Chapter 186 - Get This Party Started

The second day of the photoshoots, it was as if everybody was on the edge of their nerves. Feng Xuan thinks that it was the panic that not everything will get done in time with the launch. She could also feel the tension. The air inside the room was almost freezing but everyone was feeling hot.

She was only forcing herself to not scream at every small thing that was wrong. She breathed in and out hugely and more than enough times clamped her mouth shut instead of speaking.

She was also wondering if it was the right decision to have gave in the condition of including her grandfather's wife in all of this. It was Kimmy's turn at the camera and Feng Xuan did not know if it was Kimmy's doing or it was just Kimmy as a person, but she did not really fit the brand. She was supposed to look elegant. But… she was just so seductive. But today...

"You actually made it work with her," Feng Xuan complimented her cousin who was sitting behind the screen with a clipboard on her lap.

"You have no idea how nervous I was that the dress would not fit her," said Wang Yimin as Kimmy continued to pose.

"She looks beautiful. You've done well."

Kimmy was known to be loud and colorful and fun. Somehow with the clothes and the toned-down make-up, she somehow looked like someone from their family. The dress she had on was yellow and for the first time, probably, it was the only dress that did not accentuated her b.o.o.b.s because of the loose top and the skirt's layers fanned out. It was more about her waist and silhouette now.

Kimmy was beyond ecstatic when her shoot was done. She immediately rushed and hugged her step-grandchildren. "Thank you so much, you girls. You made me really happy today."

There was no denying the raw emotions in Kimmy's eyes and lips. Feng Xuan suddenly felt warm and guilty in her chest. "I can't believe I am saying this, but you've done a great job today, grandmother."

Kimmy laughed aloud. "Of course, anything for my step-grandchildren. Let me know if I can be of more help with the two of you. I have to go, I still have a taping to attend."

"Good luck!" followed Wang Yimin from her seat. She pinched her cheek. "Her pictures actually looked good."

"Is there a reason why I am no longer feeling too nervous?" Feng Xuan asked.

"Well, we got past a huge hurdle already." Wang Yimin raised her voice. "We're in a time constraint. Let's move along!"

They finished around three in the afternoon to get all the models shot. Wang Yimin and Feng Xuan was at the hotel's restaurant.

"Most of the people already said that they would attend," Feng Xuan said. "Do you really think it would be smart to make the announcement in this charity?"

"Of course, we have to get to the side of these women, they are the wives of potential investors. We never know someone might like us and throw us money," said Wang Yimin, forking her greens.

"You're right. Da Xia and her mother are also attending. Maybe it would be great to jump the gun on them."

Wang Yimin's laugh was like angels ringing their bells—if they had any. "I'm so tired, Xuan. We hardly slept."

"We'll get as much sleep as we want after this."

"No, Xuan, we'll be sleepless until we open up the first shop."

"Speaking of," Feng Xuan pulled out another folder. When you're the daughter of a known developer, this somewhat came easy. Her father had some spare spaces in the city and already put one under construction. "This is the design that was sent."

The main color was a light beige and the designs were minimal but they would look expensive. Black and white accents could be seen all over with the touch of gold.

Wang Yimin nodded. "Yes, that's it. That looks really good."

Feng Xuan avoided the folder that included the financial records. She knew how much money would be taken out of her account the day they started. But she could not help looking at her updated bank details and cry a little in her heart.

"You'll bounce back," Qing Chen had told her when he saw what she was doing.

"Wang Yimin, if this fails, we're gonna be broke," said Feng Xuan.

Wang Yimin waved a hand. "Always the drama queen."

**

The day of the launch finally arrived. Everything was set and the cousins felt like they were zombies walking. Feng Xuan almost ran out of concealers to put under her eyes to hide the dark circles.

They were at the party, which Wang Yimin called a "Tea Party" wherein the members of Golden Hearts Charity came together for a chat. There was a short buffet filled with snacks that no one was really eating and Feng Xuan may or may have not poured alcohol in some of the unattended teapots.

"This is so boring," she said. When she was drunk, she recalled she let Wang Yimin sign her up in this club.

"It'll be more fun once they see what we're trying to do for this charity. We can rake up millions just today with the sale of our clothes."

"Tell me, did you cry when you parted with them?" Feng Xuan knew Wang Yimin had a closet the size of a whole floor in her house.

"I was heartbroken," she said. "And those were my least favorites. I would die if I sold all of my clothes."

"And I would die of boredom if you don't get up that stage and get this party started." Feng Xuan answered and drank her 'tea'. "So are you going to get up there, or are you going to watch make me a mess of myself?"

Wang Yimin only stared at her.

"The latter then," Feng Xuan nodded and got up the stage.
