Chapter 4 - Yan Shu

The next day, Yan Shu woke up early in the morning. After a full day of rest she was feeling rather energetic. She took a shower and changed into an oversized hoodie and loose high-waisted jeans before heading downstairs.

Old Master Su was going through the newspaper in the living room. Seeing his granddaughter coming down the stairs,he folded the newspaper and put it down on the table.

"You are up. Come here. How are you feeling today?" He gestured her to sit by his side. He was delighted to see his granddaughter coming downstairs early in the morning all by herself instead of getting called for breakfast like the other days.

"I feel rather energetic, grampy." Yan Shu looked at the newspaper which was placed infront of her and in it, the picture of her accident was printed on the very first page with broad headline.

Old Master Su noticed her gaze upon the news and followed her eyes which made him let our a grieved sigh.

"Such an unlucky lady. I heard she also has no relatives to take care of her. Do you like her?"  When he saw her staring at the picture of the actress Yan Shu , Old Master was amazed that this granddaughter of his can also be interested in actors & actresses. It made him hopeful and he thought he can keep her engaged in a chat with him with this topic.

'Unlucky? I'd rather say lucky instead your granddaughter is the unlucky one.' She sneered inwardly.

"Hmm..I have seen a few of her movies. She can act unlike the others and surprisingly, she can actually fight too." She pretended to reply nonchalantly when she was actually admiring herself behind the pretense.

Cause in reality, no matter how many claims to be a huge fan of hers, the one who really loves and admires her with all of her heart was actually she herself. 

"Grampy hasn't watch any of them yet. How about you watch them again with me?" Old Master Su was slightly disappointed when he saw her not-a-thing-to-care-about attitude. However, he decided to give it another go and his eyes which were full of hope did really work.

"Sure. But not today." Her face turned red and she tried her best to suppress her laughter after seeing the old man behaving like a kid and his pleading eyes reminded her of those puppy eyes and she gave in.

"What do you have on today?" Just after Yan Shu finished talking Realizing, Old Master Su almost barked at her.

Yan Shu shivered at the sudden howl.

Realizing that he might have scared her, he pretended to cough.

"Pardon, if I scared you but I don't want you to faint again. Moreover, I have promised you that I won't interfere in your matters from now on but you have to atleast report me of your whereabouts. I hope you can understand that I am doing this for your own good."

Yan Shu wondered how it was any different from not interfering in one's matters. After being an actress for almost a decade, she might've been immune to those surveillance eyes around her but it was also one of those things she hated most. That was why she had decided to retire just to get her own carefree life back.

"I booked an appointment with Uncle Bo to have him prescribe some scar removal ointments. I know you are concerned about me, grampy. Just have Ling Mo drive me to the hospital. I will be fine by myself." She tightened her fingers under the loose sleeves trying to suppress her anger as she had the flashbacks of those stalked events of her previous life. She took a deep breath to loosen up.

Being one of the renowned dermatologist of the Capital, Yan Shu was a regular attendee of Doctor Bo. Once, her appointment was delayed and she was notified that he had something personal matters to attend to. Then, when she was leaving she heard the nurses gossiping about Doctor Bo and Su Haolin being close friends, so close that just a call was needed for both of then to rush up to each other whenever any one of then was in need. Yan Shu never knew that the gossips would actually come in handy for her one day.

On the other hand, Ling Mo was one of the most capable subordinates trained by the Su Family and that's why Old Master Su did not have any objections of him escorting her.

"Since, when did you start taking care of your skin? Nonetheless, I am glad that you are starting to take care of yourself."

The pair of oldie and teeny went to the dining hall and had their breakfast.

Yan Shu headed to the main door after finishing her share, where Ling Mo was already waiting for her.

Seeing his Young Miss come out, Ling Mo opened the backseat door of the bentley for Yan Shu. The car then slowly left the Su entrance.

Yan Shu deliberately came an hour earlier of the appointed time intending to visit herself first. She headed to waiting zone first followed by Ling Mo. Then she asked Ling Mo to stay there while she goes to visit her friend and told him to call her when her number comes. Although Ling Mo was suspicious of this friend "friend" but since it was his employer's personal matters he could not query her and followed her orders.

After escaping Yan Shu went to the elevator and pressed for 28th floor , which was a VIP zone.

She walked past few rooms after reaching the floor before finally stopping infront of room no. 2808.

Just as she was about to enter , the door opened from inside revealing a person whom she never imagined to ever see here.

Both sides were stunned seeing each other as they both did not expect to have a sight of each other in this place.

" Come in." Si Junyan regained his composure and invited Su Mo Jiaran inside the room..

" I did not expect President Si to meet here." Yan Shu nodded at him with a half smile and walked by the bedside and waited for Si Junyan to leave.

As her eyes fell upon the person lying on the bed, her body shivered. She could hear her heart throbbed loudly as her eyes welled up. She clenched her fists and gritted there teeth hardly to stop herself from bursting down.

She approached closer to body and caressed her face. The person seem to be sleeping so deeply that even the breathing could not be heard.

She was grateful to this body for taking in all the pains and letting her soul go away without any pains. She touched the bruises of her body and finally broke down in tears.

Outside the room, someone was watching all of her actions from the transparent glass attached to the door. The man have never felt any guilt before this in his life nor did he ever sneaked onto someone. But today he could not help but to stop in his tracks and watch what's going on inside. He did not know why he was so curious over it.

Yan Shu didnt know how long it has passed since she came here. Only when her phone rang did she came to her senses. She tidied herself up before leaving the room.

As she entered the elevator to head to the previous floor a hand stopped the elevator door from closing.

'Ding'

She lifted her eyes to look at the person and was taken aback again but was not much astonished like before.

Si Junyan entered the elevator and pressed for the ground floor. He stared at the reflection of the girl beside side in her elevator wall infront of him and was reminded of the scene he saw just a few moments ago. He would have never believed that this cold faced almighty girl can actually be so timid and helpless if he had not witnessed her break down with his own eyes. But no matter what he could not think of any connection between the two.

Sensing the gaze nearby, Yan Shu was feeling quite uncomfortable. She did not know why he was glaring at her like he had never seen her before.

" Does Young Master Si always stares at beautiful girls like this?" She repulsed at him.

Yan Shu was already immune to the glares of others but she did not know why she was feeling so unbearable with his gaze.

Cough...cough...

Si Junyan was stumped by the sudden attack.

" Is it wrong to look at my to-be-wife?" He upholded himself not wanting to admit defeat.

" I never agreed to marry you. I think Master Si is the one suffering from memory loss." She can still remember how this man teased her for staring at him with wide eyes yesterday.

" But isn't being fiance means you are going to be my wife?" He retorted.

" If I remember correctly, the contract states if the parties involved in the agreement does not fall in love before turning to their adult age, the contract will be invalid then." She scoffed. Before he could say anything she continued, " Master Si has long been an adult but had not fallen in love with me yet. Moreover I don't think Master Si lacks beauties. And the last thing you need to remember is, I was never in love with you neither will be in my upcoming years. So , dream on."

" Miss Su seems different today. How come you were not so bold before when I went to meet you. Infact, you did not even came out of your room." He found her rather interesting today. So many years has passed since they got to know each other, but she has never spoken so much to him before.

" I can sue you of cheating, Master Si. You just came out of a woman's room." Yan Shu did not know why she suddenly spoke about it. She felt like digging a hole right where she was standing and hide in it.

" Seems like Miss Su is jealous." His lips curled up as he smiled. His eyes narrowed as he peered the girl infront of him with his dark azure eyes.

'Jealous, my foot. He is a pervert.' Yan Shu thought to herself.

Just as she was wrecking her brain to retort the person glaring at him , 'Ding' , she finally found her life light.

She stomped on her feet and ran out from the elevator as fast as she can like she was getting chased by some monsters.

Ling Mo saw Su Mo Jiaran running with her life towards him he rushed up to her to protect her. Yan Shu finally calmed down when she saw there was no one coming after her. She took deep long breaths leaning one hand on Ling Mo's shoulder for support and another on her chest.

" Who were chasing you, Miss? Are you okay ? " Ling Mo let her lean on him to calm down and swept through a glance on the whole ward only to see everything normal.

" It was a pervert Seamonster. Never mind. Let's go."

'Seamonster? Is Missy talking about 'bane'[1]?'

Ling Mo was dumbfounded. He just decided to shut up and followed her quietly.
