Chapter 47 - PREPARE TO FIGHT

This was turning into the worst mission I had ever gone on. I knew this was getting too close to my former home. Even though I was still hundreds of miles away and I hadn't even entered that state I knew that I would still be too close.

I now had to get out of here without getting caught by the two men on the porch or any of the others that were here. And I think that they had sounded some kind of alarm, since the scents I was picking up just intensified. There were at least ten more men coming from different points on the property, and more than one of them was not human. Hell, I don't even know if any of the approaching men were human.

This was bad. This was very bad indeed.

What kind of luck did I have that I would run into Kyle and Matthew on the same day? What the hell was the matter with me? Did fucking Kyle give me some sort of bad juju of something?

"Do you really think that I will be going back with you?" I sneered at Matthew, feeling the need to piss him off just a little while I plotted my next move.

"Do you honestly think that I will let you leave here baby cuz?" Ugh, I hated how he always called me that. I hated that he was my cousin period but the way he spoke has always just made me feel sick.

"If you think you can take me in a fair fight then come on, Matty. I will fight you one on one, just me and you."

"Heh." Matthew snorted at my suggestion. "Don't take me for a fool."

"Well, if the shoe fits." I grinned as I made the snide little remark.

"Fuck you." The bear standing next to Matthew spoke as soon as he heard my words.

"Shut up and stay out of this. I didn't come here for either of you. I came here to take Fink back into custody. Let me do my job and I will leave you all alone." I was putting authority into my voice now. I know that I was not an Alpha to them personally so my words wouldn't hold that much significance but I still had to try didn't I?

"Oh, little girl, you don't know what you are getting yourself into." The bear spoke with a laugh.

I could tell that the men who had been making their way to where we were had finished walking. They were currently hiding in the trees that surrounded the rundown house. What the hell was going on here. There were at least three more bears and seven more wolves here. Who the hell were these people and what exactly were they doing here together?

With a growl the bear leapt from the porch and landed just five feet in front of me. Seriously?! That was a fifteen foot jump with no running start. What kind of power did this guy have in his legs?

"You might want to rethink taking me on." I growled at the man and loosened the chains on my wolf.

I had kept my wolf in the dark for so long, hidden away from the world. The only time she had managed to break out lately was when I had been with Kyle. And there was that time I had loosened the tether to protect EZ at the club the other day. Aside from that though, I hadn't even fully shifted in way too long.

Right now though, I needed that wolf. I needed my connection to her to make me stronger. I needed to fight off the man in front of me, possibly my cousin, and most definitely the wannabe stealthy assholes hidden in the trees. This was a lot more than I had bargained for, but I wasn't a born Alpha for nothing.

I was stronger and faster than every female wolf that wasn't an Alpha. I was even stronger and faster than most male wolves out there. A problem, though, was that most bears were stronger than wolves by nature. It was just a matter of biological fact. Bears in the wild were bigger and stronger than wolves after all.

Still, I wasn't too worried, if it was a one on one fight that was. I knew I could hold my own against him easily. But if his bear friends decided to step in, or if my dirty minded and trick playing cousin stepped in then I would be a little worried.

"Are you ready to dance with a bear, little wolf girl?" The bear growled as he stalked closer to me. Seriously, he was really starting to piss me off and that was going to bring out my fighting instincts. I would definitely make him eat those words if he kept this up.

I watched as the bear slouched forward, getting himself into a fighting stance. He was going to rely on his brute strength and long arms to take me on. I was already preparing a battle strategy to deal with him. I saw where he was weak and where best to punch him for the best possible chance of winning. I knew that I could beat him, especially if I relied on my speed. That was something he would be lacking in compared to me. I was smaller and more agile than him and I would take full advantage of that to hand him his own ass on a silver fucking platter.

I readied myself as well, my feet apart and my arms at the ready. I was going to end this fight as quickly as I could so that I would be able to focus more on the other threats that were surrounding me. Perhaps if I won this battle with ease and finesse it would give the others some second thoughts. They might lose their nerve to even come at me.

Either way, it was time to fight.
