Chapter 251 - It's A Family Emergency (Liu Meilien x Qing Lok. Can Skip)

Liu Meilien felt like she was someone who could be an angel… maybe not an angel but someone that came from the sky. She felt like she was in heaven. Everyday she woke up with a huge smile on her face then we she would fall asleep at night with her lips still stretched.

It had been awfully nice with Qing Lok for the past few weeks. Too nice in her opinion. She didn't want to overthink but she knew every good thing had something bad attributed to it. Her problem was, she did not know if she was ready to know about the bad side of Qing Lok.

There had to be a reason on why he could not date girls long term. She didn't want to get her hopes up that was why even though she was always on the phone with him (they constantly text each other through out the day), she still had an emotional barrier between the two of them.

But it was not so easy to keep it up. Especially when Qing Lok was the kind of person who exceeds the expectations she held. He was very attentive and puts in a lot of effort whenever they go out. He also changed his body clock to be a little more in sync with her with their waking hours and sleeping times.

Now Qing Lok rubbed his eyes and yawned.

"Did you not get enough sleep last night?" she asked and sipped on her mocha frappe.

"I did," he answered and bowed his head on top of his arm. His other hand was caressing her hand on top of the table. "The classes are just so boring. I already know most of the stuff that they are teaching. I wonder if they have a crediting system wherein I'd just take a test and fly off to graduation."

She dropped her cup and ruffled his hair. "You're going to get there."

He peeked at her. "You're just drying your hand on my hair."

She pulled her hand to her chest defensively. "Am not!"

Qing Lok gave her a lazy smile and sat upright. He gestured for her hand and she placed it back to his. It was this kind of small things that he does that made her heart shake to the point that she thought it would collapse to her feet.

At the same time, it was one of the things that reminded her that maybe everything was just too good to be true for them. She wondered when she would wake up from this dream.

He had not even kissed her yet! On their first date together (separate from A Day of Firsts—which was a total hit in the social medias) they went to a really fancy rooftop restaurant and had dinner while overlooking the city. She wore the necklace he had given her and she honestly thought she would finally get her first kiss.

But when Qing Lok dropped her off in front of their house, he leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"What's going on in your head?" asked Qing Lok just as a waiter left after placing a snack plate on their table. "You look upset."

"No," she said. "I was just thinking about something about YANG."

"You looked really bothered."

She shook her head. "I'm fine." She took a piece of a nacho, dipped it in cheese, and took a bite. "So what are we doing this weekend?" then she quickly followed, "You know, if you want to hang out."

Qing Lok flashed his pearly white teeth at her. "You know you can just say 'take me out on a date' and I would agree, right?"

"I don't want to be forceful about."

"Trust me, when it comes to you. I don't think I'll be able to say no."

"You're just flattering me." She gave him a sad smile and his eyes got worried.

"Are you sure you're okay? Are you not feeling well?"

"I am." She leaned forwards and whispered, "I think I'm about to have my period."

"Oh!" Qing Lok exclaimed and his cheek tinged with pink. He scratched on his ear. "I thought it would be something I can help you with." He turned back to her. "Tell me, when you have your periods, if you don't mind me asking, does it get really bad?"

"Hmm, I feel fine on the majority of the days but a day before I have my period I get serious cramps."

He appeared to be thinking as he chewed on some fries. "I'll send you a monthly care package in time of your period."

"According to my tracker, it will be on Tuesday."

He nodded his head. "Okay, done. I'll mark that on my calendar. How long is your… you know? Cycle?"

Liu Meilien burst out laughing. "Oh you're so funny!"

"What?" he chuckled. "So I'll know when to send it."

"Just download the app and I'll link my account so you'll get alerts."

"Oh, you can do that?"

"Yeah."

It was easy to talk to Qing Lok, he was always game for everything. If he did not know what she was talking about, he was not shy to ask what it was and offer his insights about it. Talking about her period was certainly not the weirdest conversation they had.

So far, Qing Lok had been able to take her out on different times of the day. They were already through the important meals of the day and were now in the in-between hours. Brunch, snack, and hopefully, midnight snack soon.

He drove her home and when they reached the house, Liu Meilien stopped Qing Lok from getting out of the car.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"Can I—"

She was off by the shrill ringing of something from the backseat. Qing Lok reached for the bag and pulled open the zipper with a frown on his beautiful features.

"Wait, I have to go. It's a family emergency."
