Chapter 144 - CULPRITS PART 1

[KYLE POV]

EZ had come to the door alone, and apparently his 'boys' were downstairs with Winston. They were eager to get this show on the road. I couldn't blame them, now could I? I wanted to get straight to the fucking asshole who had been behind this whole plot to murder my wife and baby.

EZ wouldn't even give me time to thank him for coming over; he pushed me out the door before I could say anything more than his name.

"Get out of here and go avenge my bestie." After that he slammed the door in my face, and I heard the lock click into place. Well, I guess it was a damn good thing I was already wearing my shoes and had my phone, keys, and wallet on me. If not, I would be a little bit screwed right now.

Oh well, it was time to get out of here. I had more important things to worry about than thanking the little guard chihuahua.

The moment I walked out the front door of the building, I heard a gruff and angry voice.

"Took you long enough." Lucian growled at me.

"I left as soon as EZ got up there. Literally, he pushed me out the door and locked it." I smiled, but I couldn't bring myself to laugh about it right now.

"Good, we need to hurry." Bastian was looking ready to get straight to business.

"I'm glad I didn't miss the party." Deek came walking up. "I was afraid I was going to be too late to catch up with you all." There was a spark of excitement in his eyes that made him look slightly feral. "I didn't want to miss all the fun."

"Great, it looks like we're all here." Laremy clapped his hands with a grin. "Let's go."

"Hold up." Winston stopped us all. "I know all of you, but I don't know him." He pointed at Deek. "Who's the wolf?" His question was directed directly at me.

"He's a member of Jacy's former pack. He left before she did. He is also the Doctor that saved her and my baby's lives." I could see that the defensiveness was draining from Winston, but some of it was still remaining.

"From her pack?" He didn't like the sound of that.

"Don't worry, pussy cat, I would never hurt Jacy. She was one of the only friends I had back then. And as for her cousin Victor, I wanted to kill that son of a bitch before he went after Jacy so you don't have anything to worry about when it comes to me. I am completely on Jacy's side. Team Jacy through and through." His grin was hiding how angry he was about this whole situation, but it did nothing to take that rage-filled heat from his eyes.

"That's good to know. I just didn't want anyone that we couldn't trust coming with us. My Alpha and Felicitas do not need to have more of these 'issues' that they have been facing." I could tell that Winston only had our best interests at heart here. He really was a good guy. I was thankful to have someone like him on our side.

Now that everything was settled, we all piled into two different vehicles: Lucian's SUV and Winston's Mustang. Winston was leading us to where he had the person behind this whole situation. He drove us to one of the warehouses that was on the bay. Hmm, this seemed like one of those mafia scenes in a movie, only I wasn't going to be the victim. Nope, I was the one that someone needed to be afraid of right now.

When we were all out on the loading dock, Winston didn't even hesitate. He started walking toward one of the more reputable-looking buildings. I recognized it as one that was actually owned by the pack. This was where we got shipments that came in and needed to be dispersed throughout the entire community. So, I guess we were using it as a torture shed too. That was fine by me, as long as I could make these people pay.

Winston pushed the office door open, guided us into the building, and led the way into the storage room. I say room, but it was actually half of the very large building. The added benefit was that it was filled with so many boxes that it would keep any screams from echoing loud enough for people outside to hear them.

When we got to where the prisoner was, I saw that it wasn't just a prisoner, but prisoners. There were three people tied to chairs that were chained to the floor. They could have broken free of the ropes easily, and probably would have if there weren't people standing guard around them.

Baxter and his team of men, Jaron, Rollins, Chafer, Shepherd, and Toren, were standing around the three people that were the perpetrators of this crime. I was actually surprised to see that it was two women and one man sitting there. Then again, poison is notoriously the weapon of choice for women. I shouldn't have been that surprised in the end.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here." I glared at the three people when I saw them. "Zennia and Avery Michaels and the banished Karyn Orson. You know Karyn, it would have been best for you to just stay gone. I spared your fucking life that day and gave you another chance after you were stupid enough to join Gretchen's little challenge plot. You have really made me regret that decision now."

"Fuck you, Kyle!" Karyn spat those words at me. "That fucking whore of yours killed my best friend. She killed Gretchen. Do you not care about that? Do you not care that the strongest female in the pack was murdered?"

"She wasn't murdered, you stupid fucking cunt!" I yelled at her, causing her and the other two that were tied up to recoil a little. "She was killed during a legal challenge. You all knew that the challenge would end in a death; you just hoped it would have been my mate. Do you not fucking care that you tried to kill my wife and my unborn child?! Do you realize how much of a monster that makes you?"

"I don't care! Any child born from that whore will be an abomination. You should never have brought her into our pack. You should have stayed within the pack when you looked for your mate." Spit was flying from her mouth as she yelled and frantically tried to make what she did sound right.

"Fate chose my mate for me, you worthless piece of shit. Do you not know what that means? And if my mate was strong enough to beat you all and kill your best friend, then that means she is what this pack needs. The strongest pack female was not killed because that is obviously Jacy!" My anger and rage were reaching their boiling point, and all I wanted to do was strangle that fucking bitch sitting in front of me.

"I don't care what you have to say Kyle. That isn't how things go. She can't be your mate. She can't be. This pack needs to remain the same way as it always has. We cannot have a disgusting fucking wolf mucking it up."

"Watch your fucking mouth!" Deek yelled at her before I even had the chance. "You have no fucking idea what it is you're talking about. Jacy is the strongest and best female that any pack could have. She's a born Alpha who is stronger than any male in the wolf pack back home."

"And what the fuck would you know about it, you goddamn dog?!" Spit flew in Deek's direction as she screamed at him then. "I don't want to hear you're fucking barking."

I heard the sound of flesh hitting flesh as Deek moved to her side in the blink of an eye and smacked her across the face. There was now a large red handprint-shaped mark across her cheek and tears clearly filling her eyes.

"Just keep your fucking mouth shut if you know what's good for you." I snapped at her. "You've already signed your own death warrant. I don't want to hear another fucking peep from you."

I turned away from Karyn, effectively telling her that she was nothing to me. I was now looking at the husband and wife that were sitting next to her, Zennia and Avery Michaels.

"I just have one question for the two of you; why the fuck did you do this?"

"I didn't know what she had planned. I swear." Zennia was balling now as she answered me. "Karyn said she wanted to get into the wedding to see you one last time. She had been banished. I didn't know she was going to do this, I swear."

I didn't care if she knew ahead of time or not. Because of her this bitch had gotten close enough to my wife to harm her without us knowing.

"Why did you let her in? What did you do to help her facilitate this? I want all the details right now."

I glared at her and her husband as I spoke. The two of them had different looks on their faces, but both of their faces told me that they had been railroaded into this situation. They were here all because of Karyn and her plot. They had gotten mixed up with her somehow and now they were going to die, all because of her.
