It seemed that Mark's plan had backfired splendidly. Now the group was going to shit their pants while only five people that could fight would have to defeat that monstrosity. The goblin champion was three meters tall and was fully armored. He had a helmet that had two horns like of the Vikings. He also had one hell of a thick single-edged sword. An armor, that skull ornaments in the shoulders, a golden and round shield, and pairs of gloves and boots that were silver.

You received a quest!

Quest: defeat the goblin champion!

Reward: Sonic Blade Skill Book.

Luke didn't even pay attention to the fact that the reward of defeating a boss for the first time was a very specific skill book… he was more worried about the circumstances. The goblin champion led a small group of goblins with him, and thanks to that, no one noticed his approach until the very last moment. Everyone assumed he would come with an army. Still, he left his underlings behind to make them level up… and because he was confident enough in dealing with anything by himself.

"I hate to say this, Luke… but he is too much for you," Rina said.

"I have to agree with her this time," Shalia said.

"How can you say that without even trying to fight?" Mark asked. "We know that this monster is powerful, but we can't run away from this fight. We have to endure until the others notice that something has gone wrong."

Luke wanted to think that it was possible. Still, the fact that the monster was casually walking toward them full of confidence and his instincts warning him made Luke agree with Rina and Shalia. Besides, they had far more fighting experience than anyone else there. Still, Luke readied his sword to fight because he wouldn't go far with the world in that state if he started retreating against monsters.

"Sorry, but running away isn't an option for me," Luke said.

"That is very like you," Rina said and then sighed. "I will do my best to support you."

"In the end, there is nothing more fun than defeating an enemy that is much stronger," Shalia said.

Luke didn't have any sub-weapons with him, so he couldn't wound the beast from a distance… he had to face it directly without relying on anything else aside from his own strength. There were others behind him, but Luke doubted that they could block or dodge the goblin champion's attacks.

"Focus on the small fries, and then offer some support once you are done," Luke said.

"Wait, Luke, this isn't going to…" Mark said, but then he was stopped by the explosive charge of the goblin champion.

Rina boosted Luke's strength in the last moment, and Luke also used Stinger, making both of them collide in the next instant. The sound of steel colliding echoed throughout the area, almost making those around go deaf. As for Luke, he only heard the sound of his arms cracking little by little in the short moment that he tried to stop the monster… in the end, he was sent flying to the distance.

While clenching his teeth to endure the pain, Luke still managed to land on his feet after flying for thirty meters. Still, the monster didn't give him time to rest… he charged again at unbelievable speeds, but Luke slowed down the beast a bit while using Spark Ball, just enough to make Luke jump to the side and dodge the attack. However, he couldn't let that happen again… the survivors were too close.

Considering that the monster had his eyes on Luke, probably because he had the highest level of the group, he had a chance of moving the fight to somewhere else. When Luke stepped backward, the monster followed him. Still, his speed was so insane that Luke could barely dodge the monster's charges by using Stinger in another direction. He did that several times until he was far away from the main group, but only a few seconds would be enough for the monster to catch up with them.

"Shalia, go for his legs," Luke muttered.

"With that level of power, my damage output won't be enough. He will only slow down a little bit…" Shalia replied.

"That is fine. The rules that apply to me probably apply to them as well," Luke said. "The more he gets hit on the same spot before the flesh is completely healed, the more damage he will end up receiving. Rina, focus on healing me."

"Okay," Rina nodded.

That fight will probably last for a while, and as much as Luke wanted to defeat the monster by himself, he couldn't get carried away. The fucking beast had ten times more health than him, after all. That means that the beast still had at least five times his strength and endurance at the very least. Still, that thing was just a monster… a weakling monster. After reaching that level of power, the creature still was hunting zombies in worlds that had just started undergoing transformation, which means that the beast couldn't face creatures of the same level, or at least a bit smarter.

When the creature charged again, Luke used Stinger after lowering his posture. The monster tried to split him in half with a downward strike with all his might, but he only cut the air and damaged the ground. As if that wasn't surprising enough, the goblin felt a burning pain on its right shoulder… Luke didn't use Stinger to escape. He used to attack, but a direct attack would only end up him cracking more bones, so he aimed for a small one while he focused on dodging. That was why he lowered his stance…
