Chapter 29 - Mythical

Nancy's POV

Later in the evening, my dad came home. There was a knock on my door it was my mum. "Honey your dad is asking of you," she said then disappeared again.

I know, my dad is quite organized when it comes to this work. I may have misplaced someone or two things that made him realize I was in his office.

All these thoughts swirl in my head as I make my way to the study room.

I knock on the door and tentatively open it, peaking my head through to see dad sitting at his desk looking at some documents.

I know I was going to get a long lecture from dad for going through his things.

He looks up and asked me to enter. I quickly entered.

"Dad you called me," I asked timidity.

"Yes Nancy"

"Ok dad, what's this about?" I asked awkwardly edging him to go on.

"You went through my things right?" He asked me rhetorically because he knows well I did.

"I'm sorry dad, I didn't mean to I accidentally saw them," I said succinctly as I clasp on the chair.

I didn't want the conversation to go any further.

"Nancy the things you saw are just theories, pure myth, and nothing is proven yet. I don't want you taking them seriously."

I pause as I let his words sink in.

I know for a fact that he was hiding something from me. I fear what I'm thinking is less bad than the truth.

I took a deep breath though I know that no amount of preparation can save me from the truth.

"Yes dad I know," I said timidly and disappeared. I didn't want to be there longer than necessary.

I fall back on the bed and didn't realize when sleep came for me

The next morning, I went downstairs as mum was making breakfast.

I entered the kitchen when I saw dad sitting behind his laptop as usual acting as if everything was perfectly fine.

"Nancy honey, how are you? Come have your breakfast" my mother said as he serve me my oat with a lot of milk.

I don't even feel like eating but I had to else mum was not going to let me leave.

"Nancy your mother is talking to you," my father said as he look up from the monitor.

"I'm fine mum," I said as I force myself to eat.

I still haven't spoken to Roland and Baby after they left here last night. I can't seem to find Wolfe anywhere those two might have scared him away.

"Nancy, have you met Mary-Anne?" my father asked looking up from his laptop. Still, surprised by his question.

"How do you know her dad?" I blinked blankly.

"She is a friend's daughter and I believe you two will be great friends," he said raising his eyes to the ceiling.

"I see, I saw her briefly in my biology class anyway I have to get going. I'm already late for school" I stiffened.

"Nancy you didn't even finish your food?" my mother muttered.

I tightened my grip around the strap of my bag and walk past her to my car.

"Nancy"

I heard my mother calling but I pretended not to have heard and doubled my pace to the car.

I still had a few minutes before my morning class. I spotted Roland while parking my car. I wonder who those two girls with him were. I walk to where they were standing their illuminating features were enough to catch my attention, I was behind them so I couldn't get a glimpse of their faces. My eyes lingered on their curvy body.

They had a nice smell, a hint of fresh roses, and something else I couldn't quite put my fingers on.
