage, he rushed towards Jayde his meaty fist raised.

Since Elder Ryunzo had arrived Jayde had calmed down a bit, so instead of blasting the idiot rushing towards her into tiny bits, she just wove a fireball which she threw at the marble floor directly in front of Treasurer Lastorm.

With the impact of Jayde's fireball, a small crater opened up in the marble floor, the outer edges of the crater were charred black from the pure heat of her fireball. Small shards of marble flew in all directions, some of the shards pieced Treasurer Lastorm legs.

Treasurer Lastorm's body reacted before his brain caught up, coming to a grinding halt. Staring dumbly at the crater in front of his feet, he didn't even feel the pain of the shards that had pierced his legs.

It took a couple of seconds for his brain to catch up, and for him to realize that he had just threatened and insulted a powerful Mage. With that realization the rage drained from his body, his legs weakened and he fell directly onto his knees in front of Jayde.

He was so dead he thought, filled with hopelessness. Giving his daughter a withering look, he prostrated [2] himself in front of Jayde.

"Venerable Lady Mage, please forgive this lowly one's transgression" he begged.

He couldn't believe that his stupid daughter had bought this catastrophe onto them. He had been warned on numerous occasions that his daughter would be the end of him, but he had never taken the warnings seriously. I should have listened to them he thought bitterly to himself.

If he made it out of this alive, he swore that he would tear a layer of flesh off that awful child of his — and his wife for spoiling the little bitch.

"You did not answer my question, is this vile piece of trash your daughter?" Jayde demanded harshly.

"Ah, um, yes Venerable Lady. If this lowly one may ask, just how did my daughter insult you? I swear on my life that if you spare this lowly one's life I will make sure to discipline that vile child" Treasurer Lastorm answered respectfully.

The crowd of onlookers were filled with glee watching the drama unfold in front of them. Treasurer Lastorm and his daughter had oppressed and bullied them for years. To see them in this sorry state was very satisfying. So there is still justice in this world many of them thought.

Notes:

[1] Just as a quick side note, in most Asian novels they would refer to this as "giving someone face",but in English giving someone face has a totally different meaning — it's rather sexual – and normally refers to a male giving female face *Author blushing here*.

The other reference would be to "save face" — which would mean to go to any length to save one's dignity.

(Just in case anyone was wondering why I didn't use the normal Asian reference)

[2] Prostate is to throw oneself flat on the ground so as to be lying face downwards, especially in reverence or submission.
