Chapter 178 - LIFE CHANGING

Well, I was pregnant again. That had been the first time that Kyle and I had had sex since Maya was born. It also was only the second time that I had had sex with Kyle when I wasn't pregnant. I guess there is some sort of hyperfertility going on with us. That, or Kyle has some super sperm.

Anyway, we were now busy trying to prepare things for the new Alpha house in Tennessee, as well as for a new baby. Didn't Kyle realize when he got me pregnant again that our two babies would be less than a year apart? Did he not realize that this was going to be hard on us?

Still, I wasn't all that mad. I loved Maya more than anything, and now, I get to double that love.

The building of the new pack house was going well, and very quickly. Thea had apparently called her top vampire in charge, Dietrich Conrad. That vampire had called a wolf friend of his by the name of Reece Gray. I had learned through this long connection that the legendary Luna Queen was real, and this Reece fellow was her mate.. That meant that it was the Alpha King who had called us.

Well, long story short, the Alpha King had called and offered us the use of one of his companies to build the new Alpha house. These people work fast as hell, and after just a month the place was nearly done. We were going to be moving in sometime at the end of January. That meant that I would be a third of the way into my pregnancy, and three months after I became the Alpha.

We would also be moving just in time to celebrate Kyle's birthday in our new Alpha house. There was a lot that we needed to do, and so much that was changing. It was possible I was a little nervous about it all, but I would manage. Kyle was my Lunar now, and he would be there with me to help me through this transition. Deek was my Beta and Gregory was my first Gamma.

Life was changing for us in so many ways. Thinking back to how my life was before I met Kyle and to what it was like now, there were almost no resemblances at all. I didn't even feel like the same person half of the time.

"Jacy, are you planning on taking this? Or is it being left behind?" EZ pointed to my filing cabinet filled with solved cases.

"I'm taking it with me, there is important information in there that I can't leave here in case something were to happen to the house." We were in the final stages of packing and moving to our new home back at my old pack. Well, I guess it wasn't my old pack anymore, I needed to think of it as the current pack, my pack that I was the Alpha of now.

When I was younger, I had never thought that I would ever see the day when I actually became the Alpha. My dad had told me the plans he had for me back then, I knew that Victor wouldn't let it happen. Now, he was dead, they both were, and that future was finally coming true. I just wish that my father had lived to see this day.

"Jacy, are you almost ready?" Lucian called out to me when he came in through the front door.

"Almost, there are just a few things left to figure out, and then it's all ready to be moved." I nodded at him as I stood to greet him.

"You've flying down there but the stuff you're taking is being driven, right?" EZ seemed curious. "Did you hire someone or is a pack member driving it down?"

"Deek is driving it along with his stuff." I was walking across the living room to get Maya as I answered him. Maya was in her playpen and playing with her toys as she laid on her tummy.

"That is convenient." When I turned around with Maya in my arms, I noticed that EZ looked a little sad while we talked.

"What's the matter, EZ?" I didn't like seeing my best friend and pseudo-brother looking so sad.

"I don't want you to leave me." He tried to grin, but it ended up being more of a grimace.

"I won't be gone forever. We will be coming back every few months. We're going to be splitting our time between both houses, you know that."

"I know that, but it won't be the same." He was on the verge of tears, and I could tell that this was hard for him right now. "But I am going to miss you so much, and I will end up missing so much of Maya's life and the new baby's as well. I don't want that to happen. I want to be there for everything."

"Then come with us." I had been thinking about this for a while, but I didn't think that he would want to leave his family behind, so I hadn't mentioned it. I only said it now as a joke because he was acting like it was the end of the world.

"Wait, seriously?" He looked at me with wide, happy eyes.

"I've waited to tell you to come with us, but I didn't think that you would want to. I thought you would want to stay near your family." I shrugged my shoulders, not having expected his response.

"I am an adult now, Jacy, I need to leave the nest." He laughed, which was funny because he was already finally living off their property. "But where would we live?" He tilted his head like he was thinking about it seriously.

"Well, until you figure that part out, you could always live in our Alpha house." His face lit up and I already saw him making the decision that he was actually coming with us.

"I am going to call the guys." He started to head into the other room to make his call.

At that, I saw that Lucian was upset as well. Did he want to move with us too?

"You're welcome to come with us too, Lucian. I need a head of security." I grinned at him. "Alphas and Lunas are supposed to have guards and people protecting them."

"You're tempting me by keeping me working in a similar line of work?" He was smiling now.

"Is it work?" My words were met with his laughter. "I don't want to miss out on having either of my brothers with me."

"Yeah, it is working." He wrapped his arms around me and lifted me off my feet. "I didn't want you to leave me either. Does that make me a wuss?"

"No, it means that we're family and that's all that matters."

After the new arrangements were made, we all got our stuff ready for the move. Kyle liked the idea of having Lucian handling the security detail, and Bastian was going to help him with it when we got there.

It took us a solid week at least to settle in. There was just so much to do. And before I knew it, it was February twenty-second, also known as Kyle's birthday. There wasn't as much of a party as I would have thought that he would have wanted. It was just us at the house and a handful from each pack. We had celebrated my birthday back in November and now his; we were both a year older now.

Today, May the twenty-fourth, was almost my due date, just a day or two away, when I felt the same pain that I had with Maya. It wasn't so bad that I felt like I needed to tell someone about it, but I remembered what had happened the last time, so I told Kyle about it as soon as it started.

It was a good thing that I told him. He had called Deek to the house right away and we found out that I was in active labor. I went about my day as normal with both Kyle and Deek hovering over my shoulder and watching me like a hawk. Kyle remembered that I had been in a lot of pain when my water broke with Maya, so he was worried about it this time too.

Speaking of Maya, every time that I tried to pick her up, Kyle would take her from me and tell me that I shouldn't be lifting her while I was in labor.

"I am not going to break if I hold her, Kyle." I snapped at him.

"I don't want you making your condition worse." That was his response every time.

"You're an idiot." He didn't seem phased by my glare.

"You love me and you know it." He grinned.

"I loathe you and I show it." I rolled my eyes and walked away.

I can't believe he thought that my seven and a half month old baby was going to hurt me if I held her right now. I am a werewolf, for crying out loud, I could hold a lot more than that. Whatever, I would hold her later.

Around four that afternoon my water broke and within thirty minutes the baby was here. Just as quick as last time. It was a boy this time. He weighed almost ten pounds and was twenty-three inches long. He was huge.

"I have a name." Kyle said before I could tell him what I had in mind.

"Yeah?" I was curious, mostly because I didn't know what I should name him.

"Lane Isaac Donovan." He was smiling at me. "It finishes out the consecutive letters and only has four letters in the first name like the rest of us." He had put a lot of thought into this.

"Did you have a name for a girl that would fit that too?" I laughed at his reasons for the name.

"Yeah, Lily or Lila."

"You're an idiot." I shook my head at him, but I did like that name. "I like it though." I looked down at the tiny little face of my little boy. "Hello Lane."

Maya was too young to have much of a reaction to Lane. The two of them would grow up being much like twins and would even be in the same year at school. I hope that wouldn't make them upset in any way.

Still, I now had two infants to care for and love. One adorable little girl and one sweet little boy. I had my family, I had my mate, I had my friends, and I had my pack. I had everything that I ever wanted but thought would never be possible. I finally had a life that I didn't have to worry about or run away from. I could finally be happy.

Check back later for the side stories that are to come. I am planning three side stories in all so I hope you will read them as well.
