Chapter 116 - DREAMS

I had been told that I needed to tell Kyle about my dreams, and he was home now so why not take care of it as soon as possible. He had been informed that I was going to EZ's parents' house for a 'talk' so he was actually home before me.

When he said that he was on his way home, I had gotten ready and left, but the problem was that it took me about forty-five minutes to make it past the Furies ... I mean sisters. They were throwing out demands and telling me they loved me; it was all so confusing.

"Bring him to the next brunch, you hear me!"

"We'll be coming to see you soon, and we need to plan this wedding. If you don't help, it will be all EZ and us."

"Don't you dare try to run away and elope; we want to be there. Take us with you at least."

"I am so happy for you, I can't wait to meet your man and see your baby!"

"He needs to meet the other guys. I wonder if they will get along."

"Don't you dare try to skip the next brunch!"

I had lost track of which sister said what since EZ was laughing the whole time they were hugging me and talking. I spent the time glaring at him over their shoulders, which only made him laugh more.

When I got home that night though, I was surprised that Kyle had made dinner for me. He had a nice little meal sitting on the table with candles and flowers.

"What's this?" I asked him as I walked inside and went up to him for a kiss.

"Mmm." He hummed appreciatively at the kiss and then answered. "I had the time to get dinner made for you. I thought I would put in just a little more effort and make it special." He pulled me close to him and hugged me gently.

"This is that sappy romantic stuff, right?" I giggled at him. "Eww, I think it's going to give me cooties."

"I hope to give you my cooties." He winked at me. "I will give them to you for the rest of our lives."

"I never thought I would look forward to cooties so much." I laughed. "And I guess I can handle romance once in a while."

"Oh Goddess, no. Not romance. How will you ever survive having such an attentive and romantic mate? You poor thing!" The falsetto in his voice made me laugh again.

"I know. It's pure torture. It's a good thing that he's good in bed, that and he's sexy as hell. If he didn't have those going for him, then he would be irredeemable."

"Hmm, then I need to make sure that I stay good in bed." He pretended to be serious for a second, hand cradling his chin as if thinking hard.

"You're not worried about your looks fading?" I raised an eyebrow and glared at him.

"Baby, I'm a feline, we're cute from birth and get better with age. When I am older, I will be even sexier than I am now."

I couldn't help it, I had to laugh at that. I was laughing so hard that it was hard to stand up. If it wasn't for Kyle's arms around me, I would have sunk to the floor.

"That's insulting." His voice didn't hold the accusation that his words did. "Now I won't let you have that nice big piece of meat I had for you."

I shook from laughing so hard at those words that I actually slid from his hands and landed on my knees on the floor. I was holding my sides from all the laughing I had been doing.

"You pervert, that is not the meat I was talking about!" Neither of us were capable of being serious right now. I swear, if someone walked in and saw us they would think we were insane.

"K..K..K..K..Kyle s..s..st..stop m..m..m..making l..l..l..l..l..laugh." I couldn't get a word out past the laughing and gasping for air.

"Then just stop being a pervy girl." He bent to pick me up in his strong arms. The feel of his chest and strong arms may have calmed the laughter, but I still wasn't having an easy time breathing yet. "Now come on, it's dinner time. Let's eat before it gets cold."

Kyle carried me to my chair and pulled it out with his foot. He could have easily held me one handed, but it was clear he wanted to hold onto me more. I loved that about him. Once the chair was pulled out, he sat me in it gently and pushed it in until it was just right. Once I was settled, he sat in the chair that was kitty corner to mine. He often did this so that he was able to hold my hand while he ate. If I needed to use a knife, it made this inconvenient, but most of the time I didn't mind it.

After sitting down, Kyle pulled the silver dome covers off the plates that had been waiting for us. He had made us a surf and turf dinner. A large steak paired with a whole lobster and shrimp skewers. For the sides, there were julienned potatoes covered in cheese and caramelized asparagus. He once again chose a healthier drink for me, a glass of sparkling water and a glass of cran-raspberry juice; his drinks were, of course, the same.

Once we got to eating, I thought it would be best to start telling him about the dream that I had had. I took a drink of the juce to clear my throat and my palette.

"So, uhm, Kyle, how much stock do you put into dreams?" I was trying not to let him know that I was nervous, but he probably already knew.

"Hmm, it depends on the dream. If you're talking about prophetic dreams, then I believe them. Of course, it is hard to know one when you see it."

"Yeah, they can be tricky, huh?. Have you ever had one? You know, showing you the future?"

"Well, nothing that has come true yet. But there was one I had recently that I hope does come true." He was smiling happily.

"Really? And what was that one about?" He had piqued my interest.

"It was Christmas time of this year, we were married, and we had our baby with us. We were together and happy. That was all, and to me that is the best future I could ask for." My heart skipped a beat at his words. He truly was the best guy out there, wasn't he? "Now, what was the dream you had about?" Dammit, how did he know?

"What makes you think I had one?" I glared at him.

"You wouldn't bring this up out of the blue, if you hadn't." He looked at me knowingly. "Come on, just tell me. It can't be that bad. We will figure it out together."

I sighed and hoped he was right. After another drink of juice, I started to explain to him what I had seen in both of my dreams. The peaceful start to them, the happiness that we had with each other. He was right, that would be nice, and I saw that he was happy to hear that part of the dream.

However, when I switched to telling him about the men showing up at the house to attack us, he was not so happy. His mouth had firmed and straightened into a thin angry line that showed me he was holding back his fury with difficulty. He was clenching his fist now too, his food completely forgotten as the fork bent in his hand. He was more pissed than I thought he would be. Only, he wasn't yelling or questioning me about anything. He was just sitting there, radiating a heat that was filled with anger and hatred.

I watched as Kyle worked hard to calm down. He set his misshapen fork to the side and flexed his fingers to loosen the tension in his hands. After a few deep breaths, he looked at me and spoke.

"I will never let any of that happen, Jacy. Do you hear me? I don't care if he does come after you. I will keep him away. I will find him first, and I will kill him. I will not let him hurt my family. I will be there for you and our child." The conviction and love in his voice overwhelmed me, and I actually felt tears well up in my eyes. Stupid pregnancy hormones.

"We're stronger together, Kyle. You know that. We should fight him together. We need to take him on together to protect each other and our baby." I surprised myself there. I think that was the first time I acknowledged the baby like that. I was starting to love and care for the little thing, and it wasn't even here yet.

"No, Jacy. I know we're stronger together, I agree with you. But you're not facing that asshole until after the baby comes. I will not risk anything happening to either of you. I need you, Jacy. I need you, and I need our family. Don't make me worry about you more. Please, please promise me you will stay out of this until after."

He looked so worried, so hurt that I couldn't say no. I took his hand in mine and gripped it tightly to give him strength and warmth.

"I promise, Kyle, I will stay out of it until then."
